Happy New Year Nikki - How's 2008 lookin' so far? Are we going to like it?

Our plans just fizzled. We were suppose to go to the neighbors across the street. I called to find out what time to come and what to bring and was informed it was cancelled due to lack of interest/too many people out of town. Bah!!!!

I now have a new plan. After putting the kids to bed, I will make myself a toasted almond (Kalhua, Amaretto, & Ice Cream) and watch Chicago (I have it on DVD)!

OMG!!!!!!!!! my mom was here, photo shoot of the girls and me for my fabulous idea of New Year's cards, managed to get even Stinker up on the couch.......I look rather okay, for once.....she took about 40 pictures, in two sets, on my digital.......and EVERY SINGLE ONE blurry beyond recognition.

Do you not see that this is perfect for New Year Eve pictures? It's an artistic representation of how you all were feeling and all that.

And has anybody heard if the special adhesive garland (ie, duct tape) was all that Alex needed to finish off her tree?

Yes!! We finally got our tree to stand up with a combination of rope and duct tape. My dad thought it was hilarious when he saw it.

Happy New Year!!!

I hope 2008 is happy and healthy for everyone

It's still long!

A couple months ago I cut about three inches off .... I had lost so much hair that when it grew back about six inches of ends looked really bad because what didn't fall out had really bad breakage ... I have about three inches of ends that still need cut but I'm letting it grow a little more first.

It does need a good cut once in a while, doesn't it? :)

John got some much needed rest this weekend and we are off tomorrow, he was off at 12 today. I think that helped!!!!

Patti I love your hair!!!

We are watching Jon and Kate plus 8. Those parents are always quarrelling....I think that is why John likes it.

Just a quick visit to say HAPPY NEW YEAR, SILLIES.

I know some stuff about cats, but feline behavioUr is a special subject in itself. They understand it, but tell us humans very little. We don't know how our tortoiseshell knows when we are finished dinner, but she does. She knows that it is time to ask for treats. We can finish our salads and get up--nothing. If we are planning a dessert, nothing happens after the main course. But when we finish the last course, whatever that may be, she knows!

Other cat behavioUr questions I will leave to next year to ponder.

Janet, it is good to finally see you. Patti, you are looking good.

Nikki, you are getting to understand me too well. ;)

Emily, keep an eye on the yeti. A New Year may bring forth uninhibited exuberance about the future causing him to exhibit unlimited enthusiasm for 2008. Be careful you don't step in it! :o

HAPPY NEW YEAR Sillies!!!! (I have an hour and a half to go....)

Amanda, I watch John and Kate Plus 8, SIX 3 year olds is madness, craziness! I just stare and shake my head in awe at all the chaos  I kinda like Kate, she's really spunky.

OMG Emily, I was reading through catching up and I almost had a pee in my pants moment when you said you wake up with the 2 cats staring at you and amazingly enough the yeti is in right there in the middle of them staring too.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Sorry Susie, that is where our similarities in tastes in movies end because I LOVE Chicago and Moulin Rouge, in fact Moulin Rouge is probably on my top 5 favorite list.

And YES, do it! Run around Stepford with the Zombie guy banging your pots and pans as loud as you can. Better yet take your Iroquis skull crusher with you, nobody will notice a thing.....make sure you capture this kodak moment for us all.

Janet and Carla, that's so neat you guys met up. I'll have to go back and check out the avatar, and Patti's too!

Feel better Nikki!

Bev you too!

I got this cute email with Garfeild, member him? It said something like we all get fat when we get older because we have retained so much information in our brain that there's no more room so it spills over into our body

*edit, great picture of you Janet and Carla.

And Patti you look gorgeous!! Are you by chance wearing your new Everyday Mineral make-up??!?!?

Julie- Those babies, the sextuplets were born in the hospital John and I work at...Did you ever see the one where they go to the NICU reunion? It was filmed at our hospital.

Welcome to 2008, everybodyyyyy!

I'm the FIRST silly to post this year! I think I should have some sort of honoUrary mention...no crown or royal posting, please (Gasp! Which is coming up, is it not? The big 500th page?!))...But I do notice some after midnight postings, my time, from last night. So I guess I'm not cutting it--once again, a little late.

Great party last night. We wanted to disguise the yeti somewhat, as we figured that he may terrify the little kids. We could find nothing that would cover him enough, and/or that was big enough. Finally, the light bulb went off. I rushed to my husband's garden-fresh hockey bag, pulled out the equipment, and on it went.

Just got the helmet, visor, and cage on his head, pads had to really stretch. He accompanied us to the party as a European relative on the National Slovenian U21 team. Amazing...no one asked why he came to the party in his full gear. No one stared and then left the room as I introduced him (like at OTHER get-togethers of the holidays)... <_<

John is still recovering, he has a viral infection....he just cannot face marriage :)

:lol: ...THAT'S why my DH gets many colds!!

Amanda--we're in for the night, too. :) Got the tree and the decorations taken down and put away.

ALL the decoration are GONE! AWAY!! Feels like Christmas never happened!!

OMG Emily, I was reading through catching up and I almost had a pee in my pants moment when you said you wake up with the 2 cats staring at you and amazingly enough the yeti is in right there in the middle of them staring too.

He was staring quite a bit at the party last night...mostly at the family cat. Later I realized he was probably trying to see out of the visor and cage, as it was so tight and fogged up. Kept tripping, heading into walls...I thought he was inebriated, but no--he just could not see.

Janet and Carla, that's so neat you guys met up. I'll have to go back and check out the avatar, and Patti's too!

BIG-time jealousy, here!! Gret pic of you two!

