I'm back on NDF drops. I'm doing only one drop every other day...cuz I'm learning that slooow is the BEST way to go. ;)

I took one drop Saturday and another today. OMG...been urinating all day. I think I'm detoxing. :)

I just dont get how one drop could cause all that...but its happened every time I've started NDF.

I'm detoxing through my skin alot too....my skin looks bad today...also my eyes burn...the same things happened after my sauna...except for the frequent urination.

YAY...I'm gonna start drinking lots of water to help myself even more. :)

I'm really bad about drinking water though. :(

If I can start racheling water that would be a HUGE accomplishment. :D

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has mutliple grian intolerances.

Hi,

Welcome to the board. :)

My post about corn is about a year old. This has been a very looooong topic. I cant eat grains but I'm actually sensitive to molds....so thats the main reason I have problems with corn and other grains.

I discovered alot of things over the past year and I'm now being treated for Lyme Disease, mercury toxicity and candida....which is basically what caused all my intolerances in the first place. I just started treament and hopefully when I recover I'll be able to eat normally again. :)

There are many people here who cant eat grains (plus a whole lot more). I think most people on this thread in particular avoid most...if not all grains.

Others will probably respond soon enough. :)

Hope you find the board to be a great resource.....theres alot of very helpful people here. :)

I just joined your site and your topic grabbed my interest because I have multiple food problems. I am intolerant to gluten as well as all grasses that are on the monocots side, wheat, rye, barley, rice oats, corn, sorghum, millet and others. After eliminating gluten from my diet more problems showed up when I increased my consumption of rice crackers, or corn chips or bread made from an alternative grain. Over time I found that a great many things were adding to the problem, that lead me to investigate the botanical side of the issue.

......

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has mutliple grian intolerances.

Or anyone with an elevated lipase. I am curious about how doctors have addressed that issue

Hi and welcome.

I avoid all grains and have since last October, after eliminating gluten (last May) and then dairy (last June) I still wasn't getting better. In October I had the Igenex test for Lyme and though it wasn't positive there was a consistent pattern that indicated a strong possiblity of it and coupled with the symptoms I had I proceeded to treat myself for Lyme. My tests came back for mercury toxicity at the same time. I am slowly finding my way back to health but it has been an arduous path.

The elevated lipase I don't know anything about but tomorrow I will look through all my test results, if I remember  , and see if there is anything there.

Too tired, my brain is no longer working. <_< It might be time for sleep.

So what is it about these chickens...why do you think they're bad??? Do you think its something with these chickens thats not good...do you think other chicken might not be so gross??

I'm just wondering if I dont actually have a problem with chicken...just as long as I get some better quality stuff. What do you think?? Heck...there must be something wrong with it if Micah knows its gross.... but will eat the other chicken. <_<

 You can't go by Micah, he doesn't like much. Everyone here loves the chicken we order from US Wellness Meats though. You could also order some of their beef. We have been thoroughly impressed. They overnight it and the cost is built into the pricing, but the pricing is really good.

Personally I think the problem with Rosie chicken is that the primary diet is grain. The chicken we order is raised the way chickens are supposed to be  however that is. The skin looks totally different and the taste is different, much better. They are also bigger and more mature which I suppose may make somewhat of a difference. Also, it seems like there is more fat on the Rosie chickens.

We always order the whole chicken but you don't have too. Check out the website and see what you think. You could always give it to your mom if it doesn't work out. They do have a $75 minimum order.

Otherwise you can just skip the chicken until you get detoxed some more.

We only have 1 chicken left and don't have the funds to stock up again until late summer. :(

Welcome. :)

I'm mildly intolerant to many grains but can eat corn, rice and sorghum. I only have corn occasionaly though.

I believe my intolerances are caused by mercury. Others have found that and/or lyme caused the intolerances to build, along with candida. Some are still looking for answers.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

You can start by warming up 2-3 glasses of water in the morning and drinking them before you go to work. You'll probably, actually want to start with 1-2 since you aren't used to it. Your body will love you for it though. :D

Drink another 1-2 during your lunch break while your lunch is cooking. You want to try not to drink with meals or 20-30 minutes on either side. It interferes with digestion time.

Drink another 1-2 when you get home and you can have 1 sometime before bed if you'd like.

The goal is 6-8 glasses a day minimum. That's what you need under normal conditions anyway.

Dear Bev,

Yep! I am getting me a yurt! It has to be large enough to fit at least three freezers so I can store my 4,000 Rinne Bars properly! :) That is extremely important. I am sort of a hippie anyway, so this works out well. I also need an endless supply of tie-dye shirts. This is essential!

