I'm happy for you, Laura! I hope this is the beginning of getting your health under control and to many better days ahead!

Laura, that's GREAT news!! I can honestly say, I know how you feel. Excited to have a diagnosis (we went out to celebrate the day I got my results), yet at the same time realizing you have a serious fight ahead of you.

You're strong, you'll be able to fight this now that you know what it is. It's been a long road for you. :D:wub:

.....just that, I think many, many people HIDE in their illnesses, and accept the wastebasket diagnoses and the state of illness, because in that state, much less is demanded of them as humans and as participants in the world.

It takes courage, strength, and not a small amount of ferocity and tenacity to become well.....as we all know. :) All, hallmarks of Citizens of Rachelville.

Love and happy Friday to all!

Beautifully said. :P:wub:

....

My goal is to get better.....not to see how many foods I can restrict from my diet, and not to outdo others with the strictness of my anti-candida regime. I'm focused on the bigger picture...which is to get my body to a healthy state by eliminating the toxic burden.

Well said Rachel. :)

Rachel,

I wasn't questioning your personal health issues or decisions. I tried to present an opposing viewpoint on the topic of lingering candida.

Apparently that makes me argumentative. Seems more like a mars/venus thing to me.

Sorry if I offended u or anyone else.

Hi Tom,

Todays news from Laura is a wonderful example of why this thread is so precious to us.

As to the Mars/Venus thing, could be.

Essentially you walked into a room with a group of mostly women who have formed a close friendship, some of us have been talking to eachother for over a year and most of us have been through HELL. It has been not only our illness, which is devasting enough, but with doctors who have treated us without respect and family and friends who think we're crazy.

If we are protective it is only because this is one of the few places we come to and know we are safe. :)

We are AMAZONS. :lol::lol::lol:

I've been wanting to say that all day--as usual, Rinne said it better than I could, and I thank her for it. :)

I return to that moment where I understood that with each breath I have a choice.

I can lean toward illness or I can lean toward wellness and the leaning itself has power, if the leaning is supported with nutrition, detoxification and treatment then wellness may be realized. Conversely, if I lean toward ill health even with nutrition, detoxification and treatment I may not ever get well. What is that?

I see a lot of people get tangled up in their sickness, their sickness becomes a belief system they imbed their lives in. I am not interested in that.

What can be poison for you may be cure for me, what cures me may harm you, the road to wellness is as unique as the person walking it.

What I love, love, love about this thread is our joy and determination to be well.

rinne- that is what we love about you! What you just said is so beautiful. Like you.

Almond Spice is far too bland for you....I shall christen thee Serendipitous Spice.

Susie- You are under rachelville House arrest on this thread. we NEED you here!!!!!!!!! Esp to make fun of me. I love a good ribbing!

Donna- You have a beautiful smile (from your other avatar) so I crown thee Smiley Spice.

Laura- YIPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a relief. It helps so much when what you're fighting has a name. I'm so happy for you!

Patti- That's great news about Marc's job.... I know you said PA but I forget where? Will you be close to Judy?

Tom (Murph)- yeah...you can go play that's great! And it could very well be the Mars/Venus thing. I think we also feel very protective of each other because we've been through so much in the 1171 pages of this thread! So, we are women hear us ROAR! Not at you, but at the thought of getting healthy!!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So-------its official. This is what I have AND I have the paper to back it up. I have an appt on Monday to discuss everything.

Thank you to everyone---I am overwhelmed---laughing and crying....but it is proof that something IS wrong. I don't know what I would have done without everyone. HUGSSSSSSS

I'm so glad you have your answers and know what needs to be fought now! :D

Love and hugs back to you.:wub:

I think I'm thirding or fourthing this. :P

We have grown very close over the last year. I'm the healthiest as far as symptoms go but I'm not taking that for granted. I'm also not sure if I have a candida problem and I'm not going there until my little guy is weaned late next year. He had enough of a problem with the tiny bit of chlorella I was taking.

I've pushed back my amalgam removal and crowns due to that. But, even if this thread is long dead by the time I can go through testing I will still keep everyone posted by email or pm's if I don't have their email address.

One of the reasons I'm still here is to learn but the far greater reason is my love for my friends here......that I've never met before this thread.

We welcome newcomers, this is not a clique, it's a growing family.

Dear Susie,

We are so glad you are here! You cannot leave. That is not allowed. You are being held captive in Rachelville. The dingos are guarding the gates. :P

silly girl! I am guarding the dingos! ;) But don't worry, we'll stick around.

BIG NEWS indeed!! :D

Lots of reading and catching up to do but just HAD to respond to this right now.

