I still wanna eat McDonalds everyday.

I would never ever do it....not even for one day but deep down....the desire for a Big Mac, chicken nuggets, fries and cheeseburger is still there....and yes, Supersize Me.....puleeeeze.

I am soooooo bad arent I. :(

No, you are not bad. My husband would die for some good McDonalds food but it's okay for him to want it because I know he would never be foolish enough to go himself a Big Mac.

Bad is not wanting to, bad is giving in! Wanting to & refraining means you are soooooo GOOD!

I'll second that. In fact, I'll third & fourth that also!

Then I'll have to fifth that. :P:P:lol:

I never really watched the show -- when I did I thought the character of Joey was funny. Now Rachel ... different reason to watch. :D

:lol::lol::lol:

Oh, and I love rollerblading....disappearing for a couple hours on rollerblades=fun times around the town

I was completely dairy free today :) so if I'm sick tomorrow....everyone knows why.....let's hope not though. It will probably be like the gluten....I won't really notice a difference until I go back to it

Very good point Leah!

Good luck Morgan on going dairy free. I've made it about a month now, and feeling pretty good. I don't have near the mucous build up as I did, so that has to be a good sign

Uh oh! You may risk cross contamination from me from time to time since my husband is the celiac one. For the most part I am gluten free but unlike Bill, I can cheat from time to time if my daughter wants to order pizza or something. However, we doctored up some Amy's gluten free pizza the night before last & then I took the leftovers for the lunch the next day & it was YUMMY!

That is what our deglutenizing chamber is for, and the gluten sniffing Dingo dogs, and protective geese, and probably the purple glittery bats come in to play here on some level.

For those wondering --- I am not gluten free yet --- darn doctors -- more testing to go. So, still have the same issues as previous posts. Yes, I did feel better on the gluten-free diet but, my family hx as previousy posted requires I get all the testing done. Hopefully done and over with by the end of September.

Omgosh, I just noticed this. Picard, you are not gluten-free yet??? Shocked! I just assumed you were.....

 Chandler is def. one of my favs, Ross is pretty funny too though.... It's hard to pick one favorite because they play off each other so well, the whole group is funny.

I dont like Phoebe

That one was funny, and the teeth whitening as mentioned already....hmm, remember when they poked ugly naked guy to see if he was still alive? Hmm, or when Chandler took a bath (with Monica's salts/candles)? That one was hilarious. Move the boat, move the boat!

:lol::lol:

All great moments, here's a couple more-

I love when Joey put on Phoebe's maternity pants to eat an entire turkey.

I LOVE when they do the flashbacks and Ross and Chandler are dressed up like the Miami Vice guys, or Chandler's Flock of Seagulls hair style :lol:

AndreaB Contributor

Julie,

I didn't realize Picard wasn't gluten free either. I thought he had other food intolerances.

New picture again everyone.j

We are Racheling some ice cream tonight. Still looking to buy an ice cream maker and use alternate milk products......somehow. Maybe dairy occassionaly. I just ordered some raw cheese to try. Maybe that won't be so bad since it isn't pastuerized.

Hi Dan and celiac3270,

Are you two going to join us?

Hi Linda,

Hi Linda,

Good to see you again. :P

OH! Now we're spying on people?

I can't figure out how to do two quotes, but I hope the dingoes are friendly. I had Eggos for breakfast. (I did brush my teeth!) Mostly I sneak gluten when Ty's not around. He doesn't usually seem to care, but I try not to wave it in his face. His brother on the other hand...gluten with extra gluten sprinkled on top, please.

As far as a Rachelville job...I can edit, p.a. and direct the Rachelville TV News. If there is such a show. You'd need someone to shoot, report and anchor it though.

We have Good Morning Canada (a rather boring cross-Canada Saturday morning talk show) coming to our affiliate in September. I have already pitched Celiac Awareness Month for October with 3 or 4 ideas and today our assignment editor sent a shooter to catch the Cycling for Celiac group coming into town. Unfortunately they rode too fast, so we didn't get them cycling, but at a restaurant eating. Edmonton will have to send someone out on Sunday to get them coming home. It was a ten-day ride from Victoria, BC through the Rockies to Calgary and then up to Edmonton.

Ok, Julie: Make your list, and everyone can make lists and we can compare and then maybe meet up and take a trip! I am game for it!!!! :D:D:D

OK, here is my list-

Other than what I mentioned before, visiting every state to see beautiful things (i.e. Blue Ridge Mtns), I want to also:

Go all over Mexico, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, England, Spain, and Greece to name a few

Learn to in-line skate/ice skate

Go roller skating again!

Take up golf, again!

Take up skiing, again!

Run in a marathon ( a short one  )

Try rock climbing

Hike some well known place (?)

Learn more Spanish, dang it!

Learn to sew

Grow a garden

And that's about all I can think of for now :D (I'm sure I am leaving some things out....)

What is everybody elses 'to do' in this lifetime list???

But I think you are right, a picture in natural light would give us a better sense of the color.

Sounds like a perfect job for you :)

Celia is/was our newscaster....need to see if she is still interested. Morgan is our newswriter. You can edit and direct the shows.

What's p.a.?