Dear Donna,

Those smoosh fests are no fun at all! My mother gets that done, and she hates it! I get an annual exam with my pap smear. I also do a monthly self-exam. Mine breasts are always sore! They said too much salt and caffeine usually cause that.

Dear Carla,

You and your hubby are so adorable! ;) You guys look so good together! That pic was made the year I was born! You still look as good as you did then! I do not know what your anti-aging secret is, but I would like to know!

That is terrible about your medication being diluted! :o The pharmacy is responsible. Something strange is going on there. <_< I would not trust them. They could make you sick.

Dear Rinne,

Thanks for the site! Now, I have my groovy yurt page! I am currently undecided on decor. I have two sets of door beads. That would be nice in one of those things!

Dear djf3,

Welcome to the board! I may have more intolerances as well. The information you gave is interesting. I had no idea that those solutions they use have corn in them! My best friend's brother used to be allergic to it. It is difficult to avoid. All I know is, I can handle small amounts of things, but not several days in a row. It is so odd.

Sincerely,

NoGluGirl

P.S. This is my Glamour Shot from when I was 13.

Andrea....I felt really gross after I ate chicken Sat. night.

Theres something about the chicken. <_<

Its not that big a deal...I havent even eaten it in 8 months but after we talked I'm wondering if its just that particular brand of chicken??? So I wonder if all chicken makes me feel gross or just that I've been eating a gross brand??

I feel "sticky" after I eat chicken and I wake up with alot of fluid retention. <_< My hands get really sticky from eating the drumsticks. WTH?? Is chicken suppossed to be sticky like that??

Tonight when I went to WF I got my normal order of beef and then I looked at the signs for the organic chicken in the case. This is the same stuff I used to buy all the time. It said it was locally raised...in Petaluma...all of the organic chicken is from Petaluma. So then I went to look at the packages of Rosies chicken...and yeah...they're also from Petaluma....so its the same darned chickens. <_<

So what is it about these chickens...why do you think they're bad??? Do you think its something with these chickens thats not good...do you think other chicken might not be so gross??

Sheeesh...I just read my post.....I wrote the word "chicken" 13 times!!

Rachel-

#1 this is the cutest picture !!! I can just see you sitting there smiling like an angel while all the while planning some sort of weird mischevous act.

Ok #2 this is my weird chicken story- I really wanted to try to eat chicken again because for a while it was one of the few things I could eat. So I kept buying organic chicken cooking it up as plain as possible and I kept reacting to it- immediatly . So I was gonna give up and then for the heck of it and in a moment of weakness and frustration form having to cook everything I bought ians gluten free chick nuggets. Ok they have so much other stuff in them all of which I ahve had problems with at times but-- I have been able to eat them. Ok organic chicken- no but processed chicken with added crap - ok? I know it makes no sense but my body does not really follow the natural laws of sense. Ijust figured I'de share this with you. Sometimes I seem worse off wih the truly pure stuff liek its just to much for me to handle- My body the eternal mystery

For some odd reason every person I've had a serious relationship with was someone I strongly disliked to begin with.

Every single one of them....its strange.

You're going to think this is crazy, but I only dated two other guys (we got married young), and one was only for a month when I was in Mexico ... we'd have dated longer but we didn't live near each other. I didn't dislike either of the other two guys.

I think they are the inspiration for all the previously mentioned movies, with the exception of Pride and Prejudice, which was written way before.

Or m aybe they, too, were inspired by Pride and Prejudice! It's a common story line ... it seems it's common both in fiction and in real life!

And, if you can tolerate lemons, squeeze some into your water ... it will help alkalinize your system!

Welcome djf3! I am one of the exceptions on this thread (maybe the only one?), I can eat just about anything! Gluten is a no-no, but that's it, I can handle anything else. I tested positive for Lyme Disease and am getting treatment from a holistic physician in NY. Even though he's holistic, he has me on lots of meds because my bacterial load is so high.

I am starting to think the difference with me is that I had my amalgam fillings out back in 1991, so I don't have as much mercury to deal with as others here. I am also starting to think that mercury toxicity aggravates many conditions ... stress, too. Stress has always been my trigger for Lyme symptoms.

Donna- Sorry about the smushfest- had one recently. Didn't hurt cuz there ain't much to smoosh on me

Well me either...hardly fill out an A cup these days, lol, but it still hurt way more than normal. :P

My doctor prefers to have women go through a thermal scan. He believes it's ok for one mammogram for a baseline but also believes that having your cells squished can cause problems and cancer down the road as well. Besides, the scan picks up things much sooner where it is much more treatable.

OMGosh, I'm going to try to remember this for next year. I'd much rather go through a scan, especially if it's going to be the way it was yesterday. Yowza!

