ARCHIVED Almost Convinced My Sister
wolfie replied to Mandy F.'s topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Good for you!! I gave up trying to convince my family. My Mom did get tested, but my Dad & sister are both burying their heads in the sand despite having obvious signs. Heck, my sister still questions my "diganosis" and the need to stay away from gluten. -

ARCHIVED My Son Fell And Cut His Lip...
wolfie replied to VydorScope's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Poor little guy! Our Ped has always told us to just keep an eye on mouth sores. When DS split his lip and had to have stitches, we did have to buy this rinse for him to use, but I can't remember the name of it. It was similar to a mouthwash and we used a Q-tip to apply it. Hope he is feeling better soon! -

Thank you very much for responding. I am going to pass this info along to her. I hope that she will give the diet a try and see if she feels any different. -
ARCHIVED Con-agra Confusion....email From Them Is Confusing.
wolfie replied to wolfie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you. That is exactly what I am concerned about. For myself, I react to any gluten; DS on the other hand, not sure if the reacts or not, he has only been on the diet 2 weeks. If I find anything new out, I will make sure to post as well. -
ARCHIVED Con-agra Confusion....email From Them Is Confusing.
wolfie replied to wolfie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wow.....talk about lots of different answers! LOL!! There really isn't anything of theirs that I can't find a substitute for, so I guess I can just avoid them until I get more info. I will also call them on Monday and ask about the email response that I was sent. I am really beginning to depend on Kraft these days. Thanks to all who responded... -

Menstrual Cycle Becoming Irregular After Being Gluten Free?
wolfie replied to Sarah8793's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This happened to me after going gluten-free. I had been very regualr, then started having 18 day cycles, then 35 day cycles. There is no rhyme or reason to my cycles now. I have my tubes tied, so I am not pregnant. My OB/GYN ran all kinds of tests, nothing was out of the ordinary. I also have much worse PMS symptoms now, too. Not sure if that is related... -

July 26, 2006 Dear Kim, Thank you for contacting ConAgra Foods. We appreciate comments and questions from our consumers. We do not have a gluten free list of our products available at this time. The flour used in our products is often wheat flour and should be avoided by individuals with gluten sensitivities. The modified food starch used in... -
ARCHIVED Best gluten-free Pie Crust And Flours
wolfie replied to floridanative's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
For a pie crust in the past I have used Pamela's Pecan shortbread cookies crushed and mixed with melted butter and some extra pecans....it was amazing! I bet you could use some of her other cookies, too, maybe one that would go with the PB/Choc pie. I use a gluten-free All purpose mix (recipe is Bette Hagman's) that I bought from Autentic Foods (I think... -
ARCHIVED Newbie And Need Some Food Suggestions
wolfie replied to CanadianGal's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You have gotten some great advice here already! One thing I can add is that is you do want some safe rice cakes, try Lundberg, they are even labeled "Gluten-free". I haven't had any issues with them at all. Also, you could use romaine or green lettuce leaves to roll up sandwich fillings like tuna, chicken or egg salad. I just had a tuna lettuce wrap... -

ARCHIVED Shopping List Anyone?
wolfie replied to bearodilla's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you have a Meijer Grocery Store nearby, they have a listing of all of their Meijer Brand foods that are gluten-free on their website. It is a wonderful source and it is nice to buy store brand instead of more expsenive brands. Wal-mart doesn't have a list, but does label some of their Great Value brands gluten-free if they are. I have seen more... -
ARCHIVED Please Name Your Top 4 Or 5 Gluten Free Foods!
wolfie replied to Lymetoo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Let's see........ I don't eat a lot of specialty items, I stick mainly with foods that are naturally gluten-free, but when I do order or buy breads/treats, these are my favs: Kinnikinnick Hamburger Buns (no kidding, they are very close to "normal" buns) Kinnikinnick bagels Gluten-Free Pantry Favorite Sandwich Bread Gluten-free Pantry Chocolate Truffle... -
ARCHIVED Mi-del Oreo Like Cookies......
wolfie posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I ask b/c I tried one last night and while it had a good flavor, they were really hard. I am not sure if this is typical or if maybe we had a bad batch. MIL did find them at Odd Lots (or Big Lots) for $1.00, but they weren't expired, so that isn't it. I have seen them at my local natural food market too and they are in the same packaging. -
ARCHIVED Good Ravioli!
wolfie replied to lpellegr's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That is good to hear!! I will keep my eyes open for it! I found some Comfy Cuisine pizza at our Whole Foods and it was not very good. I ended up tossing it. I was very disappointed b/c I had heard good things about them. That is really only the 2nd thing that I have tossed in the 6 months I have been gluten-free. The first were some French Rolls from... -
I am interested to hear their response, b/c I have noticed all the things that frenchiemama said. I used to love their fries, though.

ARCHIVED I Am So Sad!
wolfie replied to mommyetb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
These sound like my test results (antigliadin IgA was 5, antigliadin IgG was 55 and I had been on a low carb diet for almost 6 months). I went gluten-free on 1/12/2006 and I haven't felt this good in 10 years. There is no doubt in my mind that gluten is a huge issue for me. I didn't get the biopsy b/c I was already gluten-free, but the end result is the... -
ARCHIVED Waffle Syrup
wolfie replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I still haven't gotten a straight answer for Mrs. Butterworth's, but I think they are a Pinnacle food, too, right? I emailed specifically asking about Mrs. Butterworth b/c the dietician and I were talking about it. I stick with Aunt Jemima, although may give Kroger syrup a try. I did email Pinnacle again the other day and this is the response I got: ... -
ARCHIVED Have You Consulted A Dietician For Help?
wolfie replied to Sarah8793's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
We just saw one this past Monday that my son's GI recommended. She was extremely helpful, but I hear that is not the norm. This specific woman has been dealing with the gluten-free diet for 20 years. She is very knowledgeable. I did see a dietician when I first went gluten-free, she happened to be the one who figured out the whole gluten intolerance...
