  1. someone posted a list once of all the genes that dr. fine believes are connected to gluten intolerance------and there were so many of them that almost everyone would be considered gluten intolerant.
  2. janel, two possibilities that come to mind are either an eosinophilic problem, or a condition called FPIES---food protein induced enterocolitis syndrome.
  3. i grind my own flour. i have a nutrimill grinder. so far, i have only ground rice flour, but it comes out really nice. the company i bought it from was really good to work with. i had a problem with it when i first got it and they took care of it right away----they actually ended up sending me a new grinder. you can buy whole sorghum from azure standard...
  4. melanie, we don't know yet which of us carries the celiac gene (or genes). i am hoping to get our test results some time soon here----we are part of a celiac study and they are doing the testing for us. our meals are gluten free, but i do buy cereal, crackers and bread for the rest of the family. (there are 9 of us at home). our ped gi has told me that...
  5. when our schools do testing we are requested to send healthy snacks with our children. the snacks are not a reward for testing, they are to make sure that the kids have plenty of "brain food".
  6. melanie, if it were me, i would take the kids to a ped gastro. you already have the tests to confirm the diagnosis, but you may find it helpful in the future to already have a ped gi should any problems arise. if your kids are already established patients, the wait time might be less to get in for a problem. the doc might also be willing just to talk to...
  7. some of them have to be randomly rubbed with fiberglass insulation so they get the DH effect.
  8. gene testing is pretty expensive and insurance may balk at paying for it. it took awhile before our insurance agreed to pay for gene testing on my son who is IgA deficient. we are involved in a celiac study, so our whole family is getting the gene testing done with out cost to us------but i still don't know the results yet.
  9. is that without changing the underwear, or just the filter??????
  10. the behind is one of the places that dermatitis herpetiformis is likely to show up.
  11. i don't think it is related to celiac disease. there is an internal structure in the body that goes by the name "celiac something-or-other". someone posted about it last year because they thought it was funny that they had a problem with this (?) body part that was labeled celiac but was not connected to celiac disease.
  12. i have a son that is IgA deficient and we didn't even know it until he was first screened for celiac-----so it is not necessarily a serious problem, although it does explain the numerous ear infections he had and the fact that he seems to have a mild cold most of the winter.(i thought he had allergies)
  13. that sounds like celiac can be more or less severe (according to enterolab). i thought that you either had celiac or you don't-----you don't have a mild or a severe case of it.
  14. i was wrong when i said that DQ genes have 2 alleles. DQ2 and DQ8 ARE the alleles. the other numbers you are referring to are the haplotypes. 25 (of 75) Most common DR-DQ haplotypes in Caucasian Americans DQ DR-DQ DR DQ Freq Serotype haplotype B1 A1 B1 %[5] rank DQ2 DR17-DQ2 0301 0501 0201 13. 1 2 DR7-DQ2 0701 0201 0202 11. 1 3 DQ4 DR8-DQ...
  15. i have a question for those of you with lyme disease. could you be bit by a tick but not show symptoms of lyme disease until years later?
  16. i think that all DQ genes are comprised of two alleles. a double copy of B1*0201 is associated with an incresed risk of celiac. 0505 and 0202 are also markers for celiac. in the DQ8 gene it appears that only the 0302 marker is significant. not positive about this info, but this is what it looked like in the research i did. this genetic stuff can be mind...

    ARCHIVED Dh Rash?

my daughter used to get circular rashes----they were called numular eczema.
  18. why are liquid and gels not allowed?
  19. maybe some other food intolerances?
  20. vincent hasn't been around for a long time either.
  21. antigliadin antibodies can be raised by things other than celiac disease-----if this is the case with your son, that would explain why removing gluten from his diet didn't lower his levels. maybe it would be a good idea to do some more investigating.
  22. just wondering if anyone else has trouble remembering who is who sometimes on this board? sometimes there might be a particular thing about someone that stands out to me for some reason and then i can keep track of them better-----but it just seems to happen (alot) that i can't keep peoples names and their particular symptoms connected. maybe i just don...
  23. i've got 9 kids and i'm pretty sure i've seen diapers like that over the years, but i don't think i even thought much about them. there is an awful lot of variation in what is "normal" in bowel movements. i think that pooping more often after starting solids would be normal.
  24. i remember that guy's name!!!!! and i remember the julia's husband bit, too. i think i was pretty new at the time of all of that. i have spent waaaay too long reading this thread today.
  25. why do you want to induce a reaction? has she not been officially diagnosed yet?