Squishes (smooshes) don't bother me so much--I get my usual anxiety beforehand, though....I'm not due till September.

I don't usually have anxiety before hand because they've never bothered me much...well, except the time I was already smooshed and I accidentally hit the button to raise the machine. The tech was beside herself because she didn't know what was happening. :P Still, that didn't hurt like yesterday.

Okay, I think the pharmacy did thin down my Mepron. The stuff I have now is thick like normal. Adam and my daughter both saw the thin stuff. I think that when the pharmacist took my stuff to the back while he was "looking" for another bottle of it that he switched mine to full strength. He was gone long enough to do that.

:o That is just shocking! Scarey too. I'm speechless actually...wish you could prove it because if he's doing stuff like that he should be reported to someone. Messing with the dosage like that could seriously harm someone!

So what is it about these chickens...why do you think they're bad??? Do you think its something with these chickens thats not good...do you think other chicken might not be so gross??

I have a problem with these chickens too. Remember back almost a year ago on this thread :P:lol: --I thought I had a problem with chicken causing my itching. It was the Rosie chickens I was buying. They have a different smell to them...once I even thought it was bad, but it wasn't, it was just a strong smell...not even a bad smell, just different. In December I bought 4 pounds of it, then went to Anna and discovered chicken wasn't good so gave half of it to my mom. She and my aunt ate it without problem. The rest is still in my freezer, but now I'm thinking I should just get rid of it. I don't remember having a problem with other kinds of chicken. I wonder if I should try something like Foster Farms, lol.

Corn chips actually could have something to do with it if they are really salty--if you retain water, there's more to smoosh.

Time of month is also key--apparently, mammograms are more accurate during the first 10-14 days of your cycle, as the second half of our cycles, we tend to--guess what--retain fluid, and things are harder to spot.

I can't tell what time of month it is, but it COULD be that time because I've been really emotional and my boobs have been pretty tender in addition to the sore spots. I eat a ton of salt every day too, but I don't think I retain much water unless it's really hot or something is really wrong with me. :)

I dont think I was normal to begin with ...but now with this stupid "chemical" thing I've got going on...I'm like on a whole 'nother realm of abormalism. So yeah...I think a yurt would suit me just fine.

Bev...could you design me a luxurious yurt please???

I would like to have my yurt installed on the outskirts of Rachelville...right by the beach.

How do you put those things together anyway??

Hope they come with some good directions.

 We can have our village of yurts in Rachelville...those who want other structures can have their subdivisions, lol. I think they probably have yurt installers...could be wrong though.

I just joined your site and your topic grabbed my interest because I have multiple food problems.

Hello and welcome! We've definitely got multiple food problems in this group. I eat very little grain (just the ocassional cheat like yesterday with some corn chips--very bad, lol). As with Rachel and many others here, I believe most of my food intolerances are due to mercury, candida, mold and/or lyme exposure.

I'm back on NDF drops. I'm doing only one drop every other day...cuz I'm learning that slooow is the BEST way to go.

Wow, love that glamour shot!!! You are very pretty!

Hum, I hope I don't have to give up my beloved salt. That might cause trauma that could never be fixed. That would be worse than telling me I could never eat a chocolate bumble bar again. :P

First, OMGosh!!! Jin, your HAIR color in that picture is INCREDIBLE!!! :o If you don't want it, I'll take it!!! Go back to your natural color and add a couple highlights around your face and Jennifer Anniston will want to copy YOU!!

Thank you for the comments on still looking young ... especially after you pointed out that you were BORN that year! I've grown up eating right and have been into organics for a long time. Supplements have always been big with me as I think our food has lost much of its nutritional value (remember, I live in farm country, I see the fields in the winter ... the dirt doesn't look rich at all). I've also been into exercise (weight lifting in particular, firm muscles always look young), fresh air, and sunshine (no sun goddess here, though).

The other three times I had Lyme symptoms, I got a little sun every day with no sunscreen, ate right, and got lots of rest. All three times it went into remission.

But I think the most important thing is ATTITUDE! I have wrinkles just like anyone else my age, it's all in how old you think you look -- how you dress, posture, smiles, etc.

Oh, I don't want to live in a yurt. I'm much more appreciative than I used to be of my house that locks out bugs! ;) I also need more space as I intend on having LOTS of grandchildren!!!

I think that the pharmacist switched my mepron back to full strength stuff when he went to the back "looking" for another bottle. He's right in an area where they are revitalizing downtown, so it has to have been hard on business, plus they've opened a new Kroger, Wal-Mart, Target, and Walgreens in our area in the past two years ... not that that forgives the act, but that the desperation might have caused him to do something he normally wouldn't have ... with mepron costing $2100 per month, it's a strong temptation to make a little more off it. If it were my first month of it, I never would have noticed.

