Not phunny. Tired and run down. Maybe I'm not eating enough, I don't know. Maybe it's cuz I work phull time, have 2 kids on summer break who fight non-stop and I have 9 cakes to do in the next month.... I am thankful for everything, for sure, I just need to learn a bit more balance :rolleyes:

I had a phlat once in Georgia in a pick-up truck. I was turning into a grocery store parking lot and suddenly heard a loud hissing sound that turned out to be the tire that had just picked up a freakin spike relieveing itself of it's air. :lol:<_<

I had an 'experience' whilst driving a rental car with Clay in the front and my mom, dad and brother in the rear. Heard this throbbing sound like a helicopter hovering over the top of the car, realized it was a tire problem (on the freeway in So.Cal) and kept calm, while Clay (never a good head in an emergency) was phlippin' phlipping out :o He kept telling me to stop and I just said "I am not going to brake, I have my foot off the gas, I am in the slow lane and signalling and will pull onto the shoulder when I am going slow enough." And that's what I did. The tire was shredded :rolleyes: , apparently had just blown, but all were safe. My brother's fave photo album picture taken from the rear of the car is of a chipper standing behind the car, with Clay unloading luggage and supplies for a three-week trip onto the shoulder of the road, looking for all the world like a drug bust :lol:

Nah...that wasn't it. None of my phlat tire stories are witty or insightful (just boring). Maybe that's why the computer wouldn't let me type?

. Our progress north was blocked by a phlooded out pherry at Phort McPherson, and so, late in the evening we were returning south.

Just back from the orthopedic doctor. My humerus is broke clean through! :o That could have a pserious effect on me phunny :P

He also found a break at me elbow. So....don't touch me elbow, tickle or otherwise :rolleyes:

So phunny....when I met Em and Will, Em gives me a big ol' hug (don't know how she avoided the owies, but she did). Will's was more like an air hug....like he was afraid he'd break me. Leesargh was amused :P

And...I know I've had flat tires when on me own before, know how to change them, but never had to.

♫♪ I enjoy being a girl! Ow....can't do any more musical notes....requires 2 hands :(

Good gravy, Leesiugh--nuttin sillie about yer injury but I had to chuckle at yer fraze-ology :D Leave it to a sillie to have a clean humerUs break and a snapped elbow--tickle status off limits :o

How long will you be in the cast? Gosh, you poor thing! (light hug) :wub:

It's not in cast....the break is too high up, plus the nasty road rash :pukeyface: I have a strap around my upper arm and around my wrist, which are both attached to a maybe 6 inch elastic band around my waist.

8 week recovery. 3 to 4 months complete recovery

DD broke her humerus right after DS was born (it was like having twins for 3 months!!), split the bone horizontally and then the upper portion shifted to the right :o Orthopedic surgeon said it would probably have to be pinned and she'd never have full extension of her arm again..... She was casted 3 different times from shoulder to fingertips and then I went full on with physical therapy at home with her. Not only did the bone heal perfectly in alignment, she now has extreme hyper-extension which is terrifying to watch her doing back handsprings :unsure:

--it was before she was diagnosed. Wonder if she fell just right, or if the celiac had anything to do with it....

Hub may be going in a small private plane this weekend to prepare for a Scout campout. Not sure I like the idea. Another small private plane just crashed near here today. :(. Do I "forbid" him?

Agreed. My husband frequently wants me to allow him to take our 2 kids up in a tiny little plane "for fun".... I tell him-Over My Dead Body!

Okay, I'm taking the other side here. I have been a passenger in a small private plane on a number of occasions. The pilot wants to land safely. If something goes wrong, there are fewer backup systems. Often, there is only one engine. There is usually only one qualified pilot aboard. But, IMHO, you take a greater risk when you drive your car onto the freeway with all the maniacs running loose. At least, in a small aircraft, the chances that somebody else causes you to crash are about zero.

It would be interesting to hear from Lisa B. on this topic--her husband is a retired commercial pilot, who, I believe, still flies privately. I'll send her a PM.

I'm leaning toward not making a fuss as the pilot is a perfectionist who will not go unless he has checked every little bit. Both my parents (yes, surprisingly even my mom) used to fly before they needed the money for more important things like me, sis & bro. Would be interested to hear Lisa B's thoughts. Thanks, Peter.

