  1. I am still very new to this group and the Celiac Lifestyle. When my daughter's pediatrician first said the words "Celiac Testing" to me, I started doing research. We'd been dealing with months of "D" - months of stomach pains, waking in the middle of the night, not eating, vomitting...etc. The first blood tests came back "negative" as far as the doctor...
  2. I missed the beginning of Gail Pyle's talk - as I was "eating my weight in treats" --- but I did see Melinda Dennis, the nutritionalist.... and she has Celiac. I really learned a LOT from her. Ok, so did any of you who went win any of the baskets?? The two people sitting on either side of me BOTH won baskets. I was so mad. LOL!! I would never have been...
  3. That's wonderful! Congratulations!!! You'll be doing a great service to those around you who need it!!!!
  4. I was there, and I saw you Molly!!! =) I actually was sitting with a very nice lady from OK, who's son was in the teen program. When I was getting my lunch, I heard a bunch of kids yelling, "MOLLY, MOLLY" over and over. And, I thought... "who else could it be?" LOL!! I learned SO much! I was SOOOOOO glad I went!!!
  5. I wondered about this too. My last RX was filled generically. I filled it for 100 mg, but I only take 50 a day. But, I am unsure of the gluten-free status.
  6. Wow, I could have written that a week ago. A normal everyday cold usually knocks me out for at least a full day, if not longer. I'm having my tonsils out in 2 weeks, and my ENT assures me that the common cold will be much more "common" once I'm done healing. I hope he's right. I have 3 kids, only 1 is in school - and laying in bed all day might be good...
  7. That's really interesting!! I had the scope done due to my daughter's dx, and questionable blood results. I often have trouble swallowing, and when I woke up, the first thing they told me was that I have severe scarring from reflux, and insisted that I take Prevacid daily. I had no idea I had reflux, but I DO have Celiac Symptoms. How crazy is that???...
  8. Wow. I am really starting to wonder about other "issues" I've been experiencing since going gluten-free. It never ends, does it?
  9. Not only did I lost 70 lbs on Weight Watchers, I went to work for them once I made my goal, and reached lifetime. So, I found both plans to work for me. However, Flex worked better. I needed the accountability of the meetings. I would "cheat" if I had to weigh myself. Core wasn't yet in place while I was losing, but once it went into "beta" - as a staff...
  10. I do understand what you are saying. However, like "Atkins" - once people realized it was difficult to do, they started badmouthing it - and falling away from it. Granted, Atkins was a crazy diet - but that's not my point. I do want people to call awareness to it, I want doctors to become more educated about it, I want people to be helped instead of told...
  11. Honestly, I worry that my family and "acquiantances" are going to think I'm on some "fad diet" because it's becoming popular (in a sense). I have done Weight Watchers in the past, and I lost 70 lbs - but then I gained it all back with my last pregnancy. While I do think it's interesting to find out whether or not "the pretty people" suffer from this as...
  12. Congratulations!! What wonderful wonderful news!!!!!!
  13. That is VERY interesting!!!! I posted in another topic about my "lack of" GERD symptoms. But, I'm always and forever dealing with nausea issues. I had no idea!!! I'm taking Prevacid, currently. And, I'm not as nauseated anymore, but I assumed it was a gluten issue. Not a reflux issue. Wow!
  14. My daughter is intolerant to all red dyes (also yellow and blue). I hadn't even thought about a gluten connection. Oh my. However, quite a few food dyes are nothing but coal tar waste anyhow....so, who in the world wants to consume them???
  15. Interesting. I do have a medical dx of GERD.... but I had no apparent and obvious symptoms. I never had heartburn. I never had hiccups (or...rarely anyhow), no problems with indigestion. But, the endoscopy showed that I have scarring from reflux issues. So, now I'm gluten-free and I'm taking Prevacid. Since I didn't experience any problems that I'm...
  16. I also use Muir Glen. It's YUMMY!!! I can only find it at Wild Oats, but for us... it's worth the trip! =)
  17. ABSOLUTELY!!!!! Heck, some doctors STILL don't know what it is. Once they "get a clue" and start learning how to recognise and diagnose, more people will be able to get a diagnosis and save themselves years of problems!
  18. Someone, somewhere mentioned taking the Chebe mix - and just rolling it into a donut shape and frying it. I honestly have not tried it, so I don't know how it would work. But, it's worth a try - right? =) Oddly enough, I've never liked "real" donuts, but I LOVE the Kinnikinnick Maple Glazed!!!
  19. I've had tummy troubles my entire life. They eased up during my teen/early 20 years. I had small "episodes" of digestive issues with my 1st and 2nd pregnancies....and the third was just fine. However, my labor and delivery with him was SO crazy insane fast.... ! It was immediately after my 3rd was born that I started having more and more issues. I...
  20. I don't know what you did wrong.... but I've tried other Pamela's products and not liked them at all. Even the "premade" packaged cookies are really icky, to me. I've made the GFPantry Truffle Brownies....and those were YUMMMMMMY!! I hope someone can help you figure out what happened, and that the next batch is much better!!!
  21. I found the Barilla Corn Spaghetti at a Hy-Vee Grocery Store. They are in the Midwest, but I'm not sure where else. I buy most of my Kinnikinnick stuff at Wild Oats, but they don't stock the Maple Donuts, so I special order those once in a while. =)
  22. The blood testing for myself and my daughter, together - was several hundred. Thankfully... it was all covered by insurance.
  23. I'm just doing a flyby.... but saw something about Crocs... hey don't knock em till ya try em! They may be ugly as h*ll....but they are COMFY!!! =) =) =) I don't wear them to church, but I do wear them for pretty much everything else!
  24. Drats! You had me at easy...but lost me with the peanut butter! Sounds interesting though!! =)
  25. We LOVE Tinky pasta in our home!! But, not for spaghetti - we use the Barilla Corn Spaghetti - and it's Yum-O!! The Kinn... Maple Donuts are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO yummy. And, I'm not even a donut lover. As far as their muffins go... who in the world would even KNOW they were gluten-free?? =) =) They are THAT good! I've had the chocolate...
