  1. Melanie Hi & welcome to board. When gastro symptoms are present, IBS is a common misdiagnosis. There's nothing like an antigen specific blood test so that's probably what Dr. Uncle will do first (or at least should do - my husband has been to many gastros who didn't know their you know what from their elbows). The antigen specific blood...
  2. Yes, I remember that too. They used to have a booklet of recipes and they don't sell it anymore. I don't know if that's only temporary......I asked them about a year ago though
  3. hope your snow storms stop and give you time to take a breath. Here in NJ it's free of snow and I'm glad (as I do the snow shoveling these days and I am not in the best orthopaedic health to be doing that). I remember one year in around 1977 were we had back to back snow storms and I didn't own a car - had to take 2 buses back and forth to work. The...
  4. read your policy for the definition of long-term and short-term disability as sometimes the polcy wording makes it that if you are disabled for just the work that you do and any other work then you can go on disability; however if you have wording that states if you can do any other job while ill then your claim might be denied. The fine print wording can...
  5. add my husband to list of those who have celiac disease & can't take probiotics (reaction)
  6. I miss the old Warner Bros. Looney Toons ...nostalgic. They were made for kids, but interwoven in them was Adult "G" rated humor.
  7. My husband developed 3 hernias from nowhere. My suspicion is that his misdiagnosed celiac left him "fat-less" and his body started "eating" his muscles; first to get thinner was abdominal wall and hence the propensity to acquire a hernia.
  8. Colleen & Josh, my husband agrees but until it happens it's such a pain in neck, so much to think about, so much to be concerned about especially when you have other sensitivities. Try to keep positive and find ways around the "dead ends" of these situations.
  9. If the diarrhea doesn't stop in 3-4 days from onset he should take immodium to stop the "cycle" of diarrhea.

doesn't Kinnicknick make a gluten-free fruitcake? Poor fruitcake....
  11. we use Lactaid brand (we checked last year about it's being gluten-free) Check again if you have any doubts or concerns.
  12. Happy Birthday!!
  13. I picked this up for Christmas for my husband..only one catch...if you read the ingredients label it states that product has been made on equipment lines shared with peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, soybeans and wheat. I figure this is a CYA statement and the candies themselves are gluten free.
  14. Happy Birthday Judy!!
  15. is there still time for more? I got bombarded at work and didn't get to my letter...
  16. when will this product make it to stores? Or will it be at bars only?
  17. When you order tuna salad keep in mind that it could have been prepared with bread crumbs in it. I learned about this from the daughter of a restaurant owner who clued me in on it over 10 years ago when I used to do Atkins diet. From that time on I would read ingredients on pre-packaged tuna salad like at Quik Check and lo and behold they too added bread...
  18. Tyler is a good name; not too trendy, can be pronounced without getting lessons on how to say it. Only drawback these days is names like Tyler could be a girl or a boy. I don't know if that matters to you I used to know a man named Robin and a girl named Robin. I don't know how I feel about that. Also note to all MIL's who want to control the...
  19. Ok to vent away. I felt the same way the first year of my husband's celiac diagnosis. Sometimes I still feel that way but not as often as it used to be.
  20. My office supplied breakfast to us employees yesterday. The selections were home fries, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage and gluteny biscuits. I want to concentrate on the scrambled eggs as this restauarant catered the food and the foods were in the aluminum trays over the little burners to keep it warm. When I looked at the scrambled egg tray I...
  21. Happy Chanukah to all those who celebrate this week coming up! Hope it's a special one!
  22. I use white vinegar, but also have used bleach if the veggie has a tough outside.
  23. Jessica, I am signed up for email and this is my story as to why it's best to use the Promotional Codes and order over the phone instead.. The website warehouse is different than the phone ordering warehouse....the website warehouse runs out of stock almost immediately as soon as they publish their catalog or put the item on the site. I have ordered...
  24. I view vitamins as the "back up plan." Because I may not always eat properly or as in husband's case he needs all the help he can get and perhaps he missed certain vitamins in his diet that day --- the supplement does what it says: "supplements" the basic diet It's not meant to be the only source of the nutrients.
  25. Have a wonderful Birthday!!!
