Had to check in again....just can't stay away! So.....I missed something somewhere along the line. Please explain Weenis colony....is that where I am? I thought it was bad that sometimes I'm not sure what day/time it is...now I don't even know where I am!

Welcome Tuh-reigh-suh!!!!

This place is quite addicting.........when school started at the end of summer and I had to go back to work, I had to go through a 10 11 step program to ease the withdrawal symptoms! :P

You are in Psillyville......Weenis colony is a very new development.....don't remember who originally used the word weenis (was it Soozie?), but once a fun word is introduced, it takes on a life of it's own.

Edit: Oops, now I see Em's post.....I was right!

I think weenis colony just started................ yesterday?

HA!!!.....yes, those Canucks are a hardy lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slinking BACK to me couch wiv Tiger Pig, tissues and Lemsip ...UGH!!!!!!!!!

TIGER PIG!!!!!!!!!!! that did give me a snort...........but what is Lemsip?

Gah!! Needed to hear those words again.....fantastic. FUCUS VESICULOSUS BLADDERWACK....will be my next "thing" I use when it's my turn in hangman.

OMG  Just love that Leesah reminded us of this PHABULOUS term

AaaaHAAAA!!!! and I believe that Julie was the first to guess DENTURES!!!!!

 It WOZ Chow's teef in the ho' tub!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look again, Em, they're there.......oh they're in there all right........

Thanks to all of you for the laughs these last few days. I really needed them. I love the little community that you've built up....will there be a community pool and park in the works? I expect to be peeking in now and again. I promise to make myself known from now on, so you won't feel like someone is reading over your shoulder. As Andy Rooney would say....."don't you just hate that?"

FLOUR GIRL!!!!!!!!!!! Yay, a new Psilly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

saw you lurking the other day, SO VERY HAPPY you have joined us!!!!!!!!!!! :)

we ARE completely mad - but so harmless and nice :)

Woops, double posted somehow! I'll count that as the one dumb thing I'm going to do today.

just the one? oh - if I ONLY did one dumb thing a day......what a better place the world would be......

Sillyville=a weenal colony

GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Patti!!!!!!!

'Tis what we refer to 'round here as The Vortex. . . . ....it surrounds and engulfs all of us regularly. Just plan to be late for things, not get half the items checked off on your daily "to do" list. . . . ...perhaps get fired.......

The tradeoff is splendid..... . ....

this cracked me up

I would have to agree on the straightening products, or what I have seen categorized here as "smoothing" products. To this day I am stilll searching for the perfect product for me own hair (and I suspect I will forever be looking for it ) so I don't have any specific brand I can recommend Sooze.....I am currently testing out a smoothing serum by Biolage, but all the brands seem to have a smoothing line.

And Nikki is right, these serums and such you must use sparingly and with caution. They are oils so you could have a greasy mess on yer hands if you over use.

Julie! emotional and luvvy  I know - this time of year is full of expectation and joy - my gosh, it just wasn't that way for me for decades - - SO happy to not hate the whole month of december any more!!!!!!

the hair products

oh yeah - I've used tons of syrums - - keep thinking I"ll find the Holy Grail that will make my hair perfect - never happens -

HARRUMPH

Heaven help us if Em designs us a Weenal Colony Crest!!!

pseriously

oh Patti! a crappy cold - poopy cow!!!!!!! get your blankie and your kitty and feel better!!!!!

Amanda, I guffaw out loud whenever I see your splendid av. . .. .. .. one of the best. ..

:lol::lol:

Okay, this evening I went to the December meeting of the (Ottawa chapter) Celiac Association. As I was making my way into the hall, I noticed a young woman in front of me lumbering along on CRUTCHES (I will never look at them the same way again).

Well, I realized something. First of all, her rubber ends were grEY.

More importantly, however - - the crutches were aluminum. Mygawd.....that is how behind the times I am, how very out of the loop. Are there no longer wooden crutches anymore? Likely not. I guess that's how long it's been since I've interacted with such things......I have never broken or twisted a leg/ankle; neither have either of my kids. I believe Will briefly hobbled around on crutches twenty` years ago.

So, with the disappearance of wood, so went the brick-coloUred tips. NO other coloUr could have worked with the wood, and brick red would look ridiculous, somehow, with the metallic finish of today's models.

So there. THAT'S why there are so phew brick-coloured rubber crutch-tips nowadays. That bit of out history is gone with the wood, Ptaoughmghmn!!

Weenal is a posited adjective form of Weenis, Soooozie's sudden, hilarious term for "penis" (if you have any interest in learning the ASL signage for this word, we have this available in our exhaustive thread, as well - - go back about 300 pages).

Since we, as an exclusive group here in The Pville, have been known to digress fairly regularly into such subject matter, Patti brilliantly referred to us a Weenal Colony.

Who is our Commanding Officer? General? Colonel? I should think it'd best be Ptaoughmghmn or POeter, since they actually own weenii. . . . ...

Well, I don't know about this. Somebody here seems to be obsessed with a certain body part.

I live in the upper mid-west and was just diagnosed with marsh 3c celiac less than a month ago.  As a 51 year old male, I now take a couple of different gluten free vitamins.  I have not noticed any reaction to either of these items.  Both were purchased from Amazon. 1.  Nature Made Multivitamin For Him with No Iron 2.  Gade Nutrition Organic Quercetin with Bromelain Vitamin C and Zinc Between those two, I am ingesting 2000 IU of vitamin D per day. Best of luck, Known1

I am doing a gluten challenge right now and I bought vital wheat gluten so I can know exactly how much gluten I am getting. One tablespoon is 7g so 1½ tablespoons of Vital Wheat Gluten per day will get you to 10g You could add it to bean burgers as a binder or add to hot chocolate or apple sauce and stir.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.