I'm going to have my daughter look at it today because she noticed how thin it was, too ... it was obvious.

I don't eat much chicken. It's expensive to feed to our large family and I just don't like it very much. It's okay, and I eat it with no problem, I just like other meat better. It's too chalky and stringy and gets stuck all over my braces! I don't really know what the fascination our culture has with chicken is all about. It's almost like tofu ... it's all in how you cook it!

Miamia, I've eaten those nuggets, too. They're fun when you want some "healthy" junk food!

No, not a subdivision for me ... I'll live downtown! We love it! :P

Just be sure it's good salt and that you drink enough water. I think that Americans get too much bad salt (junk food, table salt), but I think good, mineral balanced, sea salt is good for you ... we need it.

It's like fat ... Americans get too much bad fat in junk food, but not enough essential fatty acids from good fats.

I have several food intolerances in addition to gluten--legumes, corn, soy, coconut, many grains, tapioca, and dairy. Makes meal planning interesting

I am able to eat some rice now, after completely avoiding it for 6 months.

Drive by (on my way to work). Donna- The smushfest could definitely bother you if you are nearing that time of the month. I had one recently for a breast lump and ironically the lump went away after the mammy gram- probably smushed it right out!

NoGluGirl- Now I know why they call them Glamour shots. You look so glamorous!!!!!!!

OK- designer yurts coming up! Of course, they will be assenmlbled by good-looking strong, gluten-free, Lyme free construction men. I will merely add the finishing touches- I'll watch the construction :P to make sure you're getting what you ordered and then once it's built I'll take over. So I guess I'd be more like a yurt interior designer. Every yurt will come with a secret force shield surrouunding it to protect you from anything (except the cute construction men and women because there are men on this thread).

Since I was originally in charge of the Rachelville Mountain Center (anyone see the irony in this now that I am being tested for Lyme? ) that too will be a super swank yurt.

OK...gotta go supervise the workers

Make sure you have real salt or himilayan salt. Himilayan is supposed to be the best, but is very cost prohibitive.

I called my doctor yesterday to talk to him about starting chlorella for me and Talitha. Do you guys take this in the morning hours? I bought the Yaeyama made by Jarrow Formulas in the powder form.

I also talked to him about iodine and he mentioned a really good book to look into about that. It's by a Dr. Brownstein (I think he's a doctor  ) and it's called "Iodine, why you need it". I'm going down next week when he's in the area to pick up some selenium that's not yeast based.

I also talked to him about chelation and he brought up the fact that I'm deficient in some of the minerals that could cause problems (such as selenium and zinc...I think there was one other one but I forget). Anyway, I told him I was getting my teeth taken care of and that we probably wouldn't be able to look into challenges until next year. I'm hoping we can tolerate the chlorella anyway just to have a small start.

Be careful with selenium, we need very little of it. I'd use kelp for iodine, especially if I were giving it to kids.

My doctor is big on supplementation. I like to supplement with normal doses of things so depending on the dosage I wouldn't take it every day.

Kelp, isn't that a powder? I think I've seen it in a powder anyway.

Dear Carla, Bev, Patti, and Andrea,

Thank you for the compliments! My hair looked better there because it had not turned to that darker brownish-mousy icky color. It did that the next year. Everyone was complimenting me who saw me from school when I had that done. I know how to make myself up like that.

I cannot get my hair to do that again! In fact, it was trying to fall flat within 45 minutes of that picture. I love the teased hair! It is so 80's! That was a great decade for hair and music! :)

Dear Carla,

It is good you have always been careful what you eat. I feel this GMO crap is killing us all. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! God made it well the first time, leave His work alone! Our bodies are not made to eat genetically modified corn.

If I could afford to eat all organic, I would. Goldie Hawn just turned 60 or so and she has always been a health foodie. You could never guess she is in her 60s. She looks wonderful! Natural foods and beauty products are the best when you can get them. Keep up the good work! Your body will thank you!

Dear Bev,

Yurt builders are so hot! Handy men are hot! ;) I have always had a thing for Bob Vila! I mean, think about it. If they are that good with tools, think what they could do to you! :P One of the workers comes with the yurt, right? Or, how about he can be my pool boy. However, there is a condition. He must wear speedos.

Dear Donna,

I do not like the idea of giving up my salt, either! :( Sometimes, you just gotta have it! I have never had Bumble Bars, but they sound good! I need chocolate now! I need to go to the store!

Sincerely,

NoGluGirl

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
