I've always wanted to be the type who would breezily throw a few clothes in a bag, sashay out the door and look oh-so-perfect no matter what came up. 'Cept, I'm not.

 I hate those people.... My aunt is that way. Of course, she's been traveling the world, in her glamorous life, since her teens. You should SEE how she looks on a trip.....always the MOST perfect one there. Down to the precisely-selected jewels. HARRUMPH..............

<you can see I"m procrastinating......dear gawd.... >

Hey, I forgot to tell you guys--I polished my toenails for the first time this year! It's getting ever closer to sandal weather B)

Tom, I loooooove how you're always going out to see live music. There's nowhere around here that HAS live music.

Well, I take that back... there actually are a couple coffee shops in Mt. Airy that have live music sometimes. I need to get out more, sigh. ;)

tom Contributor

OMG  there really IS a Mt. Airy???? :o

Somehow that name came to mind today (or was that yesterday) as it gets mentioned on the Andy Griffith Show.

I thought all the names are changed . .. .like Mt. Pilot is somethingorother similar.

Oops!! Band back!! And I'm in the FRONT row

Yeah, there really is a Mt. Airy! Or, as I like to call it, Mt.-Airy-Home-of-Andy-Griffith-Ain't-We-Somebody.

Well, that's one version of what I call it. ;) Some of us who live just outside of Mt. Airy are of the opinion that Mt. Airians have a little bit of a 'tude. Also, they are all crazy drivers, and everything is just a tad bit more expensive there. My MIL and I like to go shopping in the historical district, though.

I never watched the show much. Do they call it Pilot Mountain in the show? That is where I live. (Used to be referred to as Mt. Pilot, back in the day.)

YAY, you put up a live shot of the band in your av. I get to live vicariously through you!

All hail Queen Jess !!!!!!!!! With all due respect Jess, i think your first edict may be to invade and claim the French Chalet as our castle!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tom would look quite smart in a soldier's uniform and the rest of us could probably kick some arse too!! Susie's got that Iroquois vSkull crusher!

BTW I think it was Gnikkeigh who doesn't know how babies are made.:lol: You know, the shooting absinthian ova, adn all. ;)

Right....even in Catholic school we got to see the shooting ova but they took out the absinthe :P

I can explain to Nikki how babies are made

My daughter has lost another tooth today. The second one this week. Right after we got home, she asks my husband "you want to know why my mouth feels weird" and my son immediately responded with "because it's tired from you blabbering all the time" . . . he's feeling better.

Janet- Your son MUST be related to my husband...that is something he would say to me along with 'How about a nice, tall glass of shut the hell up?" Cracks me up every time!!!

Glad he's feeling better!

Well, they'd gotten the fire pretty much put out on our side, but now it's cresting the top and trying to come back over again. <_< We've got a 20% chance of rain tomorrow though, that would help.

Maybe I'll go do a raindance out on the back deck!!! That would be fun.

Glad the phire is calming down. Absinthian nekkid fire fighter rain dance on your porch, you say? Tonight at 7? Getting in my car now   It'll be Jess's coronation ball!!!!!

BARI LUIS, Sillies of the New Kingdom!!

CONGRATS, QUEEN JESS I!!

We all may now just have to sprinkle the odd Armenian phrase into our discourse, as I have just managed to do, to honoUr our reigning monarch. I feel that Queen Jess needs to proclaim this as edict #164B: There Must be an Accompanying Little Quirk in our Use of Language, Idiom, Expressions, to Recognise the Current Royal Rep.

So, henceforth, for these 100 pages: Armenian, and mathS.....gaaaaahhhhhhhhh......:blink:

Oops!! Band back!! And I'm in the FRONT row

Tom!! I cannot help but ask about this, and widely expose my ignorance.....are you referring to a man named Bob Eucker, who often makes facial expressions communicating great joy, or perhaps delight....? Or is his name Bo Beucker? Or are you referring to a euchre face, like a poker face--very neutral, divulging nothing of what is being felt?:huh::lol:

Susie!! You fly out today!! Your name's on that bouquet, by the way...and I suspect that Kissey will snatch that garter out of the air in his teeth....

Lots of dads in the Sillyville air....thinking about your dad, Amanda.

Patti! How old is your dad? Is he nutty like mine? Does he become other people? <_<

Mine have polish during sandal months but during the winter my toes have socks and shoes on all the time....but April is almost here and I say by May I will be breaking out those sandals. This weekend I am putting away the majority of the winter stuff! No more skiing....today was the last day for that....

hhhmmm, 10-15 silies storming the entire french army? It'll require some planning.

We could get them all drunk on absinthe and then take over.

Or we could go to Mt Airy, drink the absinthe ourselves and talk each other into believing we're in a french chalet.

