Genetics Question - Dq2

Hi there!  I'm new here and have been searching for answers for many years for my own health issues and my husband's GI issues, but now my kids have things going on and I am determined to get answers!!

I won't go into any specifics here but I wanted to first try to understand the genetics aspect - I do know that it's not a diagnostic tool, but that it's helpful in identifying risk for developing celiac disease.

My daughter had some bloodwork done a few years ago when she was hospitalized and the genetic portion reads like this:

Celiac-specific HLA:  DQA1*0501 (aka, DQ2) and DQB1*0201 both positive

So does this mean she has two DQ2's?  So homozygous DQ2?  Or is this analyzing just one allele and are both of those things components of "one" DQ2 (so maybe she also has some other DQ something that *isn't* associated with celiac disease?)

Would just like to be able to figure out the relative risk based on the chart on page 8 here:  Open Original Shared Link

I do know that I have at least one DQ2 and my dh has at least one DQ8.  Do you inherit one copy from each parent or can they mutate into something that wasn't technically passed from a parent?

They say 30% of the general population (I guess they are talking Europeans) have the DQ2 gene. They also say 30% of the population have gluten intolerance, stomach cramping etc. You don't have to be genius to put the two together, I wouldn't eat gluten if I had the gene (I have it) but I mean if I had it and I wasn't obviously sick yet, I wouldn't eat it now that I know about the genes etc.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