Maybe my sister looks like your sisters - 'cause I don't think she looks that much like me. However, the pic of your oldest daughter looks a LOT like my niece.

ALL the decoration are GONE! AWAY!! Feels like Christmas never happened!!

Undecorating starts tomorrow. The problems is where to put all the crap presents that the kids got.

My quiet New Years was nice. I had a few Cosmo's which were good. I woke up at 7 this morning and came out on the couch...My big cat was there and he made room for me...a true gentlecat and then I woke up late....few minutes ago and the cat is still here and keeps nudging me as I type.

We have a New Years dinner at MIL's to go too, don't really want to go either...

Happy New Years Sillies!!!!!

Lucky is waving his paw at all of you!!

If black seed oil is working for his Afib, stick to it, but if not, I can say that ablation therapy is no big deal--my mother was out of the procedure in about 1 hour and went home that evening, and had zero negative effects from the treatment. PS - I would recommend that your husband get an Apple watch to monitor his Afib--there is an app and it will take readings 24/7 and give reports on how much of the time he's in it. Actual data like this should be what should guide his treatment.

This happened to me as well. What’s weirder is that within a couple hours of taking paxlovid it subsided. I thought maybe I got glutened but after reading your post not so sure.

Hi Tiffany. Thank you for writing your dituation and  circumstancesin such detail and so well writte, too. I particularly noticed what you wrote about brain for and feeling like your brain is swelling and I know from my own experiences that's how it feel and your brain really does swell and you get migraines.    Way back when I was in my 20s I read a book by 2 MD allergist and they described their patient who came in complaining that her brain, inside her cranium, was swelling  and it happened when she smelled a certain chemical she used in her home. She kept coming back and insisting her brain actually swelled in her head. The Drs couldn't explain this problem so they, with her permission, performed an operation where they made a small opening through her cranium, exposed her to the chemical then watched as she brain did swell into the opening. The DRs were amazed but then were able to advise her to avoid chemicals that made her brain swell. I remember that because I occasionally had brain fog then but it was not a serious problem. I also realized that I was becoming more sensitive to chemicals I used in my work in medical laboratories. By my mid forties the brain fog and chemicals forced me to leave my  profession and move to a rural area with little pollution. I did not have migraines. I was told a little later that I had a more porous blood brain barrier than other people. Chemicals in the air would go up into my sinused and leak through the blood brain barrier into my brain. We have 2 arteries  in our neck that carry blood with the nutrients and oxygen into the brain. To remove the fluids and used blood from the brain there are only capillaries and no large veins to carry it away so all those fluids ooze out much more slowly than they came in and since the small capillaries can't take care of extra fluid it results in swelling in the face, especially around the eyes. My blood flow into my brain is different from most other people as I have an arterial ischema, adefectiveartery on one side.   I have to go forward about 20 or more years when I learned that I had glaucoma, an eye problem that causes blindness and more years until I learned I had celiac disease.  The eye Dr described my glaucoma as a very slow loss of vision that I wouldn't  notice until had noticeable loss of sight.  I could have my eye pressure checked regularly or it would be best to have the cataracts removed from both eyes. I kept putting off the surgery then just overnight lost most of the vision in my left eye. I thought at the I had been exposed to some chemical and found out a little later the person who livedbehind me was using some chemicals to build kayaks in a shed behind my house. I did not realize the signifance  of this until I started having appointments with a Dr. in a new building. New buildings give me brain fog, loss of balance and other problems I know about this time I experienced visual disturbances very similar to those experienced by people with migraines. I looked further online and read that people with glaucoma can suffer rapid loss of sight if they have silent migraines (no headache). The remedy for migraines is to identify and avoid the triggers. I already know most of my triggers - aromatic chemicals, some cleaning materials, gasoline and exhaust and mold toxins. I am very careful about using cleaning agents using mostly borax and baking powder. Anything that has any fragrance or smell I avoid. There is one brand of dishwashing detergent that I can use and several brands of  scouring powder. I hope you find some of this helpful and useful. I have not seen any evidence that Celiac Disease is involved with migraines or glaucoma. Please come back if you have questions or if what I wrote doesn't make senseto you. We sometimes haveto learn by experience and finding out why we have some problems. Take care.       The report did not mention migraines.

Hi Jmartes71 That is so much like my story! You probably know where Laytonville is and that's where I was living just before my 60th birthday when the new Dr. suggested I could have Celiacs. I didn't go on a gluten challange diet before having the Celiac panel blood test drawn. The results came back as equivical as one antibody level was very high but another, tissue transaminasewas normal. Itdid show I was  allergic to cows milk and I think hot peppers. I immediately went gluten free but did not go in for an endoscopy. I found an online lab online that would do the test to show if I had a main celiac gene (enterolab.com). The report came back that I had inherited a main celiac gene, DQ8, from one parent and a D!6 from the other parent. That combination is knows to sym[tons of celiac worse than just inheriting one main celiac gene. With my version of celiac disease I was mostly constipated but after going gluten-free I would have diarrhea the few times I was glutened either by cross contamination or eating some food containing gluten. I have stayed gluten-free for almost 20 years now and knew within a few days that it was right for me although my recovery has been slow.   When I go to see a  medical provide and tell them I have celiacs they don't believe me. The same when I tell them that I carry a main celiac gene, the DQ8. It is only when I tell them that I get diarrhea after eating gluten that they realize that I might have celiac disease. Then they will order th Vitamin B12 and D3 that I need to monitor as my B12 levels can go down very fast if I'm not taking enough of it. Medical providers haven't been much help in my recovery. They are not well trained in this problem. I really hope this helps ypu. Take care.
