I cannot believe it is already thursday....not complaining here or anything! I love the weekend, but where did this week go, between surprise winter weather, to ghetto kids, to work and then other things the week passed and all I did was blink.

Okay, off to school meeting....Gad.... :ph34r:

So, how would you guys handle this? Enter the meeting and mention NOTHING of our Plotting of Phlatus with Updates, simply wait, take in the long stares of wonder/concern/curiosity, see if it is at all mentioned or alluded to...OR, go in with guns blazing, giving them no chance to stare, tell them that it is a superb opportunity to teach several scientific/mathematical principles from real-life experience (albeit insane experience)? Hmmmmmm.....

One more option. I simply tell them that my son is a crazy little liar, and who would honestly believe that there are actually a crew of people who would do such a thing?

...Yes, I like this one.

They may already think that . . . :lol::lol: . . . I'm sure that experience has shown that you can't always trust what comes out of the mouths of kids.

Last year, I had lunch with my daughter one day. I was sitting with 7 kindergarteners. I'm not sure how we got on the subject but I was telling them to do a good job of brushing their teeth and that when I was little, I had 5 cavities because I didn't do a good job of brushing and that it was NOT fun to get those cavities filled. Well, we soon had kids trying to outdo each other from "I had a cavity once" to "My brother had 7 cavities". It culminated in "My mom has fake teeth!" I thought, well, she could, or she could have had veneers done or she might just have a crown or he might have made the whole thing up. :lol::lol:

On the other hand, phart charting would be a good way to draw in those kids that are not all that interested in school 'cause it's boring. What's more phun than phart charting?

Grrrr emoticol violation!!!

And the blasts are so rare, no bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof thro' the night, that control's always there.

O say, does her star-spangled sphincter yet stave

Off the gas so cabably? And of this, we all rave...... :lol:

1) LOL :lol:

2) cabably???? I'm all "wth? aNOTHer word I've never seen?"

Even tried to look it up!!! :blink:

Then realized it must be a typo ( : d'oh face: )

Knowing Montessori, they have already taken the idea and run with it as an exercise in graphing, probability, scatter-plotting, lines of best fit....

:lol::lol:

Dem's lotsa maffamatical terminologizin' fer a Poohbah!!!!

<raising hand meekly>

Can this be up for discussion? I mean, I think Andy can be IN the parade, but leading it? I dunno....... :unsure:

See, I"m thinking a major HOTTIE should lead our parade, like George Clooney. ;)

<waving raised hand wildly>

My vote's w/ the Sheriff/Justice of the Peace unless we can get a Charlize, Nicole Kidman, Scarlett Johanssen or, provided they don't speak, Hef's Bimbos Next Door!!!!!!!

<dang this estro-centric thread>

EMILY - Star Spangled Sphincter...........excellent :lol:

heyyyyyyyyyy

That better be for the verses, versus the title.

back to bed. Must rest up for mild, snot-nosed carousing tonight. :lol:

Ahhh yes more potential marriage/adoption proposals :lol:

P.S. Who all watched the Lost recap? So many subtitled explanations I felt like they were broadcasting in Dingovision, facilitating Pseu-zee's following of the plot!!! :P:lol:

P.P.S. I'm sure this belongs on the Lost thread, but couldn't Charlie have squeezed through that porthole that got grenaded? I'm looking at it now, DVR paused, and I think his shoulders would fit!

speaking of Silly Things, did you guys see how the smurf's were celebrating a 50yr (I think) anniversary yesterday and somewhere in Europe I believe there was a smurf parade and there were like a million people dressed as smurfs, riding on mushrooms floats and all.. I love the smurf's!

The sewer saga continues....I was in the bathroom a little while ago and I'll just say there was sphincter involvement. As this was happening, I heard a vehicle drive up. Before I flushed I thought I'd better check--and sure enough--it was the sewer guys.

I expected them yesterday, since the alarm is still going off and they were going to order a new part. I guess it came in a day late and no one called to tell me that they were coming today.

Thank God I didn't flush--they have the cap off the thingy in the yard right now--I'd be absolutely mortified. One of them had to come in to shut off the power--I'd have died! :ph34r:

Well, a verrrrrrry short meeting....

Uh....I brought the subject up before they had time to even stare. Chortling softly, I began with something like, "SO.......I hear my son has spoken in his class about the hilarious, humoroUs-reliever-of-stress-brought-on-by-chronic-disease charting exercise I've done with my on-line friends and fellow sufferers".....(trying to illicit sympathy, here). Long silence. So, I had to continue.

Well, it's fantastic: I think they have their entire spring curriculum mapped out, in every subject. Art: gesture drawings of phlatus. Science: Phlatus Composition, Aerodynamics and Auditory Properties. Natural History: Has Man Always Passed Gas?, Developmental Stages Through the Epochs. French: The Mediterranean Diet--Flatulence Feeder?, and countless mathematics lessons involving probability, problem-solving and graphs.

So!....Got outta that one....... :lol:

On the other hand, phart charting would be a good way to draw in those kids that are not all that interested in school 'cause it's boring. What's more phun than phart charting?

Right! And true to the Montessori style, the fun will be run right through the lesson plans.

I generally don't allow my kids to have toy guns, but a few little ones slip by me... Such as the little ones that come with some of the Transformers action figures.