Julie,

P.A. Production Assistant. It mostly consists of counting backwards. 30. 15. 10, 9, 8, etc. "super in" "lose super". A super is the thingy that has the guys name on who is talking. So if Andrea B is talking about reading labels for 4 hours her first trip to the grocery after diagnosis, a graphic would come on underneath Andrea's face that says: Andrea B/Recently Diagnosed with Celiac or Andrea B/Thinks Gluten Sucks or something like that.

It's the perfect job really. I'm very bossy and so as the director I tell people what to do and they HAVE to do it. It's their job to listen to me. (I direct the late news 4x a week.)

I'm at work right now. I have to go edit a story about more and more pets getting sent to the Humane Society because of the lack of housing here and especially pet friendly housing.

You mean new picture of the fellas? It's from July at Stampede. I have one from holidays I have to put up soon.

Linda,

That sounds interesting. :)

I've been buying my seeds and nuts from Prana Organics for a number of years because the products have been GFCO-certified. I just got a new order delivered of their flax and sunflower seeds, and it turns out that they are no longer GFCO-certified. Instead, it just has a generic "Gluten Free" symbol on the package. I reached out to them to ask what protocols/standards/testing they have in place. The person that wrote back said that they are now certifying their gluten free status in-house, but that she couldn't answer my questions related to standards because the person with that info was on vacation. Not very impressed, especially since it still says on their website that they are GFCO-certified. Buyer beware!

Hi @Dizzyma I note what @trents has commented about you possibly posting from the UK.  Just to let you know that am a coeliac based in the UK, so if that is the case, do let me know if can help you with any questions on the NHS provision for coeliacs.    If you are indeed based in the UK, and coeliac disease is confirmed, I would thoroughly recommend you join Coeliac UK, as they provide a printed food and drink guide and also a phone app which you can take shopping with you so you can find out if a product is gluten free or not. But one thing I would like to say to you, no matter where you live, is you mention that your daughter is anxious.  I was always a bit of a nervous, anxious child but before my diagnosis in mid-life my anxiety levels were through the roof.   My anxiety got steadily better when I followed the gluten-free diet and vitamin and mineral deficiencies were addressed.  Anxiety is very common at diagnosis, you may well find that her anxiety will improve once your daughter follows a strict gluten-free diet. Cristiana

Welcome to the celic.com community @Dizzyma! I'm assuming you are in the U.K. since you speak of your daughter's celiac disease blood tests as "her bloods".  Has her physician officially diagnosed her has having celiac disease on the results of her blood tests alone? Normally, if the ttg-iga blood test results are positive, a follow-up endoscopy with biopsy of the small bowel lining to check for damage would be ordered to confirm the results of "the bloods". However if the ttg-iga test score is 10x normal or greater, some physicians, particularly in the U.K., will dispense with the endoscopy/biopsy. If there is to be an endoscopy/biopsy, your daughter should not yet begin the gluten free diet as doing so would allow healing of the small bowel lining to commence which may result in a biopsy finding having results that conflict with the blood work. Do you know if an endoscopy/biopsy is planned? Celiac disease can have onset at any stage of life, from infancy to old age. It has a genetic base but the genes remain dormant until and unless triggered by some stress event. The stress event can be many things but it is often a viral infection. About 40% of the general population have the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% actually develop celiac disease. So, for most, the genes remain dormant.  Celiac disease is by nature an autoimmune disorder. That is to say, gluten ingestion triggers an immune response that causes the body to attack its own tissues. In this case, the attack happens in he lining of the small bowel, at least classically, though we now know there are other body systems that can sometimes be affected. So, for a person with celiac disease, when they ingest gluten, the body sends attacking cells to battle the gluten which causes inflammation as the gluten is being absorbed into the cells that make up the lining of the small bowel. This causes damage to the cells and over time, wears them down. This lining is composed of billions of tiny finger-like projections and which creates a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients from the food we eat. This area of the intestinal track is where all of our nutrition is absorbed. As these finger-like projections get worn down by the constant inflammation from continued gluten consumption before diagnosis (or after diagnosis in the case of those who are noncompliant) the efficiency of nutrient absorption from what we eat can be drastically reduced. This is why iron deficiency anemia and other nutrient deficiency related medical problems are so common in the celiac population. So, to answer your question about the wisdom of allowing your daughter to consume gluten on a limited basis to retain some tolerance to it, that would not be a sound approach because it would prevent healing of the lining of her small bowel. It would keep the fires of inflammation smoldering. The only wise course is strict adherence to a gluten free diet, once all tests to confirm celiac disease are complete.

Hi all, I have so many questions and feel like google is giving me very different information. Hoping I may get some more definite answers here. ok, my daughter has been diagnosed as a coeliac as her bloods show anti TTG antibodies are over 128. We have started her  on a full gluten free diet. my concerns are that she wasn’t actually physically sick on her regular diet, she had tummy issues and skin sores. My fear is that she will build up a complete intolerance to gluten and become physically sick if she has gluten. Is there anything to be said for keeping a small bit of gluten in the diet to stop her from developing a total intolerance?  also, she would be an anxious type of person, is it possible that stress is the reason she has become coeliac? I read that diagnosis later in childhood could be following a sickness or stress. How can she have been fine for the first 10 years and then become coeliac? sorry, I’m just very confused and really want to do right by her. I know a coeliac and she has a terrible time after she gets gluttened so just want to make sure going down a total gluten free road is the right choice. thank you for any help or advise xx
