Morning Sillies--

I am so miserble.....I think I have pink eye :(:(

My eye was itchy as I got out of the shower last evening and I took Benedryl when it wouldnt get better....this morning it was sealed shut and all mucusy and gross....I feel gross!!!

I am heading to work and making a Dr's appt. Gathering somethings so I can work from home if need be....I cannot see having to stay home if I am not sick!

Morming Psillies!

Not starting off the day well.

Recently it has felt like I have a zit developing on my eyebrow, and woke up this morning to find that my entire eyelid is swollen!..........NOT A GOOD LOOK HERE, PEOPLE!

I have a half day today because I have a dentist appointment.......the fun just never stops!

Sudden drop in temperature today........pulled out my sweaters. Fall has finally arrived. I don't mind it much, but it reminds me that winter is not far behind......UGH!

The class is reading 'Holes', so I am bringing in my 3 1/2 million year old fish fossil......a great example of a 'text-to-self' connection. B)

Did you give me pink eye????? We cyber-shared!!!! LOL!!!!

I am on my way down to employee health--love this hospital-workplace for some things.... and if they think it is pink eye my butt will need to see a dr. This sucks!!!

OMG. . . ........Twilight Zone music. . . . . ......Two Psillies with icky, swollen-up eyes at exactly the same time, many miles apart??. . . . . .

What does this mean?????

........ Vital information to consider: Are they both your left eyes?. . . . .....This means something. . .. I am certain . . . .....

Janet's back!! Thank gawd. .. . let's get back to a well-organized, humming community. . .. .Janet is cut out fer this Queen posting, but it's too much of a struggle for me. The crown wrecks my hair, the sceptre gets caught under my arm when I try to perform a stately walk, and that throne! Oy. .. . .....like sittin' on a pile o' rocks. . . .....a cairn, if you will .. . ......

. . . and where the hell did you get that guy blowing a trumpet and "announcing" you everywhere you go? We don't have a budget for that!!

:lol::lol:

I know, I know. . . ...Couldn't resist. He's a greeter at Walmart, looking for extra work. He has a cereminial gown and a bugle that was collecting dust in his closet, so it seemed the obvious plan. Now I cannot get him to stop. Went to the arena for DD's parent hockey meeting last night and there he suddenly was, throwing out the long red carpet in front of me, wailing away on the horn . . . . ...it was REALLY bad at the public library yesterday -- you can imagine how that entrance would be received there.

Guess he'll be announcing me at work today. .. . . .... :unsure::lol:

OH!! . . . and I looooovvvvvveeeeed Chicago!! One of the few DVD's I own. Did not care for MooLon Rooj.

I liked both. . .. ....LOVE Chicago's score. I'd much rather listen to the compact disc than watch the musical, methinks. . . . . .

I've decided this board is a subspace conduit of thought from one silly to another. I started working out the other day again, I've been limping ever since. My boyfriend had an eye issue three days ago. We had burgers the same night everybody else did.

However..... I LOVE musicals. I have to confess though, the reason I liked Moulin Rouge so much is cuz I think Ewan Mcgregor is super sexy, and I had no idea he could sing like that.

Hello Sillies- It's officially Halloween season <insertBev'scackleandablackbat>!!!!!!!!!!

Here's some Uncle Ray for ya:

California vintners in the Napa Valley area, which primarily produce Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio wines, have developed a new hybrid grape that acts as an anti-diuretic.

It is expected to reduce the number of trips older people have to make to the bathroom during the night.

The new wine will be marketed as....

PINO MORE

I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE ;)

and......

The Harley-Davidson Facts !!!

The inventor of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Arthur Davidson , died and went to heaven.

At the gates, St. Peter told Arthur. 'Since you've been such a good man and your motorcycles have changed the world, your reward is, you can hang out with anyone you want to in heaven.'

Arthur thought about it for a minute and then said, ' I want to hang out with God.'

St. Peter took Arthur to the Throne Room, and introduced him to God.

God recognized Arthur and commented, 'Okay, so you were the one who invented the Harley-Davidson motorcycle? '

Arthur said, 'Yeah, that's me...'

God commented: 'Well, what's the big deal in inventing something that's pretty unstable, makes noise and pollution and can't run without a road?'

Arthur was a bit embarrassed, but finally spoke, 'Excuse me, but aren't you the inventor of woman?'

God said, 'Ah, yes.'

'Well,' said Arthur, 'professional to professional, you have some major design flaws in your invention !

1. There's too much inconsistency in the front-end suspension

2. It chatters constantly at high speeds

3. Most rear ends are too soft and wobble about too much

4. The intake is placed way too close to the exhaust

5. The maintenance costs are outrageous!!!!

'Hmmmmm, you may have some good points there,' replied God, 'hold on.'

God went to his Celestial supercomputer, typed in a few words and waited for the results.

The computer printed out a slip of paper and God read it.

'Well, it may be true that my invention is flawed,' God said to Arthur, 'but according to these numbers, more men are riding my invention than yours'.

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!
    • knitty kitty
Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?
    • Scott Adams
I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