My mother was born in Appleton, MN in 1925. Her father grew up on the family farm near Mora, MN. The family moved to Washington, DC, in 1927, and then to Berkeley, CA, in 1930.

It's bent at a 90 degree angle and is not going anywhere because the upper arm strap is attached to my side and the lower arm strap is attached in front across my stomach.

Do you really think he would listen? Last year when hubby decided to ride his motorcycle to Houston, I told him several times that it didn't feel right......I was scared of him doing it. And of course, he did it anyway. Y'all know the rest.

When people type K instead of OK, I think they are talking to me cause my hub & sis call me K.

I remember seeing an English TV show about re-decorating gardens and they had chairs & a plastic pool in the back garden. Didn't make it into the final design but I thought everyone in the London area had that type of pool. :). We still have one for emergencies (can ice down a lot of beer in one).

Becareful with the Russian and her wodka. :)

All Pilots have to have recurrent check rides annually, as well as the plane must have an annual inspection. Professional Pilots, twice a year.

Karen, ask how many hours the pilot has in that particular plane, as well as other planes. Check the weather. If the temperature is in the 90's and the plane is heavy with overweight people. Sit it out. An over weighted (illegal) plane can effect it's performance greatly.

It sound like you're familiar with the Pilot. That's a good assessment there! Doctors and Lawyers have the highest mortality rate in airplanes, due to the fact that they have the ability to buy more plane than their ability. All airplanes bite fools.

If you have weighed some of these factors and feel comfortable, tell him to enjoy his trip. :D And remember, the Pilot's ass is in that airplane too! B)

      @Scott Adams That's actually exactly what I ended up asking for— vodka tonic with Titos. I saw on their website that Tito's is certified gluten-free (maybe many of the clear vodkas are, I don't know, I just happened to look up Tito's in advance). I should have actually specified the 'splash' though, because I think with the amount of tonic she put in there, ...

      Be interesting to see the effects of dairy reintroduction with gluten. As well as milk protein sensitivity in and of itself the casein part particularly has been shown to mimic gluten in about 50% of celiacs. Keep us posted!

      Lol that’s so true! Hope you get clarity, it’s tough when there’s doubt. There’s so much known about celiac disease with all the scientific research that’s been done so far yet practically and clinically there’s also so much unknown, still.       She has been dairy free for six years, so she’d already been dairy free for two years at her last testing and was dairy free for the entire gluten challenge this year as well (that had positive results). However, now that we’re doing another biopsy in six weeks, we decided to do everything we can to try to “see” the effects, so we decided this past week to add back in dairy temporarily for breakfast (milk and cereal combo like you said).

Wise idea as it seems my grandson has the beginning symptoms (several celiacs in his dad's family), but parents continue to think he's just being difficult.  Argh.  There's a test I took that diagnosed gluten sensitivity in 2014 via Entero Labs, and am planning on having done again.  Truth be told, I'm hoping it's the bromine/additives/preservatives as I miss breads and pastas terribly when home here in the states!  Be well and here's to our guts healing ❤️

      Lol that’s so true! Hope you get clarity, it’s tough when there’s doubt. There’s so much known about celiac disease with all the scientific research that’s been done so far yet practically and clinically there’s also so much unknown, still. Out of curiosity what’s her dairy consumption like? Even compared to early years to now? Has that changed? Calcium is dependent in the mechanism of antigen presenting cells in the gut. High calcium foods with gluten grains can initiate inflammation greater.  This is why breakfast cereals and milk combo long term can be a ticking time bomb for genetically susceptible celiacs (not a scientific statement by any means but my current personal opinion based on reasoning at present). Milk and wheat are the top culprits for food sensitivity. Especially in childhood. There are also patient cases of antibodies normalising in celiac children who had milk protein intolerance/ delayed type allergy. Some asymptomatic. There were a couple of cases of suspected celiacs that turned out to have milk protein intolerance that normalised antibodies on a gluten containing diet. Then there were others that only normalised antibodies once gluten and milk was eliminated. Milk kept the antibodies positive. Celiac disease is complicated to say the least.
