Happy Birthday Julie!!!

Here's to a year filled with more health and well being.

100 pages!!! OMG :o

Someone posted on another thread that they never viewed this topic cuz they thought it was just about me possibly being able to eat dairy.

:lol: I laughed when I read that....I guess there was a time I thought maybe I could have dairy....when was that? Oh yeah....probably on page 1.

Happy Brithday Julie!!!!!

Have a beautiful day!!! :)

I posted about this thread on Lynne's thread and someone (I forget who, maybe ChelsE) posted that this was like a bunch of girlfriends at a slumber party. :D I thought it was a good analogy.

jerseyangel Proficient

A bunch of girls at a slumber party--I like that :D

I read that too...I think maybe Robbin posted it. It is kind of like that...a super long slumber party. :)

I notice no men come and post here....I guess they dont want to intrude on the party??

100 pages...thats pretty cool. :D

Us girls....we never run outta stuff to say!

Julie, yeah...where's the balloon drop?? :P

I think Vincent posted that he came on here once in a while to offer input but it just got too diverse for him.

Hehe...in other words we scared him off with all our girl talk.:lol:

Hmmm...maybe it was all the stuff about ovaries??

By the way...my appt. with the OBGYN is tommorrow at 3:30.....hopefully I get something out of that appt. since I've waited a lifetime for it....well, at least 30 pages or so. ;)

jerseyangel Proficient

Good luck with your appt, Rachel! Ask lots of questions ;)

This thread thing reminds me of when my sister and I talk for 3 hours on the phone. (we live in different states, and don't talk every week). My husband, or hers, will say--so, what did you two talk about? Well, only about 17,000 things, and I can't name one!!

Patti - - do you not have an unlimited long distance plan? My whole phone bill is $55 a month, covers DSL, all phone services, and unlimited long distance (in the US) - - - can't live without it as friends are scattered everywhere....just think, you could call your sister all the time!

Rachel - - - hope it's a fruitful appointment!

jerseyangel Proficient

Susan--I do actually :) I have Verizon that includes unlimited calling and my DSL internet connection (lifeline) :D I think we just get busy, and we know that every time we get on the phone, it's 2-3 hours regardless of how long it's been! She has a full time job and 2 young-ish girls, so we just don't talk as much as we'd like. It is nice, though to not have to "watch the clock" when making phone calls any more!

Oooh - I'm jumping in a bit late today, but Happy Birthday Julie!!!!!

Patti, too true and too funny.

I think this thread is fabulous. It just strikes me that this is exactly what women do when we get together, we talk about everything and we do that because everything is connected to us. This thread has helped me to understand the frustration I have had on another board that seems to be dominated by men. The discussions are specific to the one topic and then they end which lots of times is just right but sometimes you want something that is broader and deeper than just one topic. This thread contains the community of, seems like, women who show up and anyone is welcome to. It is a gracious space, I have felt so at home and so happy to be here even though I kind of crashed in somewhere around page 76.

It is just the best darn pajama party I have been to in ages. :D:D:D

See ya later, off to pick up my sweetie.

Susan....you have to tell me about this. I'm still using dial-up and let me tell you...it sucks!!! Everyone tells me DSL is expensive. I already pay about $45 for unlimited long disatnce but how do I get the DSL thrown in too? I was told DSL alone costs over $50 a month.

Yeah...thats a good description. Its very "cozy" here and yes....everyones welcome.

I like it when new people come and "crash" the party. ;)

The more the merrier!! :D

I have to agree....the best pajama party!!!

I jump into this thread to post the most random things....

I have cable internet (which I think is better than DSL?) and I pay $24/month. You should look into it.

Thanks....I gotta do something cuz I'm spoiled on my Moms computer all week with DSL and then I go home to my computer and I feel like I'm in the stone age or something.

I get impatient and frusterated.

Jersey...I also dont like to pin much cuz it takes too long on that computer..sorry.

I know you're picking up my slack. ;)

Rachel - - just call SBC and ask what is the best deal they can give you. Tell them your friend gets everthing - caller ID, call waiting caller ID, and one more feature (I think I have call forwarding but don't use it), PLUS DSL, and unlimited long distance. It's soo-per! Also - ask them about their "bundle plans" they were advertising a while ago. Don't know if those still work, but, you should be able to negotiate a good deal wtih SBC, and talk them down - - - they seem to have negotiating powers as I just got my DSL down from 20 to 14 a month, because I knew someone else who had that price.

Please note, it's a two-year commitment, I think, and if you back out early it's something like a $200 fine, so just make sure you can commit to the time. You will LOVE DSL if you've still been using dial-up!

So it's become a pajama party, and I can join in??? It's such a long thread, every now and then I check in and see that it has nothing to do wtih eating dairy...... :)

Holy Cow, 101 pages, what did I miss......I'll check in from now on. :)

Thank you— yes, valid and essential— The issue either doctors is that every one I have tried to talk to about this has essentially rolled their eyes and dismissed me as a hypochondriac, which gets discouraging. I believe a diagnosis would help me to be taken seriously by doctors as well as being validating, but can carry on without it.    There are many, probably most people in my area of my age and gender, who avoid gluten, but many just avoid it casually— eating the occasional plate of wheat pasta or a delicious-looking dessert, or baking cookies with wheat flour for gatherings.  That is not an option for me. I don’t eat other people’s cooking or go to restaurants that do not have strict cross- contamination procedures. It can be boring and lonely, and people do look at me as if I am being a bit dramatic but weeks of symptoms after a single small exposure has taught me to respect my experience.    Thank you very much for your response— sometimes I just need to hear that I am not crazy—

You’re not crazy—some people have severe neurological and physical reactions to gluten, not just digestive issues. While testing can be tricky without eating gluten, documenting symptoms and seeing a specialist familiar with atypical celiac or gluten-related disorders can help. Your reactions are real, and it’s valid to be cautious.

You might consider asking for a referral to a RD (Registered Dietician) to help with food choices and planning a diet. Even apart from any gluten issues, you will likely find there are some foods you need to avoid because of the shorter bowel but you may also find that your system may make adjustments over time and that symptoms may improve.

I wish Dr’s would have these discussions with their patients. So frustrating but will continue to do research. Absolutely love this website. I will post any updates on my testing and results.  Thank you
