  1. When you say the items have hidden gluten what do you mean? Are these items that you've confirmed gluten in or are you talking about ingredients that you've read somewhere to avoid, like caramel color, which does not in fact contain gluten? There's a lot of old info out there that's wrong. While it's true that these lists can be outdated quickly (although...
  2. You DEFINITELY need to see a doctor, although i think I can just about guarantee you haven't had appendicitis for four years!! richard
  3. Many people gain after going gluten-free because they're suddenly absorbing calories they weren't before. Although there are also cases of people losing, it's more rare than gaining. Exercise and diet control are really your only options. A typical menu is whatever you make of it. Mine is a lot like I ate before, but no gluten. A lot less fast food, which...
  4. Never found a gum that isn't gluten-free. But call them if you're worried. richard
  5. No wheat or malt listed? You're OK. richard
  6. Maybe items under the USDA do not have to list the top 8 allergens (although I doubt that) BUT they are required to list any grain added to meat. Period. richard
  7. "Oh, and my Celiac support group here in TN, is less than adequate, informative or supportive. It seemed like everyone there could eat soy, eggs, milk and everything else I could not. I am not sure if I will attend this month's meeting. Anything they discussed, I already learned on here, or other online researching. sad.gif" While I'm sorry you can't eat...
  8. I'm the only one with celiac disease amongst my friends and coworkers and yet I manage to eat out with them at least part of the time. I do occasionally bag out when they want to go to a pizza, Chinese, sandwich type place, but that's OK with them and me. That's life. richard

  13. Allergen labeling applies to ANY food sold in the U.S. no matter where it's made. As for CC in ALL lentils, never heard of that one. richard
  14. All the Vienna sausages I've checked have been gluten-free. richard
  15. You're right. Miralax is just one gluten-free active ingredient and no inactive ingredients. It should be gluten-free. richard
  16. What are the ingredients? Have you called and checked with the manufacturer, which should have been your first move? Please do not post a headline to a topic declaring that a product is not gluten-free simply because you didn't react well. That proves nothing at all. Maybe it isn't gluten-free, but nothing you've posted has proven that. You need to call...
  17. The folks who are affected by vinegar are generally having problems with vinegar, not with gluten. Almost no vinegar is made from wheat and the wheat now has to be clearly marked. I can't name a product with wheat vinegar off-hand. Malt vinegar is clearly marked as such and definitely should not be consumed by people with celiac disease. As for gin...
  18. Grease gets replaced, not filtered and reused. richard
  19. I had Dh and have no reaction whatsoever to touching gluten. Painful blood blisters that turn black and blue does not sound like any DH I've heard of. Some sort of contact allergy? richard
  20. Doesn't look like mine did. Mine were blisters with clear fluid. richard
  21. Maybe I missed it, but who is Brad? Is he the owner or the chef? If not, move up the chain to somebody who really knows something. richard
