'dokey. spent the day moving furniture around. (tired). Got some stuff from a friend who is downsizing and have been trying to figure out where to put it. When my sunroom gets done it'll be a temporary workout room (until the roommate leaves and I can re-arrange) but for now I have 2 exercise bikes, one treadmill and a stair stepper thing (not mine) in my tv room. I have a coffee table under my dining room table (his is in the tv room) and a carousel horse by the window

note to self: next time rent to someone with no personal belongings...

Amanda!!:wub: Sounds like good news all around....so wonderful. It sounds as if many of us have gone through a parent having heart trouble - - always so stressful. Me dad looked so....small and powerless, somehow, his face heavy with pain, his body cramped over in that hospital robe, lotsa tubes . .. ....but time quickly heals things; it's amazing......

And your dad will be getting' it all back quickly, you just wait! :)

You must be exhausted. Sit back and relax and watch Emily'sthe boob tube.

SOOOO confused on the whole kidney infection thing, only had one once in me life. Been reading up on it, and what they describe (burning wee and frequency of wee) sounds like a bladder infection, and does not remotely describe what I am feeling.

so I dunno what's up......

this movie topic just nailed the stake in the coffin of an increasingly difficult, 30-year friendship (my college roommate in San Jose) and now.....it is officially over (for a great long while, at least). :( Very strange, no contact at all between us......

I'll pm you with my questions about the movie ;)

Gee, Em, how about that ten dollar note you got in change today from the cashier at the grocery store? It likely came from another customer. Do you know where that bill has been? :o

It is a fact that almost all US $100 bills test positive for cocaine. They are rolled into a tube, stuck into the nostril, and used to snort coke. I'm sure Benjamin had no idea what he was getting into when his portrait was put on the C-note. I have a Benjamin here in my safe--I wonder where he has been.

Amanda, good news about your father. Get some rest.

Suz--Hope yer in bed by now, but on the sauages--I get them at a regular (large) grocery store in the meat section. All flavors are gluten-free--and marked as such--except for the Hawaiian Pineapple. V. healthy--low fat but so darn good.

Just watched "Knocked Up" on HBO. Cute movie----it had the PINKEYE scene that Em (?) posted the link to the other day :lol:

I'm watching and I said to Mark--I just saw that scene on the Sillie thread! :P

Thanks Everyone :)

Jackie welcome and congrats on the crowning!!! I am afew days late.

I am lost- haven't worked in a week. I was @ work on Tuesday but my mind was all confuzzled.....Many trips between Harrisburg and Scranton this week---I-81 is a long road and the drive was tiring. Emotional at times as well....

Another thing that this week has caused....I have been sick since last Sunday- So ill I have felt as bad as my pre-celiac days.....I think the stress has taken its toll. Then whilest at moms I twisted my ankle playing with Silvia who asks me "loves me" it was so cute. Tonight my ankle the bad leg is swollen and has this purple line running amongst the veins long ways on my foot.....might be Dr time tomorrow...ugh!

Jen is home again as well, but has gotten a babysitter for Landen this weekend to give me some space which was nice. We are going to get together hopefully on Monday- this is the longest we have been apart in over a year...I miss my coworkers too, they emailed and my two close ones called everyday and that was a help too. I needed to talk to people in my "normal life" it was the cheering up distraction I needed. Going back to work Monday is something I cannot wait to do....finally I know my life will be moving forward.

so now I am settling in to watch some movies for the evening, I have my foot up on the pillow and I am doing a jigsaw puzzle.

Night sillies!!!

and thanks again for being such good friends, I love you guys and I couldnt do it without you all!!!! ((((HUGS))))

I'd go with a vodka tonic, but that's just me😉

That and my nutritionist also said that drinking cider is one of the worst drink choices for me, given that I have candida overgrowth.  She said the combination of the alcohol and sugar would be very likely to worsen my candida problem.  She suggested that if I drink, I go for clear vodka, either neat or with a splash of cranberry.   So in summary, I am giving ciders a rest.  Whether it's a gluten risk or sugars and yeast overgrowth, its just not worth it.

While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.

This is a challenging and confusing situation. The combination of a positive EMA—which is a highly specific marker rarely yielding false positives—alongside strongly elevated TTG on two separate occasions, years apart, is profoundly suggestive of celiac disease, even in the absence of biopsy damage. This pattern strongly aligns with what is known as "potential celiac disease," where the immune system is clearly activated, but intestinal damage has not yet become visible under the microscope. Your concern about the long-term risk of continued gluten consumption is valid, especially given your family's experience with the consequences of delayed diagnosis. Since your daughter is now at an age where her buy-in is essential for a gluten-free lifestyle, obtaining a definitive answer is crucial for her long-term adherence and health. Given that she is asymptomatic yet serologically positive, a third biopsy now, after a proper 12-week challenge, offers the best chance to capture any microscopic damage that may have developed, providing the concrete evidence needed to justify the dietary change. This isn't about wanting her to have celiac; it's about wanting to prevent the insidious damage that can occur while waiting for symptoms to appear, and ultimately giving her the unambiguous "why" she needs to accept and commit to the necessary treatment. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.
