Have you been tested for parasites? It is possible that they could be the cause.

Thanks for the reply..... but yes I have been tested for parasites at the same time

I was diagnosed with Celiac..........I sometimes wonder if they were missed

....on the other hand, I had no problem with itch before I went Gluten free....

very frustrating!!!!! anyone with more info or recommendations??????

How about hemroids? They can also make you itch, they can be external or internal.Vagasil will calm the itch (external only). Have you changed laundry soap or dryer sheets, bath soap & so on, they can cause real havoc on a persons skin.

I was going to suggest these things.

I have internal hemmorhoids, and I get the itching sometimes, too. Not from gluten, necessarily, but from acidic or highly spiced foods--or even something I'm intolerant to. It dosen't take much to set it off--a small amount of corn syrup in a product, for example, will do it for me.

Make sure you wipe very thoroughly  but not so much to irritate, and try a bath to speed healing.

try using baby wipes instead of toilet paper and put corn startch based baby powder

Yes I get the same thing. I use vaseline and it seems to take the itch away for awhile. I seem to get very dry there.

I have used witch hazel to help stop itching (just soak a cotton ball, and apply for several minutes). It sucks huh!

Try dropping Nightshades (tomato, pepper, potato) and diary.

CHECK YOUR DIET!!! Could be candida, or intestinal yeast. Someone suggested parasites and yes, that could be it. It 's even more likely an instestinal yeast problem.

Somewhere here, Rachel has a thread about it. I have chronic lyme disease and with that suppressed immune system also comes yeast. Rachel posted about a connection between celiac and candida. I would agree with what she posted. I hope you can find it. [i just read it yesterday.]

Here is some additional info on the yeast:

Open Original Shared Link

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."

Five Steps to Candida Elimination:

1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.

2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]

3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]

4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]

5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

Also check into two products:

www.theralac.com

Both are awesome for the above problems.

My son has that only after consuming oatmeal. Cory

It could be other allergies/intolerances. In reality, gluten doesn't bother me that much. I swell up like a balloon and my joints get cranky for a day or two and then I'm fine. But nothing, and I mean _NOTHING_ hits me worse now since going gluten free than seeds/nuts. Even things which should not have protein in it like peanut oil or even canola oil(made from rapeseeds). Everytime I accidentally ingest any sort of nut/seed in any form I would immediately have D within 2 hours, and would have the worst itchy anus. I'd have D only once, but my anus would still itch for days. Since removing the offending foods, I've been itchy anus free.

hi,

i agree that this might be candida. you must take a stool test to find out. this may sound funny, but dandruff is also caused by candida and whenever my candida flairs up (i get itching on the toes if i have too many fruits), i just put some head and shoulders on the toes while i'm still in the shower and let it get rinsed off with the shower water. the itching usually stops immediately.

Definitely could be yeast. Try getting Monistat or Micatin cream over the counter and see if that helps.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am not suggesting that a topical cream will cure you, but a good test.

I have the same thing, it is soooo annoying. I did a gluten challenge about 2 months ago and only lasted 3 weeks. My doc told me to stop cause I was getting too sick. But the itchy bum persisted. I kept on thinking it would get better, but it got worse. I started bleeding badly and it started hurting soooooooo bad! Turned out to be ulcerative proctitis. Temporary hopefully due to gluten and ......other allergies, casein namely. If it doesnt go away go to a doctor . It could also be hemorroids or an anal infection. My N.D gave me citricidal for a chronic bacterial infection, which could also cause anal itching. There are so many causes for that it is hard to know. I am taking proctosone and the bleeding had stopped but not the itching. And when it itches, man does it itch. Being in public is rather emabarrassing!!!! Hope it gets better and hope you find the cause. I also think that when we go totally gluten free that our immune system goes a little wacky sometimes and causes weird things to happen, just a theory.!!!! Hope you find your cause and God bless

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
