  1. I've only called about one generic drug but the name of the manufacturer was on the prescription label. Then I looked it up online to see if they said anything about it. They didn't but I did get the phone number that way and called. If you don't see the name of the manufacturer, try asking the pharmacist. They should be able to find out.
  2. Yes. Per Clan Thomson list.
  3. My daughter had negative blood tests several times over the years and I was told her tummy aches were due to anxiety. She responds positively to the gluten free diet and we have a history of biopsy-proven celiac in my family. She never had the endoscopy because my husband and I didn't want to put her through that when we think she needs to be gluten free...
  4. I made these today. My gluten-eating husband ate them before I frosted them and said they were the best thing I had ever baked! Meaning even when I baked with gluten. I made them with Spectrum shortening and almond milk since we are casein and soy free. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
  5. It is a stool test that you can order yourself that tests for gluten and other intolerances. I am not sure if you can order it in Canada. You can find out about it at www.enterolab.com.
  6. My daughters and I have all been tested by Enterolab. One of my daughters got a 285 for gluten and around 20 for casein. She reacts more severely to the casein than the gluten. I got a 10 for casein and I can tell that it makes a difference to avoid it. My other daughter got a 9 for soy but I still think she reacts to it. So I think they are right...
  7. I looked at some of the 'Cause Your Special mixes that I have in my pantry and some of them have corn. The chocolate pound cake does not. I also have Namaste mixes which say they are corn free as well as gluten, soy, casein, etc. They give advice on how to substitute for eggs. I have bought these at the regular grocery store, I think, and at Whole Foods...
  8. I was recently glutened from cc at PF Chang's and noticed my stomach hurt after eating for a few days. It took me about 10 days to feel normal again. I'm as sure as I can be that everything else I ate was gluten-free. I'm thinking it just takes that long to get over it for me.
  9. One of my daughters is a gluten, casein, soy free vegetarian. I'm thinking she might need to eliminate peanuts now. Are you avoiding eggs? My sister's children avoid gluten, casein, soy, eggs, and peanuts so when I make things I watch out for eggs, too. Have you tried the 'Cause Your Special cake mixes? I'm not sure if they have corn, but they...
  10. I just wanted to let you know about my experience with the gluten-free diet. I went gluten-free when I tested positive with Enterolab after my daughter was positive. I was very strict because I had already started learning about it and being strict with my daughter. Within 3 days, I didn't need a nap any more and I needed to get off my antidepressants...
  11. I meant when he thinks it might be a problem with gluten, he does the Enterolab test when the regular blood tests have been negative. Dr. Fine has a not-for-profit 501©(3) organization called Intestinal Health Institute. About the Enterolab testing, it says that "Proceeds from these tests help defray research costs at the Intestinal Health Institute....
  12. Another reason many doctors do not accept Enterolab, according to my doctor, is that if you test the general population who don't have symptoms, 30% of them will test positive for gluten intolerance. That seems too high for most to think is valid. I found my doctor by asking Enterolab for a doctor in my area. He does use Enterolab when the blood tests...
  13. You do have gluten intolerance but not casein intolerance. You are not having an auto-immune reaction to gluten and you don't have a fat malabsorbtion problem, indicating (I think) that damage to your small intestine isn't too bad. You don't have the main celiac genes but you do have 2 gluten intolerant genes. I think Dr. Fine might be the only one...
  14. I noticed improvement within the first few days of being off gluten for my older daughter. Then about a month later, I noticed she had to avoid casein, too. Her behaviour and mood immediately improved unless she has casein. My younger daughter shows signs of having ADHD. It was months after she started the diet that I noticed she wasn't acting that...
  15. Are you sure about the formula being ok? Is she still sick if that is all she has? I just did a google search on it and it appears that it has casein and soy in it. They say it is made hypoallergenic, but who knows if she is really sensitive, maybe it is still a problem.
  16. My daughter's tiredness and moodiness went away when she went gluten-free/CF. My other daughter and I are less easily distracted since starting this diet. So I think there's a good chance, it will help your daughter, too. My girls both have elevated antitissue transglutaminase. I am thinking it means there is more of a chance of other problems (like...

    ARCHIVED Dq1

I can only answer based on my own experience. I don't know my daughters' genes yet but I am DQ (1,8) and my husband is DQ (2, 7). One of my daughters looks bipolar when she eats anything with milk. Her behaviour has improved tremendously since going gluten-free/CF. We did see a change when she went gluten-free but have since discovered milk is what...
  18. Yes, you could still be gluten intolerant and have the blood work be negative. My daughter suffered for years with symptoms not as bad as yours and her blood tests were always negative. She is now gluten free after Enterolab testing was positive and she is better. The best test would be to try the diet and see how you feel.
  19. Interesting. I never made a connection to being gluten free but until this summer, I have always had to wear arch supports in my shoes. Even in summer, I never wore sandals because my feet would hurt too much if I didn't wear my tennis shoes with the arch supports. Now for some reason, I can wear sandals and flip flops or even go barefoot all the time...
  20. My daughter had negative blood tests 3 or 4 times over the years but responds positively to the diet. I did have her tested by Enterolab which was positive but dietary response is just as definitive.
  21. I was tested by Enterolab after my daughter tested positive. I thought I didn't have any symptoms but going gluten-free gave me more energy. I used to always be tired and need a nap even after getting 10 hours of sleep. My eyes used to be watery and I just noticed they are not anymore. My daughter used to complain that her eye was twitchy. So I think...
  22. I was on it pre-gluten-free and felt very nauseous at first. I had started taking 10 mg so they told me to take 5 mg until I got used to it. Once I went to 5 mg, I was fine and did eventually go to 10 with no problems.
  23. I started with just the test for gluten sensitivity for my daughter. When I asked them at Enterolab that is what they suggested. Since then, I have tested my other daughter and myself and have done almost all of the tests for all of us. For me, in the beginning, it was more an issue of knowing if they were trustworthy before giving them so much money...
  24. I think it is hard for family to understand. I wouldn't believe it either, if it hadn't happened to me. But since I have been glutened from cc, I would rather be overly careful at times, than take a chance on wasting a day or more not feeling well.
  25. Mine needed the pullup overnight for a lot longer. She was just didn't wake up, pullup or not. I would talk to the preschool and see what they think. For us, I did it over a vacation and when she went back, there wasn't much risk of an accident.
