Carla does candida make you stiff and sore when it rains/ sorry you are not feeling good. A long time ago I had cnadida and took Nystatin for a LONG time, was so long ago not really sure about those problems. do know it was my first REALLY bad health experience. Not sure Dr's i know now would knpw about that problem, do you have to watch sweets? Raing here too and even tho cooler I have to keep house shut or I might be having pnuemonia..lots of mold and that fits/ candida..right? Feel for you, hope better soon!! :)

Rinne I really want to see your quilt project on here, sounds unique. Is it of the crazy quilt pattern? Makes me wish I could work on another necktie cushion top or?? But I have too much problem with r. wrist, just read that low thyroid (I have) can cause wrist and etc problems. Just thankful I can still quilt/ our Dorcas group even if have to wear protector on wrist. Several of you mentioned the quilt program I watched and want to x out the hgtv url, sounds very interesting!! :) Has me curious. A lot of beauty in some of the quilts in books and for real. Our quilt group has quilted a bunch of quilts from another state that have been so beautiful, when one of their club leaves they make her a frienship quilt & those have been a work of art. There are only 2 of us who have made quiilts from scratch but the rest have learned the art of tiny stitches so we are in demand to quilt for others. then we can use the money we earn wherever we see the need.

Our local TTT club will be putting on a quilt show in sept., I have taken some of my quilts for display in past. have given 1 to each of 3 daughters, each of 6 gr children as twin bed quilt when small and large quitl when they got married. Just gave gr. son his a few months ago, will be married 12/31/06...wanted it out of the house so they all had theirs.

Early post got in way past subject, anyway it caught up. watching that storm down Forida way, hoping it

FIZZLES out. Have good day all. evie

Evie, I'm not really sure. I just know that candida can get worse when it rains, but rain wouldn't affect gluten intolerance. I thought I had a candida problem, and that led me to discovering my gluten intolerance. But whether or not I really had candida, I don't know.

I'm feeling awful. I'm trying to find if there's someone I can see, but I have so little trust in docs, I don't know who to go to!

I know what you mean about Dr's, my Univ. dr. was to have me back last month but have not heard yet. Maybe he is waiting till my 6 mo. x up from time I saw him in May. has not done as much testing as i thought he would. It is a long way up there. Still having more problems than think I should. All think that I think..

Heard on noon news that Ernesto had been down graded, that is good news, hope it stays that way..

take care all...evie :)

Carla... you might want to ask for a B12 test... they don't usually do that with a normal CBC... just a thought.....

I don't know if he tested B12 or not, but I had read on this board that it can help, I also have read that you can't really overdose, so I started taking sublingual B12 a few days ago to see if it made a difference. So far nothing.

I like hearing thoughts though because I highly doubt that a doctor will be able to figure this out for me. If he does, it will be a first for me ever.

CARLA, please DO get a B-12 test! If you need B-12, you probably would need a lot more than what you've been taking sublingually, at least at first. Cecile was so low on B-12 that she had to have a shot every day for a while, to get her built up. So did my sister. Any doctor can help you with this - he doesn't have to be intelligent!!! :P:P:P

Carla--I have to agree with being tested for B12. I know it's not on the regular panel--my doctor had to specify on the order sheet for it.

Celiacs can have Pernicous Anemia where they can't absorb the vitamin from food. The sub-lingual or pills wont work for this--only injections help. A few people on the board have this and could be of more help.

I know what you mean, though about a doctor actually figuring out the *cause* of your fatigue. they're more likely to give you something for the symptom!

But the B12, in my opinion, is worth looking into.

AndreaB Contributor

Yes, check into b12 Carla.

I was given b12 by the holostic type doctor I went to based on my hair samples. They are injection. He gave me an injection, then I went about a month later and asked my doctor to test the blood levels. They came back normal (to them), but I don't know what the numbers were. I only had the one injection but I don't have the damage to my intestines.

DingoGirl Enthusiast

Hi girls....good to see everybody....

Carla - two months of not feeling well....so sorry. I would go to the naturopath, a friend has had great success with that, and look into injections also.

Cecile - - thinking and praying for you.....

Eveyrbody else - so nice to see you.....I am hungry and tired, will write later...had my job interview, it doesn't seem like a good fit...I had them describe exactly what there was to do besides answer the phones, and there wasn't much at all, except......EXCEL spreadsheets....hardly any visitors, they said maybe one a day, a very quiet office and right next door to my dad's old law firm.....many skeletons.....

