NO, NO.........T'was wayyyy back (don't do it! :o ) during King Richard's reign.....I think it was

''Children of the SillyYaks & the Swinging Dingoes''

 before my time

I dunno Tom  it would make them awfully nervous - their people were forced into cleaning chimneys many a year ago - and the soot is not good (a few are asthmatic :( )

Shucks!

But maybe I've got room in the bar now that I'm not much of a drinker. :)

Unfortunately I'm finding out that my roommate (1st roommate in ~13 yrs) is more of a drinker than expected. During all of my trips over the summer I stayed w/ him and maybe not once saw him drunk. But, aha, that was while his wonderful 8yr old Lauryn was here too.

Loud, illogical drunk John wears on me. :(

Those infamous little people...able to be scaled? I need to know the nature of these beings. They have scales? And one would remove them for cosmetic reasons, I should think. You're not planning on consuming them, Tom? Pan-fried with a bit of lemon and dill? :o (Green guy)...'tis another reason to....scale something.

Or perhaps you're wondering if they are scaleable as, for example, Mount Everest is, for a chosen few. I should think that these little guys are NOT scaleable in this manner, and attempting it would kill them.

Emily, thank you for bringing this up. I, too, was rather taken aback at the "scaleable" query....... :o

Good Lord, Nikki, do they have scales? It had not occurred to me that our Little People would be squamous.

Nah....I MUCH prefer the "This is my dead cat" profile info. Susie, do it. Dunno how many newbies will be reading your posts, though.:lol:

Yup, forum's changed a lot in the time I first joined (nearly two years)....I don't remember seeing words like YETI in the captions.........

If we can "scale" that Yeti down, maybe he can come by our house for a couple days!

In fact, scale him down far enough, and I'll hang him on the tree next to the Bumble ornament!

Oh yeah, he'll come back to Nikki asking her to pull his finger... asking if he can borrow a couple bucks... if he stays in NC long, he'll be wanting grits and gravy for breakfast... and he'll greet her with, "Hey Ya'll! I had a good ole time over yonder!"

oh good Lord - can anything be worse than an AMERICANIZED Yeti? I don't think so.......

LOL---I love John but I hate when football is on...He gets loud and acts dumb, boys will be boys I guess!

Loud and dumb

Loud, illogical drunk John wears on me. :(

:o

Yes, it would wear one out......maybe you should put those poodle earmuffs on, and scale the Yeti?

I couldn't bear that!!! .......nope, just cute miniatures - no forked tongues thanking you!!!

 leave it to Emily, our Emirate of Elaborative Expounding!!

It appears that perhaps everyone but the Grammatical Co-Poohbahs saw 'scaleable' as intended. Hmmmmm . . .. .interesting. (And NOT just in a bump-my-post-count-hurrying-to-501's-captionality-way!!)

So Sunday morning, I fixed my hair and got ready for Mass, and came out into the living room... and Lucas said, "Mommy you look beautiful! And YOUNGER!"

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww :)

At our house we say pop instead of soda...He can take that back and he did start to root for the NY Giants with John so he may have picked up the habit of yelling at the TV!

Pop!!! In Chicago we say pop and I never knew where else it's said.

I STILL don't like saying soda.

I gotta say I imagine Brits do more than a little yelling at the telly during a match on the pitch.

That sounds about right. I say "pop" and I'm from south western NY. I think "soda" sounds goofy. :P But that's all you hear down here.

To Scale Down the Yeti...an excellent ring to that. I hear another coin-phrasing episode approaching...

Why are we concerned about scaling down the yeti? Man, I gotta scale down my vet bill, my driveway snowdrifts, my laundry piles, my MIL (who arrives for an eighteen-day Christmas stay next week...) :o:o , gad! On it goes...

Hey! They can be female...Few people make more noise when watching hockey or football than I. Quite embarrassing, actually....even for me!

Bumble! You know, the Bumble? The abominable snowman from the Rankin/Bass claymation classic, "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer"????

