ARCHIVED Yogurt
wolfie replied to infiore's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My son & I also eat yoplait. Like mentioned above, just stay away from the obvious cookies & cream, etc. We usually get the lemon supreme, blackberry harvest, orange dream, vanilla and raspberry. -
I also got a Diva Cup last Spring and love it!! So much better than pads & tampons. No leaking and I can acutally go out now on my heavy days without worrying about leaking. I really can't say enough good things about this product.

I don't really know of any fantastic doctors or gi doctors, but the dietician that my son saw was fantastic. Her name is Mary Kay Sharatt (sp) and she works out of Children's Hospital. I am pretty sure that she will see adults too, but I am not positive. I found out that I had Celiac b/c of the dietician that I was seeing at the time, but she didn't have...

ARCHIVED Virtually Asymptomatic Child
wolfie replied to Lindsay GFMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My DS had very vague symptoms, nothing that would have tipped docs off if I had not pretty much demanded that he be tested. He was occasionally constipated and had some behavior issues and was being evaluated for ADHD. He was in the 75th -95th percentile for his age, do dr didn't see anything wrong. Well, the dr was wrong. DS's bloodwork was VERY high... -
ARCHIVED Kinikinik Bagels Online
wolfie replied to jesscarmel's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know you can buy them at Kinnickinnick's website, but I haven't seen them anywhere else online. My local health food store carries them, so I just buy them there. They have to be frozen, so I don't know if any one else is going to ship them. -
ARCHIVED Lays Stax
wolfie replied to Lizzz88's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Something in them doesn't agree with me either, I think it may be the soy. Could you have a problem with soy? -
ARCHIVED Looking For Tried And True Chocolate Cake Recipe
wolfie replied to ebrbetty's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Just last week I made a chocolate cake from the recipe on the Hershey's Cocoa can. It is called Hershey's Perfectly Chocolately Chocolate Cake and there is a frosting recipe on it too. I used a gluten-free mix of rice flour, tapicoa starch & potato starch. I did not use Xanthan gum in the recipe. I don't have the recipe written out, but if you need... -
ARCHIVED How Many Of Your Children Have Celiac?
wolfie replied to Sillyyakdidi's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have 2 children. My son (10.5) was diagnosed in July with Celiac. DD (4) has been tested twice and both times her bloodwork has been negative. She still is having some tummy issues, so the GI is keeping a close eye on her. GI suspects lactose intolerance now. My Mom was tested and only her Anti-gliadin IgA was slightly elevated (her dr says normal... -

ARCHIVED Can You Eat At Thai Or Chinese Reataurants At All?
wolfie replied to imagine22's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I have only eaten at 2 Chinese/Thai restaurants since going gluten-free...both have gluten-free menus. One is PF CHangs (ate there last night), the other is Molly Woos (a Cameron Mitchell restaurant....they all have gluten-free menus!). I don't know that I would try to navigate any other restaurant, but I also have an issue with soy, so even the gluten... -
ARCHIVED 2 Yr Old Son Possible Celiac
wolfie replied to KatieKates's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Welcome!! This place is a wealth of information!! It sounds like you have a lot of good info already. You are absolutely right about not putting Scott on a gluten-free diet until after he undergoes all testing or the results could be skewed. If he does end up with Celiac, it is not the end of the world. There are so many options now out there for food... -
ARCHIVED The Demon Constipation
wolfie replied to TinkerbellSwt's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Lots & lots of water!! Make sure he drinks plenty. He also should eat plenty of veggies & fruits. Limit cheese (binds you up). I know that constipation was one of my main symptoms. Drs kept saying I had IBS and to eat more fiber (whole grains......that just made things MUCH worse!). Now off of gluten (and now soy, too), I feel much better... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Chicken Finger Breading
wolfie replied to vampella's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We use Pamela's Baking Mix & corn meal. DH dips the chix in milk, then coats with the dry mix, then fries in the pan. They are TDF!!! Then I make a gluten-free honey mustard to dip them in. I use French's Yellow Mustard, French's Spicy Brown Mustard, Hellman's Canola Mayo & Honey. YUM!! -

ARCHIVED Big Italian Christmas (aka... Big Gluten Christmas)
wolfie replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would take the italian food from your restaurant that you can eat. That sounds yummy!!! Hopefully they will understand. -
A nice thing someone did for me: MIL is making her pecan pie bars gluten-free for DS & I (and everyone else too). They are TDF!!! She is also making gluten-free brownies for DS. She always makes us gluten-free pies and has perfected the gluten-free pie crust. My Dad is making the stuffing gluten-free this year. I told him that he couldn't...

ARCHIVED Flower Wagon... I Am Driving It Around For The Last Time... Flour Recipies.
wolfie replied to zachsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
What I usually use is the Gourment Gluten Free Mix by Ener-G: Open Original Shared Link It is just Rice flour, Potato starch flour & tapioca flour. I am now buying the flours on their own (made by Ener-G) and mixing them myself. The ratio is 2 parts to 2/3 part to 1/3 part (6 cups rice flour, 2 cups potato starch flour, 1 cup tapioca flour). ... -
