MIL update. J is back and tells me that her mother is on some SERIOUS pain meds after the surgery which are affecting her judgement. She is as high as a kite and is experiencing an escape from reality (can I get some of the stuff?). Anywho, the catheter and IV are expected to be removed tomorrow, along with the restraints.

all this with dementia is really rough. Hope the restraints will help her relax. Sorry about this Peter. Best to J.

HI all.

We're having what they call here 'June Gloom'. Well it's October for heavens sake. What the hell, no weather out in CA so they make up words........like gloom for 'fog' Well I for one LOVE IT cool.gif don't need the 'shades' that keep falling off me nose.

Sure beats the heck out of 123 heat. I gardened from 9-2 and just loved being out in cool weather where I wasn't melting by 10:30 am.

At one time Llamalady posted a couple of videos of an attractive woman who was selling jewellry, an Aussie who mentioned during a speel that she was celiac. I had assumed that it was her. .. .. ..

Wow, it was much easier to keep up back when I was sick!!! Lazy day here, daughter home from school sick, so maybe I can keep up today ..... until I go kick some butts late this afternoon in my pilates classes.

Laura is on FB, too, so I see her there, though I know it's not the same as here. :)

Well, I confess that as a mod, I have access to one clue about Llama Lady that is not available to ordinary members. I can see the IP address from which posts are made. So, after looking at some of her posts again, I started wondering what famous female who has appeared on television would be in the Sacramento area. When a name popped into my head, I investigated, and all the pieces to the puzzle seem to fit.

There has long been speculation that celiac disease might run in the Kennedy family. Look at the posts, and ask yourself if the person who wrote them could have written a book for children.

Our annual Halloween shindig is coming up too, but we're supposed to go as fairy tale characters :blink:

I wish there was some sort of theme! That would help the decision making! I think I'm gonna hit Value Village on Thursday wilst the kiddos are in gymnastics. Apparently they have an amazing selection--and cheap!

No drama, No hangovers!!

In fact, my stomach was aching so bad on Sunday from laughing soooooo hard!! We played this game called 'Things' (Open Original Shared Link) and it started off really tame, then got WAAAAAAAAY raunchy and heelarious (questions like 'things you wouldn't do on your desk' and 'things you shouldn't do in a theater'). Before that we had the radio turned to a classic rock station and had multiple rounds of Jello shots, so we were singing away, doing a 1000 piece puzzle. Everyone had a great time and the weather couldn't have been more perfect!

Well, here is a shot of Maria and the Guv's cozy li'l home. .. . .. ..I'd say it's a go for the psummit. There is likely enough space for us all to have our own rooms. . . .. ....maybe two or three rooms.

I could bring the dogs... . . . . and the cats. . . . . ....we could all bring our parents.... . . . ..

But unfortunately, I do not believe there is room for MILs.... . . .. . .<_<

      Segments of the protein Casein are the same as segments of the protein strands of gluten, the 33-mer segment. The cow's body builds that Casein protein. It doesn't come from wheat. Casein can trigger the same reaction as being exposed to gluten in some people. This is not a dairy allergy (IGE mediated response). It is not lactose intolerance...

      Wheatwacked, what exactly did you intend when you stated that wheat is incorporated into the milk of cows fed wheat? Obviously, the gluten would be broken down by digestion and is too large a molecule anyway to cross the intestinal membrane and get into the bloodstream of the cow. What is it from the wheat that you are saying becomes incorporated into the...

      Wheat in cow feed would not equal gluten in the milk, @Wheatwacked, please back up extraordinary claims like this with some scientific backing, as I've never heard that cow's milk could contain gluten due to what the cow eats.

      Hello, @NanceK, I'm glad you're willing to give Benfotiamine with B Complex another go! I'm certain you'll feel much better. Yes, supplementation is a good idea even if you're healing and gluten free. The gluten free diet can be low in B vitamins and other nutrients. A nutritionist can help guide you to a nutrient dense diet, but food sensitivities...

      Hello, @NanceK, I'm glad you're willing to give Benfotiamine with B Complex another go!  I'm certain you'll feel much better.   Yes, supplementation is a good idea even if you're healing and gluten free.  The gluten free diet can be low in B vitamins and other nutrients. A nutritionist can help guide you to a nutrient dense diet, but food sensitivities and food preferences can limit choices.  I can't consume fish and shellfish due to the sulfa hypersensitivity and iodine content, and dairy is out as well.  I react to casein, the protein in dairy, as well as the iodine in dairy.  My Dermatitis Herpetiformis is aggravated by iodine.   Blood tests for B vitamin levels are notoriously inaccurate.  You can have deficiency symptoms before blood levels change to show a deficiency.  I had subclinical vitamin deficiencies for years which affected my health, leading to a slow downward spiral.  Because the B vitamins are water soluble, they are easily excreted in urine if not needed.  It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.   Wheat and other gluten containing grain products have vitamins and minerals added to them to replace those nutrients lost in processing.  Manufacturers add cheap vitamins that our bodies don't absorb or utilize well.  Even normal people can suffer from vitamin deficiencies.  The rise in obesity can be caused by High Calorie Malnutrition, where people eat more carbohydrate calories but don't get sufficient thiamine and B vitamins to turn the calories into energy.  The calories are stored as fat in an effort to ration out diminishing thiamine  stores.    It's time to buy your own vitamins in forms like Benfotiamine that our bodies can use well.   Not sleeping well and fatigue are symptoms of Thiamine deficiency.   I'm certain Benfotiamine with a B Complex will help you immensely.  Just don't take them at night since B vitamins provide lots of energy, you can become too energetic to sleep.  Better to take them earlier in your day.   Do keep me posted on your progress!