Aren't the abominable snowman and the yeti the same thing? These guys could be cousins!

.... and can I just say EEEEK!!???!?! My husband's company Christmas Party is this Friday, and I don't know what to wear. May not sounds like a biggie, but OMG clothing- and hair-related dilemmas have been known to drive me into a crying, red-faced frenzy. I know, there is something wrong with me.

Last year, I felt overdressed, which I think is WAY worse than being underdressed. I thought, maybe I can wear the same black skirt and dress it down. Then I wondered, "Will someone remember the skirt from last year?" No, surely not.... then I realized that I remember what every other woman at our table was wearing from last year.

Am I a freak, or does everyone remember stuff like that?!

Anyhoo... I regret having to inform you all that you're likely to hear from me again on this situation between now and Friday...

My weren't you all busy while I was gone to the peidatrician . . . AGAIN!!! My daughter does NOT have strep (although her medication may have messed up the results) so we have both a strep cootie and a stomach virus cootie simultaneously inahbitating household (although, no chicken butt cooties). This may turn into ALL kinds of fun.

How long is the lease? When does his daughter come back?

You guys

OMG I thought of somethign else......we at times can actually refer to all sodas as COKE out here. So...someone will say - "do you want a Coke" when they really mean - any kind of SODA POP  but since Coke was the first one - right after sarsaparilla - I think - people will axe you if you want a Coke......

Scaling down the Yeti.....yet another in a string of hits by the Bad Ass Snow Poodles...

Anyhoo... I regret having to inform you all that you're likely to hear from me again on this situation between now and Friday...

 Calm thyself. We are here to help.

Okay.....FIRST of all - NO - everyone does NOT remember what you wear, although some women will. But you are NOT to worry, and in fact you can wear the EXACT same thing you wore last year, but change your accessories/jewelry etc, and no one will notice. I think you're quite safe to go with basic black and some variances.

OMG I once scored a major fashion coup, over 15 years ago........it was a black suit, with tuxedo lapels with just a hint of satin on them......and an above-the-knee skirt.......made by Tahari. Originally it was around $800 :o then was half off that, then half off again......then there was this weekend where everything was an additional something-percent off, AND I had a coupon.....so I got the suit for around $125. Sounds like a lot......but I wore it to every formal occasion for nearly a decade (back when life was occasionally glamorous). You cannot imagine the compliments I got........because everyone would show up all sequined and spangled - and I was so proud in my extremely well-made, understated and very elegant black suit......friends called it my Magic Suit......... and it really did have power.......

oh, to be young, eating gluten, and a statuesque size TWO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(once again, Susie must evaluate: mental/physical health.........or extreme thin-ness and vanity.......mental/physical health........or extreme thinness and vanity................)

I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh gawd...

oh dear, Sarah.......

let me clarify.

I would ONLY remember if you wore something really ghastly and wore it again, or REALLY outstanding (like a Chanel suit), and wore it again.

If you're anywhere in between those two, I would NOT remember, honest truth.

so sorry to have caused you such duress!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now speaking of Coco Chanel, let's remember her theory, which was something like.....if a woman walks into a room with a very busy, showy, or crazily-patterned outfit, people will say "look at that dress..." but if she walks in, carrying herself with great posture and poise in something quite simple and understated, highlighting the figger or whatever, they will say "look at that WOMAN."

Go with teh basic black, I PROMISE you no one will remember.

:)

This happened to me as well. What’s weirder is that within a couple hours of taking paxlovid it subsided. I thought maybe I got glutened but after reading your post not so sure.

