  1. I reacted to store bought rice as well. I found some rice noodles at the international market I am ok with. I also began to order rice from Nuts.com gluten-free specific menu. I have gluten and corn issues. So I need to watch cc from both. Good luck
  2. Hello. Congratulations on your pregnancy. I was diagnosed NCGS after I had children. I conceived 3 children. I lost my first and experienced a missed miscarriage. I went on to 2 conceive and birth 2 beautiful children. My pregnancies and labor deliveries were "not textbook". Far from the normal pregnancies my mom and sisters had. Both deliveries ended...
  3. Yes. I am considered NCGS many of the symptoms you describe fit my reaction to gluten. Additionally, I was put on an elimination diet after my gluten challenge for other culprits. I get those symptoms as well to my other food triggers as well which are cow dairy and corn intolerance too. If you can find a Dr to assist you in ruling in or out both celiac...
  4. Hello. I have tried taking cod liver oil and barleans (non fish based) products over the years. I preferred cod specifically over fish oil. From my experience I found them to be helpful from an overall anti inflammatory stand point, not specific remedy to a cc incident. Although certainly gi inflammation is a part of gluten cc. Years back I actually...
  5. Hello. I often have stomach burning and pain (not necessarily described as typical reflux coming up the throat). I have these issues despite being very strict with my gluten-free diet for years. Over the years since my NCGS diagnosis, I realize, I am likely struggling with other issues. Other intolerances besides food, that are other triggers specific to...
  6. Can we just not add wheat starch (even if FDA compliant of 20ppm) to gluten-free foods? That would be great. Sorry to all of you who experienced symptoms who tried it. I appreciate you sharing your experiences.
  7. Oh yes. My husband and children over the years can tell when I get glutened. I am sure the article above will explain we can become cranky, irritable, and upset. Brain is inflammed and we feel it. Along with gi and everywhere else. I hope your little one recovers quickly. In closing for me we found it was best if the whole house is gluten-free...
  8. Well I have held off chiming in a long time. This is hotly debated topic. My story In early March of 2020 at the time I had a co worker who travelled bimonthly, and a child I knew lost a parent. I paid my respects. Covid hadn't been announced yet for our state. At that point it was minimal cases in CA. New York was just about to heat up. I...
  9. I also jump on the intolerances. I had up to 13 for 2 years . I consistently have to avoid 3 now. Gluten, corn, (especially starch and corn and corn starch derivatives) , and cow milk. For me the Fodmap's foods didn't personally fix the issue. I did whole foods, had to avoid additives / ingredients etc . As the other poster mentioned how histamine...
  10. Have you tried sheep cheese? My son likes sheep cheese better than goat. Perhaps it is worth a try.
  11. I was told I need to drink more water than my (formulated) amount requires. Additionally, I have had to use smart water or flyby electrolyte drops to ensure I stay hydrated. My gluten challenge was in 2016, but I still struggle with hydration/electrolytes.
  12. Histamine as Trent's mentioned also popped in my head as a possibility. Trent's gave excellent details. Do not get overwhelmed initially with the inconsistency you may discover online for histamine lists. One can find differences regarding histamine lists. Most have to identify their particular triggers. As Trent's mentioned fermentation, old, overly...
  13. In addition to gluten I have other intolerances. I am often asked "What can you eat" Whole foods. "Oh I shop at Whole Foods all the time" 😉
  14. After sharing it with lunch mates everyone says I could never go without (gluten any food). The next day subconsciously everyone brings a gluten meal to lunch. 🤦
  15. Inflammation can cause swelling that to the outside world appears to be weight gain. The triggered innate immune system can really ramp up and throw a lot of mediators at damaged tissues, organs etc. I am glad to read he is finding some relief with diet. If he is motivated he can certainly try more. I use a variety of things beyond a gluten-free...
  16. My husband intermittent fast. He drinks plain black coffee and water during his fast window period. Initially for the first month on and off he said one can experience hunger, or lightheadedness. After that his body adjusted. A former coworker told me her husband tried one. He was unable to stay on the diet as it was not a match for him. He experienced...
  17. I called a relative recently to check in on 2 of my health career relatives. Both had the first dose. While neither is celiac, things went well, and they continue with their essential duties.
  18. "I am the only coealic in my house so the only one on a gluten free diet so cross contamination can be an issue..." We had to take the whole house gluten-free after my challenge. I also have issues with corn (particularly starch) and cow milk based products. I hope you are able to figure out if as dc says above you just need some enzymes or if you...
  19. I too was Vitamin D deficient. I have a past history of some small uterine fibroids, my OB/GYN found during my son's C-section, but did not feel required any action at the time. I also had fibroadenomas of the breast as well. Vitamin D status and fibroids https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26079694/
  20. People who stop eating gluten and then start eating it again for the endoscopy (gluten challenge) seem to have worse symptoms than before they stopped gluten. Yes! I can attest to this. Not fun!
  21. Correct, but some of us were diagnosed in past as such based on symptoms only without formal testing for either condition. So for some of us in a certain age bracket this did unfortunately occur. I for one am glad as you point out it is more definitive they are 2 seperate legitimate conditions. Thankfully now it does not occur as often now. Respectfully...
  22. Ha ha ha. A few of us on the forum where misdiagnosed as such. 🤦
  23. I took my cats gluten-free. I feed my cats grain free. The dry foods are grain free and dedicated lines. The wet food they prefer is grain free by ingredients, but not labeled as such as it is not a dedicated line. The wet food company makes a variety some of which contain grain. I was grateful to the worker who patiently walked me through my detailed...
  24. I get nauseous just seeing this.
  25. Ditto. Corn is king in the industry because it is cheap, but also another inflammatory for many of us. Sadly I was not surprised to click on details to see corn.
