mommida replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
They are startig to carry Schar's at Meijer. It does seem that once Meijer's starts to carry it the price can go down. Some of the products are egg free too. -
GERD symptoms may be how different conditions present. Some of which have a known association with Celiac.* It depends on how severe the symptoms become that you would go in for treatment. hernia some parasite infection* barret's esophagus Eosinophilic esophagitus* (This is especially interesting because it has food "triggers", so it can have...

ARCHIVED Hubby Causes Insomnia? Suggestions?
mommida replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Try an get him to sleep on his side. Easier said then done I know. I had to slide my hand flat under his back then make a fist. The uncomfortable feeling of having a fist in your back works instantly. Be ready to guide him unto his side. If the snoring has been increasing over time, send him to the dentist. Some dental issues cause snoring. I... -

There is also gluten withdrawal or the tastebud adjustment period. We can get just miserable adjusting to a gluten free diet. i suggest mashing up potato chips and cover chicken strips to make chicken nuggets. Use any add in you like, but do not add any more salt. Bake in the oven until done. Start offering more fruit and veggies. *Important right now... -

I mainly have switched to wine. Tequilla drinks, well have u heard that song... Tequilla makes her clothes come off? Not quite that bad. The next thing I knew I was on a stage in a trivia contest. Saddest part of the evening, I won the trivia contest. My competition was too young to drink and therefore sober.

ARCHIVED Completely Dumbfounded
mommida replied to Adalaide's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I've heard the "ma'am" long enough that is miss being called "kiddo". I love the little puke face! I'm so glad you agree with my other sentiments. I was starting to get worried about my state of mind lately. -
ARCHIVED Completely Dumbfounded
mommida replied to Adalaide's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I find that I have to refrain from hurting the stupid person standing in front of me. Not that I'm a totally violent person. I just would like to stuff the piehole with gluten to make it stop talking. -
ARCHIVED My Daughter's Celiac Testing Was Negative...but Allergy Testing +
mommida replied to carecare's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
There is now a proven link between EE and Celiac. You really had a stroke of good luck to have caught some sensitivities through allergy testing. That didn't happen for my daughter and we had to go through elimination diet to determine what foods "trigger". We have also noticed an airborn trigger, late fall in the mid west ~ probably ragweed. My... -
ARCHIVED Which Is Easier For You: Dairy Or Gluten Free?
mommida replied to JWSJ's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
dairy free is harder for me. Things I did like gluten and dairy free, enjoy life chocolate chips, rice milk, almond milk, Lizlovely.com cookies, and I learned to try other combinations. Using hummus on sandwiches to make them "stick" together and almost like a slice of cheese. Keep looking and concentrating on foods you can have and keep trying new... -

Brittle hair is a sign of thyroid problems. Biotin is also good for hair growth and metabolism. A good multivitamin can help too. -
ARCHIVED Ener-G - How Do Super Sensitives Find It?
mommida replied to carolynmay's topic in Super Sensitive People
We have never had a bad reaction from an ener-g product. They are one of the best companies for dealing with multiple food allergy products too. IMO We eat the the bad reputation products too! When there is multiple food allergens you go with what you can trust and learn to work with it. Toast or grill that bread yum! -
If you are going to try gluten free oats add it back in slowly. It is suggested serving sizes on some of the gluten free bags of oats. About 3 Tablespoons (or under)

My food was stolen from work back in the gluten days. It was just one of those frozen meals. Come to find out another co-worker was buying the same meals and hers were being stolen too. Came to have a conversation about it when both of us were writing our names all over the box in HUGE letters. Turns out it was the cleaning crew on nights, not our co...

There was no medical advice from a nutritionist to be had. We were given some Splash. Splash is a child version of an amino acid based formula to help with nutritional requirments. It tasted terrible and had artificial sweeteners. LOL We eliminated all top 8, peas, and of coarse gluten free. So basically fruits, vegetables, and meat. Everything...

You need to get another doctor's opinion. My endo went into hyper viligant mode about neck pain pain before. There is a condition that comes on suddenly and it is very serious. Make sure you see and experienced endo. Some of the other problems might be cleared up with probiotics. You system may be out of whack from the strong antibiotics. It is...

My dad just got diagnosed with stage four cancer after he collapsed this December. Information is sketchy at best, because I have to hear everything at least 3rd hand. What does seem to be common as cancer is spreading through the body that the belly fat gets attacked too. This was the way it was for my uncle and now my father. I know what you...

ARCHIVED Daughter Diagnosed With celiac disease And Diabetic
mommida replied to xjrosie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Holy crap! From your description of Rochester, Novi, and Plymouth we live somewhat near each other. I would like to try the doughnut recipe too. My daughter has Eosinophilic Esophagitus and Celiac. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Celiac. I think the Luekemia connection you are talking about is a later turn from ITP (I'm having a total brain... -

Doing some upgrades in the kitchen. Tile backsplash, new flooring, new dishwasher. Can you guess? Yup. Dishwasher cracked and caused some damage to the floor. One thing always leads to another. I want to practice knitting, so I will make some hats to donate to charaties for Christmas time next year. Looking forward to watching my kids in their... -
ARCHIVED Daughter Diagnosed With celiac disease And Diabetic
mommida replied to xjrosie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Celiac Specialties (www.celiacspecialties.com) in (Rochester and Novi) Michigan has the closest to a Krispie Creme doughnut. You would have to get the plain doughnut holes. Some private health food stores carry them in the frozen section. If you can get the basic doughnut right, make your own custard and frosting. So I think it is possible for you... -
You should at least start with allergy testing. EE cases usually do not have postive *allergy* tests. It is a start, and if you do have other true *allergies* you can eliminate those triggers from your overall well-being. As for the elimination diet, you start by eliminating all the usual suspects. That is the top 8, peas, and anything you are personally...

ARCHIVED Anger
mommida replied to Rachel85's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I can't answer your medication question. Gluten has been proven to have an opiate effect on some individuals. Some individuals will have a withdrawal period. I think the suggestion for a "crutch" may be the best advice. Gluten free chocolate. Listening to soothing music. A quick mini workout. Apropriate, Non harmful things that can give... -

ARCHIVED High Fat High Protein Diet 6 Year Old
mommida replied to lkboettger's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hame made chicken nuggets using potato chips. You can add parmesan cheese and any others spices. If eggs are tolerable, dip into a wipped up add to make your mixture stick. The higher the oven temperature, the crispier the nuggets will be. Keep a food journal to see if there is another food intolerance. My daughter starting falling off the growth charts...
