Hi everybody!!! It feels like forever since I've visited here. Or maybe I just dreamed you all when I had need of you the most. Dunno. Not a lot of silly in me these days...so far proving to be a really nasty year. Seems I've fallen into this truly unpsilly place and I can't get up. I've lost patience with everything (as I like to say....my camel is sipping on it's last straw), and am not liking myself very much these days. I know it'll pass, that I'll stop this pity party and being a blatbaby one of these days, soon. Sorry to be such a wet blanket here.

I'm hoping that you are all well and doing jest fine. I think I'll browse a bit through the psilliness here. Maybe I'll find mine wandering amongst yours.

Hi T :D Nice to see you here--I was just popping on to see what's new. I know it's been such a difficult year for you and it's good to recognize that--and that's not a pity party ;)

Seems kinda quiet as of late, though....

Hi, Tah-reeeesuh! So great to hear from you.

You know, I think you and I need to meet over a couple of bottles of chablis.. . .. .......we'd cry and cry together over our respective crappy fiscal years, and then, being true Psillies Exraordinaire, we would larf and larf.. . . . .. ... ^_^:)

Em, I am off work this Wed and Thurs and it's supposed to be 75 here, can you phly out and hang out at the beach wif me?? ;)

Hope all of ya's had a great mutha's day!!! We had a really good day. Were planning on going on a hike, but couldn't ever find the turn-off, so we ended up at this lake that's 30 min from our house that I'd never heard of. It was amazing!! Great park, Great swimming area, Great weather, Great family! I just layed out on the beach for a few hours and relaxed!!! Annnnnnnd, I got a Cricut Cake decorator machine, which I'm soooooo excited to try out! My fav's though, were an incredibly beautiful tissue paper cherry blossom tree and homemade stationary--I'm a bit of a stationary whore :P -So I will have to use this very thoughtfully, maybe special letters to the kids from special times in their lives

Weather here is sucking up the place. Glad you had nice weather for the lake. Did they use the 40% Michaels coupon for the fancy cake machine?

That was hilarious!

I saw as much of SNL that I could stay awake for. Betty was great! Loved the part about Facebook being a waste of time! :P

Of course you can't use the coupons on anything Cricut <_< I will search craigslist for cartridges, the Expressions cartridges work for the cake machine too!

shouldn't they be called "un"sweat socks (or have I been reading too much Amelia Bedelia?). Seems to me you don't want sweaty boobies- or feet ;) I'm confused though

, if yer losing boob-weight, why are yer bras too small??

Jestgar Rising Star

hmm, good point. boobs are too small. clearly it's affecting my brain as well

I'd take the even smaller boobs that I have to lose these last 8 freakin pounds. My goal is at least 4 more before our interlude next week ;)

Jacquie came in with me this morning for a half-shift at the store. Just four hours, but it is a start. It will probably be a week or more before she can return full time. She's still not able to drive or lift.

I was just thinking about her & wondering how she was doing. Great to hear! Is she enjoying the relaxing or getting bored? To me a pet supply store would be a great place to work.

So, you had both and endoscopy with biopsy and a colonoscopy. That helps me understand what you were trying to communicate. No, no! It never occurred to me that you were trying to mislead me. It's just that we get a lot of posters on the forum who are misinformed about what celiac disease is and how it is diagnosed so I need some clarification from you which you were so gracious to give.
    • barb simkin
I had both the genetic genes for celiac.  My gastroenologist advised he also took a biopsy during one of my colonoscopies and endoscopy and advised I had celiac disease, along with stomach ulcers from my esophagus stomach down to my small bowel. I was shown the ulcers on the catscan and endoscopy report.  I also had polyps in 3 places throughout my large bowel. I was on a strict diet for months following.  I am sorry if I didnt define how I was diagnosed with celiac disease.  I am sorry if you think I was misleading you. I also had to pay $150.00 for the genetic testing.

So, I'm a little confused here. I understand you to say that you have not been officially diagnosed with celiac disease. Is this correct?  You have had genetic testing done to check for the potential for developing celiac disease and that was positive. Is this correct? I think you meant to type "gluten sensitivity" but you typed "gluten insensitivity". Just so we are clear about the terminology, there is celiac disease and there is NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). They are not the same but they have overlapping symptoms. Celiac disease causes damage to the small bowel lining but NCGS does not. NCGS is often referred to in short form as gluten sensitivity. However, people often use the terms celiac disease and gluten sensitivity interchangeably so it can be unclear which disease they are referring to. Genetic testing cannot be used to diagnose celiac disease but it can be used to establish the potential to develop active celiac disease. About 40% of the general population has one or both of  the genes that have been most strongly connected with the potential to develop active celiac disease but only about 1% of the population actually develops active celiac disease. This makes the genetic test useful for ruling out celiac disease but not for diagnosing it. A colonoscopy cannot be used to diagnose celiac disease because it doesn't permit the scope to go up into the small bowel where celiac disease does the damage. They use an endoscopy ("upper GI) for checking the small bowel lining for celiac damage.

I did nor read the chocolate pkg as it was of fered to me and I ate 2 pcs. I do know that only very dark chocolate and and a very few others are gluten free. Most alcohols contain gluten. I have several yrs of not knowing my celiac condition as docs would not do the test. After looking on the internet about my sufferings I insisted on the gene trsting which showed positive for gluten insensitivity and a biopsy on my next colonoscopy that also showed positive which could not help the damage done to my small bowel. So I very rarely have a glass of wine

@barb simkin, are you sure the chocolate products are gluten-free and not "manufactured on equipment that also handles wheat products and tree nuts", i.e., cross-contamination? And what kind of alcoholic beverages are we talking about? Most beers are made from gluten-containing grains. Just checking.
