Good pick-up of past posts but you missed pink sausages. Can't understand why you wouldn't want to touch on that topic. ;)

Sorry for your hold up Pads...but the word 'snafu' amuses moi wink.gif

Tis an acronym taken from US military slang, dating back at least to WWII. The US Army, while building the Alaska Highway through Yukon named a small lake along the route "Snafu Lake." A related term gave rise to "Tarfu Lake." The other related term did not stick to any geographic feature that I am aware of.

Here are the G-rated versions of the meanings.

SNAFU: Systems Normal--All Fouled Up.

TARFU: Things Are Really Fouled Up.

FUBAR: Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition.

Nikki wants to hold the sausage.

We put a sprinkling of grated Parmesan on top as the last thing.

Not Boo to be back to psillie-ville, but Boo to being back in the cold, rainy PNW :(

Looks like I missed a lot! Boils, shingles, smashed boobies, alcohol induced vomiting (tequilla), chicken induced vomitting:huh: moving, refinancing, expensive antiques, Ripper wisdom, and pizza jobs among a few! I guess I must stay in the job I am in currently- due to my pizza toppings, I'm sure I shall never be hired anywhere again...

What toppings do you like on your pizza Mrs. Harvey

Ummmm, extra sauce, extra, EXTRA veggies, no cheese, no meat

Must get hubby on board now... ;) Also had a blast wif me kiddo's! Granted, they did drive me up the wall 1/2 the time, but the older they get, the PHUNNIER they get!

Me: Did you seriously just ask me if I've fed my kids Spam?

Jesse: They take all the unwanted parts of the pig, like the eyelids, anus (yep...), toenails, tail, etc, etc, and on and on and on...

Maddie: But does it taste good.......?!

POeter, The Ripper is obsessed with this bit of personal trivia regarding your brother, the fact that he will not eat mushrooms. Jack postulates on this regularly, completely agreeing with R's reasoning that fungi reside on a different species ranking er sumfin', and therefore should not be consumed by humans........ . ...... . . too deep fer me...

I loved when my mom would fry slices of Spam in butter and get the edges all crispy! Taste a lot like bacon. Very salty. Not sure if it's gluten-free. And, as I already have plenty of delicious pork products like ham & bacon, don't need another.

Here is a pig parts story. My grandma would be about 112 if still alive. She used to teach in a 1 room school in the country in Iowa ( before those hay balers were invented ). In the winter, she stayed with families to be close to the school. Her favorite family made the best pork sausage for breakfast everyday. The trick to it being so tasty was they used the whole pig, not just the gross bits. She would tell me this & I would image them holding a whole pig up above the grinder and putting it in,nose first. maybe the Ripper could ponder that.

I came home with a sty in my eye. Sure it had nuphin to do wif the Spam, but maybe if I woulda tried it, the crazy pig gods wouldn't have caused me this much pain! My right eye is effed-up!

Sounds like somebody else who needs an eye patch and start talkin' like a pirate.

I had a grandma that used to cook us spam . . . twas a breakfast food at her house, used instead of bacon. I think it's probably one of those foods that isn't as good as I remember it . . . like Ding Dongs . . . that used to be my favourite Hostess treat as a kid. Had them as an adult and they were NOT good . . . tried them a couple of times in case the first 10 attempts were just bad batches

Dang......did it again and yeah I should admit I am 63 with clumsy phone thumbs. I started feeling better quickly and a doctor a year later said I had to eat  poison (gluten) every day for a month so he could formally diagnose me and NO FREAKING WAY. I couldn't then and can't imagine putting my body through that crap (no pun intended) on purpose ever again.  Why ingest poison for a month to have some doctor say Hey, All you Have To Do Is Never Eat poison Again..

15 years ago my best friend 'diagnosed' me as Celiac. Her little nephew had been formally diagnosed and her observations of me dealing with brain fog, stomach problems and other stuff had her convincing me to try going gluten free. Oh my heavens, within 3 days, no lie, I felt human again. Took me about a y

It seems like you have two choices--do a proper gluten challenge and get re-tested, or just go gluten-free because you already know that it is gluten that is causing your symptoms. In order to screen someone for celiac disease they need to be eating gluten daily, a lot of it--they usually recommend at least 2 slices of wheat bread daily for 6-8 weeks before a blood screening, and at least 2 weeks before an endoscopy (a colonoscopy is no used to diagnose celiac disease). Normally the blood panel is your first step, and if you have ANY positive results there for celiac disease the next step would be to take biopsies of your villi via an endoscopy given by a gastroenterologist.  More info on the blood tests and the gluten challenge beforehand is below: The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate. Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day:   Not to discourage you from a formal diagnosis, but once you are diagnosed it may lead to higher life and medical insurance rates (things will be changing quickly in the USA with the ACA starting in 2026), as well as the need to disclose it on job applications. While I do think it's best to know for sure--especially because all of your first degree relatives should also get screened for it--I also want to disclose some negative possibilities around a formal diagnosis that you may want to also consider.

Yes.  Now, if you hit your finger with a hammer once, wouldn't you do your best not to do it again?  You have identified a direct connection between gluten and pain.  Gluten is your hammer.  Now you have to decide if you need a medical diagnosis.  Some countries have aid benefits tgat you can get if you have the diagnosis, but you must continue eating a gluten-normal diet while pursuing the diagnosis. Otherwise the only reason to continue eating gluten is social. There are over 200 symptoms that could be a result of celiac disease.. Celiac Disease and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity  both cause multiple vitamin and mineral deficiency.  Dealing with that should help your recovery, even while eating gluten.  Phosphatidyl Choline supplements can help your gut if digesting fats is a problem,  Consider that any medications you take could be causing some of the symptoms, aside from gluten.