Hi Tiffany. Thank you for writing your dituation and  circumstancesin such detail and so well writte, too. I particularly noticed what you wrote about brain for and feeling like your brain is swelling and I know from my own experiences that's how it feel and your brain really does swell and you get migraines.    Way back when I was in my 20s I read a book by 2 MD allergist and they described their patient who came in complaining that her brain, inside her cranium, was swelling  and it happened when she smelled a certain chemical she used in her home. She kept coming back and insisting her brain actually swelled in her head. The Drs couldn't explain this problem so they, with her permission, performed an operation where they made a small opening through her cranium, exposed her to the chemical then watched as she brain did swell into the opening. The DRs were amazed but then were able to advise her to avoid chemicals that made her brain swell. I remember that because I occasionally had brain fog then but it was not a serious problem. I also realized that I was becoming more sensitive to chemicals I used in my work in medical laboratories. By my mid forties the brain fog and chemicals forced me to leave my  profession and move to a rural area with little pollution. I did not have migraines. I was told a little later that I had a more porous blood brain barrier than other people. Chemicals in the air would go up into my sinused and leak through the blood brain barrier into my brain. We have 2 arteries  in our neck that carry blood with the nutrients and oxygen into the brain. To remove the fluids and used blood from the brain there are only capillaries and no large veins to carry it away so all those fluids ooze out much more slowly than they came in and since the small capillaries can't take care of extra fluid it results in swelling in the face, especially around the eyes. My blood flow into my brain is different from most other people as I have an arterial ischema, adefectiveartery on one side.   I have to go forward about 20 or more years when I learned that I had glaucoma, an eye problem that causes blindness and more years until I learned I had celiac disease.  The eye Dr described my glaucoma as a very slow loss of vision that I wouldn't  notice until had noticeable loss of sight.  I could have my eye pressure checked regularly or it would be best to have the cataracts removed from both eyes. I kept putting off the surgery then just overnight lost most of the vision in my left eye. I thought at the I had been exposed to some chemical and found out a little later the person who livedbehind me was using some chemicals to build kayaks in a shed behind my house. I did not realize the signifance  of this until I started having appointments with a Dr. in a new building. New buildings give me brain fog, loss of balance and other problems I know about this time I experienced visual disturbances very similar to those experienced by people with migraines. I looked further online and read that people with glaucoma can suffer rapid loss of sight if they have silent migraines (no headache). The remedy for migraines is to identify and avoid the triggers. I already know most of my triggers - aromatic chemicals, some cleaning materials, gasoline and exhaust and mold toxins. I am very careful about using cleaning agents using mostly borax and baking powder. Anything that has any fragrance or smell I avoid. There is one brand of dishwashing detergent that I can use and several brands of  scouring powder. I hope you find some of this helpful and useful. I have not seen any evidence that Celiac Disease is involved with migraines or glaucoma. Please come back if you have questions or if what I wrote doesn't make senseto you. We sometimes haveto learn by experience and finding out why we have some problems. Take care.       The report did not mention migraines.

Hi Jmartes71 That is so much like my story! You probably know where Laytonville is and that's where I was living just before my 60th birthday when the new Dr. suggested I could have Celiacs. I didn't go on a gluten challange diet before having the Celiac panel blood test drawn. The results came back as equivical as one antibody level was very high but another, tissue transaminasewas normal. Itdid show I was  allergic to cows milk and I think hot peppers. I immediately went gluten free but did not go in for an endoscopy. I found an online lab online that would do the test to show if I had a main celiac gene (enterolab.com). The report came back that I had inherited a main celiac gene, DQ8, from one parent and a D!6 from the other parent. That combination is knows to sym[tons of celiac worse than just inheriting one main celiac gene. With my version of celiac disease I was mostly constipated but after going gluten-free I would have diarrhea the few times I was glutened either by cross contamination or eating some food containing gluten. I have stayed gluten-free for almost 20 years now and knew within a few days that it was right for me although my recovery has been slow.   When I go to see a  medical provide and tell them I have celiacs they don't believe me. The same when I tell them that I carry a main celiac gene, the DQ8. It is only when I tell them that I get diarrhea after eating gluten that they realize that I might have celiac disease. Then they will order th Vitamin B12 and D3 that I need to monitor as my B12 levels can go down very fast if I'm not taking enough of it. Medical providers haven't been much help in my recovery. They are not well trained in this problem. I really hope this helps ypu. Take care.