But, in present state, I don't really feel fit to make decisions and brain is so muddled, can't think clearly, but I don't think this is a good one for me. In fact, in present state, I don't think I can work right away. :(

love and hugs to all of you - - thanks so much for all your support and kind words, pm's, everything - it means the world.

xoxo

ANDREA, you don't have to have celiac disease or gluten intolerance to have a B-12 deficiency. It's an autoimmune disease, separate from any other autoimmune disease. Maybe you should get re-tested. If you have it, you have to take shots the rest of your life. :(

Thanks everyone for the suggestion of getting tested for B12. Another autoimmune disease ... great ...

When I first went gluten-free, I felt much better, but have been dragging now for two months where I have too little energy to both go to the grocery and cook dinner, so Adam has to go to the grocery for me since he can't cook. Before that, I wasn't as fatigued. Does this sound normal for a B12 deficiency? Would it progressively get worse? I wonder why it would suddenly be a problem? Now, I don't know that there's been a time in the past year or so that I haven't been fatigued somewhat, but it has gotten worse steadily over the past couple months. I emailed my local celiac group and got an email from someone who lives near me who sent her phone number for a doctor recommendation ... I'll give her a call.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Thanks Celia, I'll be sure they test me for both.

CarlaB Enthusiast
Okay one more explanation... ... your liver holds enough B12 to last about 3-5 years... so depending on if and when you lost Intrisict Factor... your B12 will eventually become lower and lower... so YES.. it can and WILL get progessively worse...

But remember low B12 is a bit different then Pernicious Anemia even though they both deal with B12.

And remember to always ask your doctor don't depend on what anyone says. :)

Okay.. have been having one track mind lately... :o:lol: ... hello to everyone and please know I care about each and everyone of you...

Hurricane update... everyone is still guessing because Cuba will not let our hurricane planes fly over their air space... ... so the weather guys are just going by what they see on the radar and stuff... as soon as there is more info... I'll be posting... :D

What can cause you to lose it? I was VERY ill about 5 years ago (not celiac related -- doxycycline for 21 days) ... can illness cause you to lose it?

CarlaB Enthusiast

Thank you. I have about 7 of those symptoms!

CarlaB Enthusiast
Please let me know your results, I will be thinking of you.

Oh, I'll keep all of you posted.

Dingo wish you were on here tonight... having anxiety... uggg

I know we've talked about where you live ... but my memory is pretty bad! Did you say Tampa area? My dad is in St. Pete and owns a bar in Clearwater (I eat there btw, good steaks). You'll be fine, just a little rain by the time it gets to you!!

CarlaB Enthusiast

There wicked, that's for sure. I was one of the first people back on South Padre Island after that category 5 years ago. Very strange, so deserted. My family is from Florida ... been there since around 1900 ... I lived there, but far enough inland that we personally didn't have any problems. We were the area they evacuated to. I was in Austin, TX when a really bad one hit, it was even a bad storm when it got to Austin. It's like tornadoes, there are the really bad ones that freak you out and make you scared of all of them, when really, most of them turn out to be scary storms, but nothing more. I'm sure you'll be okay!! You had your turn already of having a bad one!

AndreaB Contributor

Celia,

I'm here too, if you need me. :)

AndreaB Contributor

Are the folks in good health?

My dad is 78 and would be perfectly able to get himself out of a situation like that, or do the best to get himself protected.

Your son, wife and daughter would also be able to get themselves protected.

It's natural to be concerned and want to do everything possible, even when that would be too much for you. Make sure they know the ropes if they haven't been in a situation such as this before. I wouldn't be at peace either, especially if I didn't give it to Jesus. You can only do what is humanly possible, and that is the best you can do. I keep telling my daughter to do her best and that's all that is expected of her.

Here's what I do, I lie down, I lie still and I count my exhalations to ten over and over again, all the while allowing myself to sink beneath my thoughts, seeing my thoughts as just reflections on the surface of the river as if I am rock settled deeply below all the rushing.

I am so glad the storm has abated and hope that it will be just a rainy night. How is the breathing going? :)

Back to reading the thread, I just wanted to say hello Cecile.

AndreaB Contributor

Do you have any excercises you are supposed to do to stave off an asthma attack? An inhaler or anything?

penguin Community Regular

I'm not sick of you posting :)

Yep, hurricanes are scary, no doubt about it. But you're prepared! You've done this before! YOU CAN DO IT!!! :)

AndreaB Contributor

Dogs are such a comfort. :)

penguin Community Regular
Do you guys ever feel like this?

Yes, every time I travel. :)

Or think about anything stressful, such as life, the universe, and everything...

Especially since the answer is 42 :P

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.

I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."
    • Scott Adams
Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