Nekkid firefighters??? I'm there!!!

In the lobby of the building where I work they had a continuing education class for all the Seattle paramedics on the first Tuesday of every month. It was fondly known as 'fireman Tuesday' and all the women (and some of the men) found lots of excuses to walk through the lobby on those days.

Janet- Your son MUST be related to my husband...that is something he would say to me along with 'How about a nice, tall glass of shut the hell up?" Cracks me up every time!!!

Hey, I know some of you guys don't like to leave this thread (Emily), but there's a gluten-free diabetic with a question at

Yesssss.......they do make the best absinthe, mehears....

But ya know, absinthe gives a clearness of mind, a feeling of contentment and good humour (unless you're Ptaum's roomie), rather than the drunken confusion, lack of judgment and incapacitation of other alcohol. We may not have a challenging battle on our hands. The gendarmes may just find our attack quaintly amusing, worth pondering and discussing , and could simply step aside, allowing us entry into said chalet....they may need to search out a set of scales to do a head weigh-in....:lol:

...people poo on remotes????? ....how uncouth

Auuuuugggggghhhh!!!!

Janet, you just sent me over there because there is a plethora of MATHS, didn't ya????

I get on the thread, all ready to impart my most serious, well-founded advice, and THIS is what I find:

If it were me, I'd add up the carbs and divide the total by the ratio of a single serving. In other words, if the total carbs in the recipe is 200 grams, and a serving is 1/12 of the cake, then 200/12 is your answer. You could use the same basic idea with the weight too I suppose. So if the cake weighs 1lb, and a serving is 2oz, then the answer is 200/8.

Gaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!! Get me outta there.......!!!!!!

Grumble grumble......must search for thread on insubordinate clause use....tell Janet she's needed on this new posting about mathematical glutening ratios.......

:P:lol::lol:

Actually, riceguy really knows his stuff. T'weren't nuttin' fer me to add....

oh yeah!! And a slightly deranged yeti (where is he by the way?)

We could initially distract them by asking them to compute the carb content of a coconut laden swallow.

Or calculate the average weight of a silly's head and refuse to have dealings with any gendarme who possess a lesser cabbage.

:lol: These are all terrific offensive ideas, Your Highness. Wow...we got a bonus, here--a queen who knows how to attack an opposing army!

So, we'll need our yeti, a bathroom scale, and a carb-counter. Ha!! They'll be SO unprepared, with their bayonets and semi-automatics....

Thank you for the information ill will definitely bring it into practice .

While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.

This is a challenging and confusing situation. The combination of a positive EMA—which is a highly specific marker rarely yielding false positives—alongside strongly elevated TTG on two separate occasions, years apart, is profoundly suggestive of celiac disease, even in the absence of biopsy damage. This pattern strongly aligns with what is known as "potential celiac disease," where the immune system is clearly activated, but intestinal damage has not yet become visible under the microscope. Your concern about the long-term risk of continued gluten consumption is valid, especially given your family's experience with the consequences of delayed diagnosis. Since your daughter is now at an age where her buy-in is essential for a gluten-free lifestyle, obtaining a definitive answer is crucial for her long-term adherence and health. Given that she is asymptomatic yet serologically positive, a third biopsy now, after a proper 12-week challenge, offers the best chance to capture any microscopic damage that may have developed, providing the concrete evidence needed to justify the dietary change. This isn't about wanting her to have celiac; it's about wanting to prevent the insidious damage that can occur while waiting for symptoms to appear, and ultimately giving her the unambiguous "why" she needs to accept and commit to the necessary treatment. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.
    • Scott Adams
Welcome to the community! Generally, for a gluten challenge before celiac disease blood tests, Tylenol (acetaminophen) is considered safe and should not interfere with your antibody results. The medications you typically need to avoid are those like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve) that can cause intestinal irritation, which could potentially complicate the interpretation of an endoscopy if you were to have one. However, it is absolutely crucial that you confirm this with either your gastroenterologist or your surgeon before your procedure. They know the specifics of your case and can give you the definitive green light, ensuring your surgery is comfortable and your celiac testing remains accurate. Best of luck with your surgery tomorrow
    • Xravith
Thank you for the advice. I’ve actually never checked for nutritional deficiencies, but for as long as I can remember, I’ve always taken vitamin and mineral supplements — otherwise my symptoms get worse. This week I stopped eating gluten to confirm whether my symptoms are really caused by it. Starting next week, I’ll reintroduce gluten — it’s sad to go back to how I was before — but at least I’ll be able to take the necessary tests properly. I think the diagnostic process will be long, but at least I’m happy that I finally decided to address this doubt I’ve had for years.