I'm so happy for you Laura....I know its not the BEST diagnosis in the world....but OMG...its proof...and its official.....and you are going to get better!! :)

No reasons for anyone to second guess you now. ;)

I know how much it meant to you to have those positive results...especially having gone through all the same stuff I went through with all the Dr.'s...getting the runaround and noone taking things seriously.

I know it must have been killing you to wait for the results...well....for me its always the worst part. I'm not very patient.

Just wanted to say congrats. :D

I never doubted you were on the right track with this but its certainly nice to have the positive results in your hands for reassurance. :)

I'm sure its really emotional for you to have these answers finally. Will look forward to your posts. I'm kind of pre-mature posting so maybe there is more info. I havent read yet.

Anyways.....YAY!!! :D

Now my next question is.....are you gonna show these results to any of your previous docs?? :P

happygirl Collaborator

rach-

real quick---- thanks for all your sweet words :)

and the running joke is that i'll send the results, with a nice letter (a la rinne!), and a picture of me, holding a certain finger up. don't worry, its a joke, but i've laughed (and cried) over it a handful of times already.

Yeah..its just the most exciting thing to me to see all my friends getting answers and I just know we're all gonna be healthy one day soon. :) We'll have a real-life Rachelville get together....lots of food and Rinne Bars for everyone!! :D

I still remember when Laura first joined us here....and she said something to the effect of never thinking she was as bad off as "Rachel is" and so she didnt think she really needed to join this thread....but made the decision to jump in anyways.

I think my face looked like this... :o....it was pretty funny though...I always laugh when I think of that.

Yeah....nobody wants to end up in Rachelville where people cant eat anything.

Little do they know how much fun we have. :P

Anyways...we're all really glad you did decide to join us Laura. We all love you and are very happy for you today.

If we are protective it is only because this is one of the few places we come to and know we are safe. :)

Yup...this thread is near and dear to us....our home away from home...the one place where the light is always on and everyones always welcome.

We are AMAZONS. :lol::lol::lol:

True that!!

EXACTLY! I was asked yesterday on my LAST video call with Standford and I stated exactly yes absolutely this is why I need the name! One, get proper care, two, not get worse.Im falling apart, stressed out, in pain and just opened email from Stanford stating I was rude ect.I want that video reviewed by higher ups and see if that women still has a job or not.Im saying this because I've been medically screwed and asking for help because bills don't pay itself. This could be malpratice siit but im not good at finding lawyers

We feel your pain. It took me 20+ years of regularly going to doctors desperate for answers only to be told there was nothing wrong with me … when I was 20 pounds underweight, suffering from severe nutritional deficiencies, and in a great deal of pain. I had to figure it out for myself. If you're in the U.S., not having an official diagnosis does mean you can't claim a tax deduction for the extra expense of gluten-free foods. But it can also be a good thing. Pre-existing conditions might be a reason why a health insurance company might reject your application or charge you more money. No official diagnosis means you don't have a pre-existing condition. I really hope you don't live in the U.S. and don't have these challenges. Do you need an official diagnosis for a specific reason? Else, I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you're diligent in remaining gluten free, your body should be healing as much as possible so there isn't much else you could do anyway. And there are plenty of us out here who never got that official diagnosis because we couldn't eat enough gluten to get tested. Now that the IL-2 test is available, I suppose I could take it, but I don't feel the need. Someone else not believing me really isn't my problem as long as I can stay in control of my own food.
    • AlwaysLearning
If you're just starting out in being gluten free, I would expect it to take months before you learned enough about hidden sources of gluten before you stopped making major mistakes. Ice cream? Not safe unless they say it is gluten free. Spaghetti sauce? Not safe unless is says gluten-free. Natural ingredients? Who knows what's in there. You pretty much need to cook with whole ingredients yourself to avoid it completely. Most gluten-free products should be safe, but while you're in the hypersensitive phase right after going gluten free, you may notice that when something like a microwave meal seems to not be gluten-free … then you find out that it is produced in a shared facility where it can become contaminated. My reactions were much-more severe after going gluten free. The analogy that I use is that you had a whole army of soldiers waiting for some gluten to attack, and now that you took away their target, when the stragglers from the gluten army accidentally wander onto the battlefield, you still have your entire army going out and attacking them. Expect it to take two years before all of the training facilities that were producing your soldiers have fallen into disrepair and are no longer producing soldiers. But that is two years after you stop accidentally glutening yourself. Every time you do eat gluten, another training facility can be built and more soldiers will be waiting to attack. Good luck figuring things out.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/
