  1. Have you actually seen vitamin water that contains gluten? I haven't. richard
  2. Are you sure this is gluten, especially if you're eating something that did not gluten you before? Sometimes we attribute everything to gluten when it's not always so. richard
  3. Actually, it had been just over an hour since the poster called the doctor. If you're leaving a phone message, it's highly likely nobody would have heard it in that time. And if it's bad enough that it's truly an emergency, folks, do NOT call your doctor or go to his or her office. Call 911 or head to an emergency room, which is likely where your doctor would...
  4. Most products that are absorbed through your skin are engineered with a carrier so that you can absorb them. You cannot just rub a medication on your skin and, voila, it's absorbed. In fact, you'll notice that there are numerous medications that you CANNOT take topically. That's because there's no practical way to get them through your skin barrier. I...
  5. Wendy's fries have been gluten-free for years. richard
  6. Before you go to Red Lobster look at their allergen menu. Stuff you would think would be gluten-free, like broiled seafood, isn't. I think this is because the spice blends they use contain wheat. About your only choices are shrimp scampi, blackened fish, crab legs and lobster. According to them, even their cocktail sauce has gluten. And their fresh broccoli...
  7. There's nothing in those ingredients with gluten. richard
  8. I haven't the slightest problem with canola oil. richard
  9. So much of this depends on the individual. I never avoided NSAIDS and never avoided seafood. And I had no trouble with the DH after I went gluten-free. As for the blood tests for Dapsone, you need frequent tests at first, but once you've been tested with no negative results for a while, you don't need them as often. I think I was getting them just once...
  10. As somebody already said, everybody is different. There's no one answer. It was a few weeks before I saw any major improvement and several months before I was able to do all I had been doing before I fell sick. richard
  11. Wow, I guess I lucked out. My dermatologist took one look 30 years ago and told me I had DH. He was right, but he didn't know at the time about the DH-celiac connection. You absolutely must have blood tests for a while and an occasional liver panel. Bad side effects are very rare but need to be watched for. richard
  12. We can't eat this anyway but it should have been clear to anybody who knows meat that this was not anything close to 100 percent beef. The texture and taste are completely wrong. HOWEVER, those fillings in the beef are in fact part of the taste of a Taco Bell taco and there are people who absolutely love that taste (I wasn't one). Take out the fillings and...

    ARCHIVED Doctor

"Has anyone else used her recently and is she worth the trip and money?" I've never used her; I just heard her speak several years ago and I know she's been recommended multiple times. If you absolutely need to see somebody who you know completely understands celiac and won't just dismiss it, she's that person. Of course, there are bound to be other...

    ARCHIVED Doctor

    Yes.
  15. I doubt this has anything to do with gluten. Unexplained fainting is definitely something to get checked out. richard
  16. But are the parts of the wheat that are bad for us in those particles? I doubt it, particularly in something like baked bread. Bottom line for the vast majority of people with celiac is that this is not something to worry about. richard
  17. Yes, but even as a gluten challenge that's a terrible diet that could do strange things to you by itself. In a gluten challenge you should eat normally but with plenty of gluten. richard
  18. There are plenty of mainstream and generic gluten-free vitamins. In fact, virtually all vitamins I know of are gluten-free. Just take them orally. richard
  19. I don't hesitate to buy liver. It's nothing to worry about -- at least not gluten-wise. Cholesterol is another matter, but liver is just so yummy!!!
  20. Never had a problem with any cream cheese. richard
  21. I guess I was mystified as to why you didn't name the company to start with to warn extremely highly insensitive folks off the company. As you can see above, ravenwoodglass in fact uses Heinz and has no problems. This is the only time I've heard of yeast being added. If they add yeast to the vinegar, from what I understand it MUST be listed in the ingredients...
  22. No need to throw it away in the future. richard
  23. I eat Hershey kisses of various sorts with no problems. richard
  24. My doctor had celiac and when he went to increase his life insurance they made him take a blood test to show he was compliant with the diet. He was able to get the insurance. This was a few years ago. richard
  25. I agree that corned beef is gluten-free. richard
