  1. I am so glad this thread was started!! About 6 weeks after my diagnosis and as a VERY sick Celiac my daughter got me checked into this forum and I have been getting better ever since. I have learned so much from so many of you folks, so many generous people who are celiac too and soo generous with your knowledge. Much of it from experience and some from your...
  2. So sorry Susan you are feeling so bad in the night!! So hope by now things are going a bit better at least. Have you been a 'slow reactor with food and allergies? That might be cause for the slow reaction to the "indiscretions". Keeping that 'poison' in your system may have magnified the reaction. Hope your body decides to let go so you can start to feel...
  3. So glad you are better!! A rough time behind you, so time for some better news like engagement, congratulations to the happy couple!! evie Good to see you back on the forum and your fiance.
  4. Mahee..sorry you are having such a problem this far out from your DX. One suggestion I have is to watch liquids taken in as you eat meals, it was suggested to me to not use more than 1/4th cup @ mealtime. theory is that it thins food too much and food goes thru like 'dumping syndrome'. It sure helped me. Also wondering if you could have become sensitive to...
  5. Just saw your post, hope sleep is going better for you by now. I presume you are celiac? Many celiacs go thru a period of having trouble sleeping, I did also and still not real great. Being short on sleep will make you so VERY tired (even your brain). I always take calcium tabs near bedtime, helps me get to sleep. Also milk helps some but not for me since...
  6. Great news about Megan's progress!! So glad things are progressing there and so good you could visit the other grandparents. Glad you have time to post news accasionally. Hugs and prayers from here too. evie
  7. Rachel..so glad you are starting to get some answers, no wonder you are so bubbly!! Wanted to tell you that deer ticks are VERY small and hard to see, they are the ones that cause the bulls eye and Lyme disease. The bigger ones get on dogs and cats (people too and engorge themselves un till they fall off. some of these larger ticks can cuase Rocky Mountain...
  8. I believe milk products can also do that. I have been finding that the hard way so am staying away for awhile. Luck to you!! evie
  9. Rez..if you live anywhere near Ia city see Dr. Elliot at the univesity. He is GI specialist I have seen since late march '06, he and the dietitician have helped me there. Other Dr's who work with him say he is very well known country wide. Have also learned so much from all the people here on this forum. they have such good answers to the numerous questions...

  11. Glad I got on this thread tonight and read about the CBS celiac story, that was great to have on National TV!! I did not see it because I was so tired after dental work today that I went to sleep during that time. Do not want to say I nap because of being older, I blame it onto being Celiac. HA-HA Such 'Good' publicity for "Celiac disease". Am I a newbie...
  12. Susan; I so hoped you were feelling better now! If you started your menses early you could be getting into perimeno now, this happened to my sister but she flew right thru menopause. thyroid issues can be very testy to women and some men, mine jumps around and now need to cut down on Synthroid where earlier I was moving up, up to higher doses, who knows why...
  13. Sweetfudge..I noticed no one came up with idea I use to keep potatoes from going bad in our warm basement. I boil the potaoes in jackets, peel them, shred, dice or whatever is your preference then bag and freeze in size bags you can use for your family. To use let them thaw partly and use as if fresh boiled. About keeping potatoes in fridge..I think it changes...
  14. Welcome to this board, you have been given some very good advice from some of our forum experts, many of these people know more than Dr's!! One thing Iwould add is that after you have your bood tested and found to be slanted toward Celiac your Dr. will probably want you to have an endoscopy where he would take 6 to 8 biopsies from the upper intestine. I...
  15. Lynne; I agree you should write a book about your life experiences..then give your 'doggy' neighbor a FREE copy of it so she can find herself there?? Is that mean or funny?? Am afraid we have a slightly similar dog deal here too, but such a small town am not sure anythong can be done?? Young neighbor across the alley had 2 hound dogs until May 06, suddenly...

  18. YES, good news is just what we need, am sure you will enjoy that suana and I think it will help pull out poisons from your body. Hi armetta, good to see you , but I don't like crickets in the house either...they do chew up clothing and such. that sure was a good short nap I had this pm...
  20. Alison; Do not have specific info for you but does sound like a possibility. I am a great grandma and we have 2 of them in same family who I am wondering about but not that specific a reason to suggest tests for them.
