Nikki -- good googly moogly -- don't take that from your kids' pediatrician's office . . . call every day and ask if there have been any cancellations. In fact, if you call first thing in the morning, and then right before noon, after two days, you'll be in. They don't want you calling and asking all the time!! They have openings that they keep "free" so that the doctors can catch up, or if there is an emergency. They'll fill them, though, if someone bugs them enough . . . because they don't want you to call them again (my daughter worked as a clerk for a pediatrician's office) .. . . . be a thorn in their butt -- not their side -- and you will get in VERY soon!!!!!

My son and I were discussing Rachelville . . . we decided that I can't be a STAND UP comic, because, well, I'm in a wheelchair . . . so I'm a SIT DOWN comic!!!!! Also, when I told him that I was the town storyteller, he said, "oh you mean a Bard?" That is what they used to be called . . . people who would wander the town, as a minstrel and storyteller . . . so maybe that should be changed as well.

Also . . . my son is a hunky 23 year-old . . . and plays the BEST jazz saxophone I've heard . . . but it's the old stuff . . . Duke Ellington, Glen Miller, Coltrane, etc. . . . . . He could be an asset to Rachelville. He's also very capable, and bust-a-gut funny . . . .

Thank you ... Christmas Eve last year standing in front of my stove cooking dinner!! :P It was 2 weeks after going gluten-free.

It's good to be here!!

Gosh, took the kids to the pool and came back to a book to read! Skimmed over it ... I'm leaving here again in a little bit and won't be able to check in till tomorrow ... gosh, it'll be another 30 pages by then! :D

For music, I've always pretty much listened to anything anyone else wants to hear. I like about anything except twangy country (some of the newer stuff is good) or rap. My husband just bought us tickets to see the Commodores. That should be fun.

Picard - - an attorney who is a thoughtful boss - - -a rarity, I will tell you - worked in two law firms myself throughout college (one was my dad's, about 60 attorneys at that time - - too much exposure to lawyers in my past :blink: ) but they do rely heavily on a good secty, that's for sure....

I'll tell you what, my music tastes would get ME laughed out of town, except by perhaps cissie - -

Bluegrass, American roots music (I went from Celtic to that), OLD country (Cash especially, Willie Nelson and Emmylou), and then NIck Drake (British and no longer living), crazy old English Beat and ska, from college- - there's normal stuff too (Seal - my deep love - U2, Beatles, Peter Gabriel) and some Christian music......but everybody but my bro hates my old crazy stuff with fiddles and Appalachian crooners - - - -

He's a pretty good guy . . . he just took me to my physical therapy appointment -- took off work to do it. Then, took me to the bookstore . . . . He has a HUGE collection of vinyl records . . . LOVES the classics . . . big Sinatra fan, but because I endured YEARS of squeaky saxophone practice, everyone can now benefit from the EXCELLENT baritone sax that he plays (also plays alto & tenor -- has an alto and a bari) . . . He can also play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, electric bass, banjo, clarinet, drums . . . can't think of what else, but I know that those are the instruments he has . . . (can you tell why I'm poor?????) Actually, I forgot -- the drums are Ashley's -- she plays drums, marimba, xylophone, piano . . . and I'm going to try to send via e-mail to you guys who want it the song that was played before their wedding . . . (she sings opera).

Okay, I've bragged enough . . . .

Premature posting....

Now...if it were me who could eat these muffins...well you can be damn sure I'd be walking around looking like Donna with crumbs all over my mouth and little puffs of muffin flying out everytime someone speaks to me. :D

I still havent heard anything back about my ultrasound. They said my doc would call in a day or two..its almost been two weeks now. <_<

Do you think they have seen the alien baby and are not sure what to do about it. I remember it felt as if he was quite disturbed that day after I poured about a gallon of water into my gut. :huh:

I'm getting a little worried...I shall call them today.

Call. Dr. R said he would call in a week and it was 3 weeks, but not until AFTER I called the nurse, lol. Talk about being worried...I had myself convinced I had pancreatic cancer by that point. I think more likely (as was in my case) they may be having the results looked at by more than one person.

Donna, remember how in R-Ville everything is happy and perfect?? We dont really kill things here...especially in such a violent manner. :o

I'm thinking we may actually need an intervention clinic in the town....it will be a busy place I'm sure. :rolleyes:

Oh yes, now I remember. :lol:

I'm trying to remember some groups even back in college. I can't. I know one song that I hate being stuck in my head is "Blasphemous Rumors" but I couldn't tell you the group anymore.

Ok Susan, Your Mother Hen doesn't listen to that stuff anymore. When I met my hubby he was a beatles fan. We've both moved to simple, easy listening type music. I also liked Dan Folgeberg "Run for the Roses". I love horses!

Grrrr......telemarketers. I'll send this. Hard to listen and type something totally different.

