ummm, maybe I didn't read carefully enough ;) , but where's the yeti in that?

 sneaky reference to another thread!

Seems generic is in a different trial - one w/ 5 groups?

So it's not enough for our Yeti to Lead our parade through blizzards, stay at our homes and repeatedly have Emily measure his inseam - now we must include him in our EVery POST??

(I DID think I saw the 1992 Ottawa Blues Festival's Official Program showed a tall hairy fellow on bass for one of Dylan's opening acts. Must've been Bob's mumbling that led to him being misidentified as 'eddie')

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Tom, all I can say is that your versing (n. sing.: written verse, particularly for musical scores) makes every bit as much sense as Dylan's did, or ever has.

Heehee I've got the sheet music in front of me and it actually follows the structure & cadence pretty well <Ed Grimley voice> "I must sayyyy" :o<_<

Well, hey, hey, now!.....check out MY cadence, stress and metre in my chorus...I'm figgering it's not too off, considering I didn't have the sheet music in front of me (just singin' it in my head)....:lol:

I KNOW TO WHOM YOU'RE REFERRING!! That's the very Bluesfest I was at, 1992, and the Tibetan diplomat that was part of our entourage kept saying, (in very poor English, I must admit), "That big hairy man on big guitar...he look like mountain creature from my country"....over and over. I just kept correcting his grammar and shushing him. It all makes perfect sense, now....

Tom-nope only 10 pages and the end to my reign. I was married during my reign as Queen and my King needs some attention so I must past my crown to the next lucky Queen or maybe a King! A first for Sillyville!

Ok- just lost my whole post- AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

The yeti is coming to me for the weekend? Excellent- my niece turns 2 on Sunday and BOY will she be surprised when she sees him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ridgewalker Contributor

Ok, I fell asleep ridiculously early tonight, and now I'm up at 2am and can't sleep. And noooobody's here! *sigh*

Guess I'll do some laundry... maybe make cupcakes... I'm a little wired from my back pills. All that puking and diarrhea last week made my back flare up. <_< Vicodin makes everyone in the world sleepy- except me. It makes me bounce off the walls. I am so backward.

Amanda, yes the Queen's consort must not be neglected! How is he feeling, by the way? Pneumonia resolved, I hope?

Is your king feeling better? This warm-one-day-cold-the-next weather can't be helping very much

Well--perfect timing, then! :D Yes, most excellent when you show up with the Yeti--I'll send him with a nice, respectable outfit for the kids....Mark won't miss it, believe me, and it will be much more suitable than the shell bikini ;)

I hate when that happens--so, did you get a lot done? :P

Mornin' all!

There was an unveiling of sorts up here, and I think I know where our yeti was when he went unaccounted for last week. Looks like he was out west doing some modelling....

Open Original Shared Link

Gee, I guess it didn't take them much time to rip the shell bikini off him and get him into snowmobile boots and a tuque...

elye Community Regular

Hey, I just noticed something...Is that a tattoo on our yeti's arm?! A tatto of an inukshuk?....mygawd, what have they done to him?...

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

Actually the king is slowly starting to feel better, he went back to work last week. One good thing about the pneumonia..John has quit smoking, and this coming Friday will be 3 weeks!!!!

This warm-cold day is annoying. It's going to be December, let it just get cold so we can get used to it.

Well, it's nice to know he's got a payin' gig once he's done painting everyone's ceilings and working a few birthday parties.

BTW - I think they must have done some retouching on the photo shoot. Don't you think he looks younger and slimmer?

I think he's getting bored, I have him helping me hang pictures. It'll be fun for him at Bev's niece's birthday party--much more excitement.

I do think so. In fact, they've really stylized him to look like some cute stuffed animal--it's no longer the yeti we know and love. They've absolutely added some hair extensions and air-brushed some fat away.

Not that I enjoy the dreaded combo of correcting people & the accompanying void of dates, but that's not entirely true. <_<

Did King Richard make a wrong turn during a parade? :o

Goodness I hope he hasn't been abducted!! Any unopened mail at the Royal Palace? Perhaps something w/ the address 'written' in meticulously-snipped letters from assorted magazines? (Speaking of which - I think my December copy of Yeti Fancy must have gone to the Phx apt. Grrrrr  )

Would the Queen please have a trusted subject or two go look for a possible ransom note?

Regardless, even if I'm blessed w/ the 1st post of p.400, I'll never be King. Lord was suggested ~p.299, but Prince, or some unpronounceable symbol would also be acceptable. (Overlay these into one?

JoyfulM Rookie

I am soooo confused...

In 1992 I was listening to "Wee Sing Bible Songs."

I saw my dermatologist yesterday. She is no longer my dermatologist.

To quote my mom, "The woman at the front desk knew more than she did."

She never did the blood test for Celiac...just the biopsy. WTH!?! :o:blink:

Now I have to get that test done. If it turns out that I do not have DH, then I'm back at square one with annoying breakouts on my arms and legs.

we can almost consider Richard MIA....either that or he is working....A country unheard of!

Skin biopsy??? (as opposed to small bowel biopsy)

Plus (I'm sure you know) but if you've been gluten-free for any length of time it will skew any bloods testing for celiac disease <_<

No coincidence. Recent revisions to gluten challenge guidelines call for the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten (about the amount in 4-6 slices of wheat bread) for a minimum of 3 weeks. If possible, I would extend that two weeks to ensure valid testing.
    • SilkieFairy
Thank you both for the replies. I decided to bring back gluten so I can do the blood test. Today is Day #2 of the Challenge. Yesterday I had about 3 slices of whole wheat bread and I woke up with urgent diarrhea this morning. It was orange, sandy and had the distinctive smell that I did not have when I was briefly gluten free. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but the brain fog is back and I feel very tired.

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!

Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?
