  1. I don't think the rosemary mint shampoo/conditioner have wheat, but you'll have to check for sure. I might have only looked on one out of two bottles. Their shampure line does have wheat. I really like the shea butter lipbalm from l'Occitane. I got it at Sephora. It's like $10/stick but it's SO NICE. A cheaper version that really works is the Vitamin...
  2. Are Tiger's Milk bars gluten-free? I have a Peanut Butter flavored bar. The only thing I'm not sure about is "natural flavors". Of course. Their site is under construction!
  3. I just found out that MAC Brush Cleanser has some kind of wheat stuff in it. It's a good thing I never used it to wash my makeup brushes. I'm still grossed out by the fact that preshredded cheese has flour. Ew. That would stop me from eating it even before going gluten-free.
  4. I've been writing down my food cravings in my journal. I think it has to do with eating gluten for me. In the last month my eating has been totally weird in general. The week that I ate gluten was the worst! I had a mini pizza for lunch, then I HAD TO EAT a whole bag of Terra chips. The day I had my blood test (only my first day without wheat again) I had...
  5. Wow, I'm glad this thread came up. I have been a total space cadet for a few years now. I hate driving because it makes me nervous and stressed. I just don't feel like I'm as alert as I should be. I've been taking ritalin for a few years, and I started to feel like it wasn't working as well... that appointment with the shrink promted me to get some tests...
  6. Last time I went I bought: Clif Nectar bars (vanilla cashew flavor) Envirokids Crispy Rice bars (yum!) Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice cereal (there is a NON gluten-free version so be careful) Where are you? In Northern California you can find baked goods by Crave and bread mix from Silvan Border Farms. I like that stuff. Oh, and a lot of...
  7. I use Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi shampoo. I use the Wella (color care?) conditioner. I like them a lot, and it's all I have since I found out my Sebastian Laminates shampoo & conditioner have wheat amino acids. The gel is ok though.
  8. Just curious- can you have endometriosis without knowing it? Many of these posts make it sound painful. My gran had a "tipped uterus" and my mom said it took a while before she was conceived. I googled it and found that endometriosis is one cause for this. I don't remember hearing much about it being painful... so maybe she didn't get it from endometriosis...
  9. You might be thinking of monosodium glutamate. I've seen that in the "maybe" category, but only because of traces from the source. The compund itself is just another chemical. "Salt" is a generic term but actual sodium is just sodium. The only place you really get sodium is from regular table salt (super cheap), which is sodium chloride. I think companies...
  10. I LOVE the Clif Nectar bars! My favorite is the yellow one.... Vanilla, cashew, and something else.
  11. Ugh, why are some of the biggest jerks pediatricians? My pediatrician growing up was like that, but we lived in a small town so our choices were limited. My brother complained about his back hurting and the guy said it was all in his head to get out of school. Please. This is a kid who has been playing rough sports since he could walk. It's not like he didn...
  12. I just had the same problem on Monday! The tech at Walgreen's looked at me like "You want me to look up ALL THAT?!?" She gave me a printout of the Walgreen's brand gluten-free list, which helped, but still. What the heck? The actual pharmacist is very helpful though. If he'd been available I would have talked to him.
  13. I asked Kari-out if I could buy stuff separately because I don't live near a restaurant. Hello Amy, Kari-Out goes to market only through distributors. Based on this, we can not sell individuals directly. We do have a distributor who will sell consumers directly. You may contact them via the internet at: www.wprs.us or by phone at: 914-428-1370....
  14. I think the gluten-free diet has helped! In the last week my allergies were the worst I've had in a long time. It was raining (that usually makes them flare up), my air filter broke, I cleaned my room, and of course I play with my pets every day. I had a cold as well. I could not take enough allergy meds. Until 2-3 days ago I was a mess in general because...
  15. I take Claritin in the morning and Benadryl at night. I had to stop taking the generics though because some have "starch". The brands are pretty reasonable at Costco. I take Flonase as I need it (usually before bed) and occasionally I'll use an albuterol inhaler. Having an air filter has really helped me too. Mine just broke! I notice a big difference...
  16. Wow, vitamin K is in coffee? I'm set! I don't think I bruise easily, but I am definitely a klutz, so I have bruises all over my legs from doing stupid klutzy stuff. They show up because I'm so pale. My gran bruised very easily, and I think my mom does too.
  17. I'm in San Francisco. I've been shopping at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Rainbow Grocery. As far as Mexican food goes, it seems like all the things you need to worry about only apply to Americanized chains. We have tons of authentic taquerias and Mexican markets in SF. I've made lots of Mexican food from scratch before with ingredients from these stores...
  18. Originally irregular bleeding meant a lot of spotting throughout the month and really heavy periods. I went on the pill because I couldn't get a pap test that way, and I needed a normal one for insurance. (I had an irregular test a few years ago.) Since I went on the pill I've had extremely light periods and they were regular. It's only been in the last ...
  19. I do need to see the allergist anyway. My brother and cousin have all had that grid test with a million different substances, and I think it would be a good thing since I'm sensitive to a few things already. I'm hoping the allergist will refer me to a GI. I need a referral within the hospital, but my insurance doesn't care. I'm thinking of looking for another...
  20. Hmm. I just got my results: tTG Ab,IgA <3 IgA 261 Gliadin Ab IgA 3 These seem really low! I even told my doctor that I stopped eating gluten for 4 days before the test (after eating gluten for a week), and before that I was gluten-free for two weeks. I just couldn't handle feeling so awful for the last ...
  21. Are gallstones and gall bladder removals common for those with celiac disease? Dang, my grandmother had hers removed. That's one more issue I've heard about on this forum that she also had.
  22. I have a number of friends who went to UCSC. (I grew up 40 miles south.) One of them actually lived in upperclassmen apartments as a freshman, just because she turned in her stuff late. Those apartments have a few roommates with a kitchen. Look into those, and see if you can live in one as a freshman because of health issues. Some of those friends were...
  23. I'm part way through this book. I recently finished Dangerous Grains and I've done a ton of internet reading in the last month. I still had a lot of holes and questions in my comprehension because I'm new to this subject, and so far this book has helped a lot. I think this book is well written so far, and I think the main reason is that it is cowritten...
  24. Yeah, I noticed that their chicken taquitos were gluten-free so I sent them an email. I haven't seen past versions so I didn't know they were changing it... I think everyone is changing menus/recipes right now because of the new FDA thing and the McD's law suit.
  25. All of them? It looks like just the chicken from their webpage. I guess it all depends on how sensitive you are. I'm new to this, so I don't notice small amounts yet. Dang. I like Rubio's.