These do not sound like fun! I think I am going to be spinached and pulling a Dave all at once. The testing service just warned me I may be visiting the porcelain god after both tests. :(:blink::o

:o No, that doesn't sound fun...I haven't had either test...really don't need more reasons to visit the porcelain god. :o

Ah, music. Love it. Love classic rosk. When I was young (here's showing some age folks), my favorite group was Led Zeppelin. Now, I don't have time to listen to much except the music for choir and the small group. ;)

Okay, it's 2:20 and still no chocolate, although I was really hungry and all I had to eat was some plums from our trees. Anyway, I think I'm safe on the chocolate for today since I leave here in 10 minutes and have no chocolate at home. Thank goodness for laziness...otherwise a trip to the store might tempt me, but alas, I am lazy so no stops. :rolleyes:

BTW, my daughter, the Elvis fan, is taking off for Memphis on Thursday, for all the goings-on at Graceland. It's an annual pilgrimage.

Funny you should mention telemarketers, Andrea. We have not been able to receive incoming calls on our phone for about 2 weeks. They sent a man out last week, couldn't figure it out :blink: . New man comes today, figures out that the problem is a broken wire, underground somewhere between the entrance of the neighborhood and my house. As of 3 pm today, have phone service back. Have also gotten 2 telemarketer calls since! :D They came out of the woodwork as soon as the line opened up! :lol:

I always loved 70's AM radio music growing up. Motown, Bee Gees, Neil Diamond--all that stuff. I still like that music today--the XM Radio has a 70's station that I listen to a lot. My sons are into 70's rock--Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin--I remember when it was all on the radio as new music! My older son also got me into a little Hip Hop.

I also love Country Music--old and new. That's what I tend to listen to in the car the most--good to sing to :D

I also really like showtunes :ph34r:

Susan,

Past male friend who drinks could be trouble if you can't disassociate the past happenings (ie. going out drinking) with now. If it will encourage you to old habits....then no, no, no.

If you are ready to date, which I thought you said you weren't, and it won't pose a problem of past associations then it's a possibility.

      My journey is it gluten or fiber?

      I made it through the holiday w/o being glutened. I had my brother cook with gluten-free breadcrumbs and I didn't get sick. I baked cookies with gluten-free flour and had dry ingredients for cookies in ziplock bag. I also made gluten cookies as well and guess I did good washing to avoid CC. My wife also went to a french bakery and bought a gluten-free flourless...

      What do you mean it would not allow any celiac to eat gluten again. I think if this helps cross contamination when eating out at a non dedicated gluten-free restaurant this would be nice not to encounter the pains. But is their a daily enzyme to take to help strengthen the digestive system?

      Welcome to the celiac.com community, @SamAlvi! Were there any other antibody tests ordered? Particularly, was there a "total IGA" test ordered to check for IGA deficiency. When people are IGA deficient, celiac panel IGA test scores, such as the TTG-IGA, are likely not valid. If a total IGA test was not ordered, I would request such to be done. Note:...

I ended up in the ER again and received IV fluids. In my country, Pakistan, doctors are unfortunately not very thorough, so they treated me for a stomach infection. I visited three or four doctors, including a gastroenterologist, but it seemed like they just wanted to keep me on medications and IV fluids. Eventually, I did some digging myself and started connecting the dots. For years, I’ve had excessive gas buildup and frequent loose stools, but I never paid much attention to it. I also cannot easily digest dairy products. Two years ago, I had a CBC test that showed iron deficiency. My doctor told me to eat more meat and said it was nothing serious. However, for the past five years, I’ve also had severe motion sickness, which I never experienced before. Whenever I get on a bus or in a car, I sometimes lose consciousness for 10–20 seconds and wake up sweaty, and occasionally I feel the need to vomit. After more research on the internet, I came across gluten and celiac disease, so I got two related tests (TTG-IgA & TTG IgG) done along with a stool test and another CBC. The stool test showed weakly positive blood. Ever since eating those pancakes and bread, I’ve had a burning sensation in my gut. My doctor reviewed my tests, he told me to completely stop eating gluten and started me on IV fluids for 20 days, saying that I had severe inflammation in my gut. It has now been two months since I quit gluten, and I’m still not sure whether this is celiac disease or gluten intolerance. I don’t really trust doctors in Pakistan, so I thought I might get some help here.

      Welcome to the celiac.com community, @SamAlvi! Were there any other antibody tests ordered? Particularly, was there a "total IGA" test ordered to check for IGA deficiency. When people are IGA deficient, celiac panel IGA test scores, such as the TTG-IGA, are likely not valid. If a total IGA test was not ordered, I would request such to be done. Note: "Total IGA" goes by other names as well. I will include a primer on celiac disease antibody testing which does a good job in covering the nomenclature variations connected with the various tests. Elevated IGG scores can certainly indicate celiac disease but they are more likely than elevated IGA tests to be caused by something else.

      Thank you— yes, valid and essential— The issue either doctors is that every one I have tried to talk to about this has essentially rolled their eyes and dismissed me as a hypochondriac, which gets discouraging. I believe a diagnosis would help me to be taken seriously by doctors as well as being validating, but can carry on without it.    There are many, probably most people in my area of my age and gender, who avoid gluten, but many just avoid it casually— eating the occasional plate of wheat pasta or a delicious-looking dessert, or baking cookies with wheat flour for gatherings.  That is not an option for me. I don’t eat other people’s cooking or go to restaurants that do not have strict cross- contamination procedures. It can be boring and lonely, and people do look at me as if I am being a bit dramatic but weeks of symptoms after a single small exposure has taught me to respect my experience.    Thank you very much for your response— sometimes I just need to hear that I am not crazy—
