Taken Seriously
Your post demonstrates the profound frustration and isolation that so many in the Celiac community feel, and I want to thank you for channeling that experience into advocacy. The medical gaslighting you endured for decades is an unacceptable and, sadly, a common story, and the fact that you now have to "school" your own GI specialist speaks volumes about... -

Looking for a gluten-free roomie in Denver CO
I had no idea there is a "Louisville" in Colorado!😉 I thought it was a typo because I always think of the Kentucky city--but good luck! -

Allergy medication: cetirizine by the HealthA2Z is it gluten free?
Navigating medication safety with Celiac disease can be incredibly stressful, especially when dealing with asthma and severe allergies on top of it. While I don't have personal experience with the HealthA2Z brand of cetirizine, your caution is absolutely warranted. The inactive ingredients in pills, known as excipients, are often where gluten can be hidden... -

Protein or fat?
What you're describing is indeed familiar to many in the Celiac community, especially in the early stages of healing. When the intestinal villi are damaged from Celiac disease, they struggle to properly digest and absorb fats, a condition known as bile acid malabsorption. This can cause exactly the kind of cramping and spasms you're seeing, as undigested... -

Diagnosed celiac for 1-2 months ago and everything makes me bloated.
I had a very rough month after diagnosis. No exaggeration, lost so much inflammatory weight, I looked like a bag of bones, underneath i had been literally starving to death. I did start feeling noticeably better after a month of very strict control of my kitchen and home. What are you eating for breakfast and lunch? I ignored my doc and ate oats...

I know--the more I find out, the more I think Celiac will be a sideline. But, we'll wait and see--any mention is better than none at all!
Just bumping this--tonight's the night!
I also saw preview and was wondering how they are going to tie celiac disease to this womans problems. Although with all the reading I've done I know some people do get seizures. I do hope this show is good. I for one will be Tivo'g it so I can watch again.
In one preview, she looked darnright possessed!
Let's hope it gets celiac "out there"......
Hugs.
Karen
It will be interesting to see what the "research" section of the website will reveal after tonight's episode.
Let's hope it doesn't make people with celiac look "out there"....
*fingers crossed*
Actually, I bet this stie will get hammered. Every here should be ready for it... IF celiac disease is the star of the show, then ppl will hope online, and guess what site comes up first in google..... I feel for the moderators!

Ha--got out just in the nick of time

Hey all, just checked on the time in my neck of the woods, and the summary says this (on tvguide.com site)
"A mother almost drowns her newborn son when she has a seizure while bathing him, but that's not what's causing his serious illness. And the mother's "seizure" turns out not to be a seizure at all. Meanwhile, Chase begins working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; Cuddy and Wilson have dinner together; and Foreman's back at work, though his mental acuity isn't all the way back."
So........hm.......maybe she has celiac? Tune in to find out! LOL! I will