So I have discovered that Ezra has NAMED Optimus Prime's gun.... and her name is Fifi (FeeFee?) :blink:

No, no! Susie, if you go out, you can use any number of very effective pick-up hook lines...making sure that mucous is clearly visible in your nostrils, turn to the guy beside you and purr, "hey, handsome....wanna help me irrigate my passages?"

Boy, they'll be 'a linin' up! :blink::lol:

everything is quite funny to me today. May be a tad feverish.

If you're looking for a new and strange experience, I suggest adding some antinauseants to the mix. Last time I was in the hospital with a fever and on anti-nausea meds I became quite delirious and had to be put in wrist restraints. :ph34r::blink:

This reminds me of something strange I learned a few months ago that I have been meaning to pass on. Did you know Morning Glory seeds are hallucinogenic? Our very odd mail carrier passed this info onto me when he saw our Morning Glories in our yard this summer. I kept an eye on him every day after to make sure he wasn't slinking around our flower garden. :P

OMG - do not forget to vote on the Martha Stewart thread - - go there and you'll see what I mean. Fool intolerance issues are in SECOND PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We HAVE to win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I definitely have a FOOL intolerance. Foolish people are quite irritating and I think can even lead to dry heaves in extreme cases!

      Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
    • RMJ
      To evaluate the TTG antibody result we’d need to know the normal range for that lab.  Labs don’t all use the same units.  However, based on any normal ranges that I’ve seen and the listed result being greater than a number rather than a specific number, I’d say yes, that is high! Higher than the range where the test can give a quantitative result. You got good advice not to change your diet yet.  If you went gluten free your intestines would start to heal, confusing any further testing,
    • Bev in Milw
      Scott is correct….Thank you for catching that!      Direct link for info  of fillers.    http://www.glutenfreedrugs.com/Excipients.htm Link is on 2nd page  of www.glutenfreedrugs.com   Site was started by a pharmacist (or 2) maybe 15-20 yrs ago with LAST updated in  2017.  This makes it’s Drug List so old that it’s no longer relevant. Companies & contacts, along with suppliers &  sources would need to be referenced, same amount effort  as starting with current data on DailyMed      That being said, Excipient List is still be relevant since major changes to product labeling occurred prior ’17.           List is the dictionary that sources the ‘foreign-to-us’ terms used on pharmaceutical labels, terms we need to rule out gluten.    Note on DailyMed INFO— When you look for a specific drug on DailyMed, notice that nearly all of companies (brands/labels) are flagged as a ‘Repackager’… This would seem to suggest the actual ‘pills’ are being mass produced by a limited number of wholesaler suppliers (esp for older meds out of  patent protection.).      If so, multiple repackager-get  bulk shipments  from same supplier will all  be selling identical meds —same formula/fillers. Others repackager-could be switching suppliers  frequently based on cost, or runs both gluten-free & non- items on same lines.  No way to know  without contacting company.     While some I know have  searched pharmacies chasing a specific brand, long-term  solution is to find (or teach) pharmacy staff who’s willing help.    When I got 1st Rx ~8 years ago, I went to Walgreens & said I needed gluten-free.  Walked  out when pharmacist said  ‘How am I supposed  to know…’  (ar least he as honest… ). Walmart pharmacists down the block were ‘No problem!’—Once, they wouldn’t release my Rx, still waiting on gluten-free status from a new supplier. Re: Timeliness of DailyMed info?   A serendipitous conversation with cousin in Mi was unexpectedly reassuring.  She works in office of Perrigo, major products of OTC meds (was 1st to add gluten-free labels).  I TOTALLY lucked out when I asked about her job: “TODAY I trained a new full-time employee to make entries to Daily Med.’  Task had grown to hours a day, time she needed for tasks that couldn’t be delegated….We can only hope majorities of companies are as  conscientious!   For the Newbies…. SOLE  purpose of  fillers (possible gluten) in meds is to  hold the active ingredients together in a doseable form.  Drugs  given by injection or as IV are always gluten-free!  (Sometimes drs can do antibiotics w/ one-time injection rather than 7-10 days of  pills .) Liquid meds (typically for kids)—still read labels, but  could be an a simpler option for some products…

      So I recently had allergy testing for IGE antibodies in response to foods. My test results came back positive to corn, white potatoes, egg whites. Tomatoes, almonds and peanuts to name a few.  I have had obvious reactions to a few of these - particularly tomatoes and corn- both GI issues. I don’t really understand all this allergy versus celiac stuff. If the food allergies are mild do I have to avoid these foods entirely? I don’t know what I will eat if I can’t  have corn based gluten free products
    • JForman
      We have four children (7-14 yo), and our 7 year old was diagnosed with NCGS (though all Celiac labs were positive, her scope at 4 years old was negative so docs in the US won't call it celiac). We have started her on a Gluten Free diet after 3 years of major digestive issues and ruling out just about everything under the sun. Our home and kitchen and myself are all gluten-free. But I have not asked my husband/her dad or her other siblings to go completely gluten-free with us. They are at home, but not out of the home. This has led to situations when we are eating out where she has to consistently see others eating things she can't have and she has begun to say "Well, I can't have <fill in the blank>...stupid gluten."  How have you supported your gluten-free kiddos in the mental health space of this journey, especially young ones like her. I know it's hard for me as an adult sometimes to miss out, so I can't imagine being 7 and dealing with it! Any tips or ideas to help with this?
