Stef:

Just checking in. Looks like things are very near.

With my first, I had four days of "false labor." (labor, but not dialating, nor progressive). After the fourth day, the doctor told me to drink a glass of wine. Why the heck could he not have told me the first day!!! It sure helped and the labor stopped. (She, was two weeks early).

It sounds like that is what you are having. This helps your actual labor time. When I finally went into actual labor.... my water broke at 6:00am and she was delivered at 6:45am. Boy, it was quite an experience. I didn't even have time to breath. 100% natural.

Take to day and rest. You will be busy soon enough. Thinking of you. :)

Well, it isn't always bubbly. Maybe like 1 out of 10 times and then it isn't really bubbly, just like a little bit. This is very strange. I will wait a little bit longer and see what happens.

After I posted here I laid back down. Same thing, when I woke up ten minutes ago I had cramps and needed to go to the restroom. Now I'm fine :o . I decided to just wait it out a few more hours and see what happens and then make a decision.

Sounds like things are progressing. I'm not any help because I never went through labor.

Did you guys get that bad storm that came through? It was bad on the East shore!!!

Oh, I completely forgot. We saw some lightning on our way home from the Fair. It seemed to come from over Harrisburg area somewhere. I never noticed much of a storm here and I was up two times tonight. However when I looked out the window this morning I noticed water on my dh pick up truck. So it must have rained at least.

Stef the lighting was bad! We were leaving the Route 22 Target and lighting struck real bad and all the lights went out.

The lightening here was HORRIBLE!!! We left the races when it started to rain and the lightening kept on for over an hour. We drove around for a little until the rain stopped. It was a miserable evening.

Oh, yeah, and our dryer went out on us yesterday. Ugh... Now I can't do laundry until we can get someone out to fix it. My hubby took the clothesline down and there's no where to hang a temporary clothesline either outside or inside. Does that sound like the baby's coming soon, or what??? Ha! With my luck, I was surprised the baby didn't come last night.

I thought of something yesterday. If the baby waits until September 4th to come, it will be exactly 6 months between her birthday and Tori's birthday. Tori's birthday is March 4th. How cool would that be?

That would be neat if they were six months apart for birthdays. :) Glad you guys got through the storm ok and hope you can get the dryer taken care of soon.

For our children we have the 22nd, 23rd and 21st.....wanted the 24th for the last one but that was Thanksgiving. Don't know too many doctors that would willing be in for c-sections on a holiday. :P They are different months though.

Stef and Angie,

I just wanted to wish you both the best of luck with your upcoming arrivals! You are both inspirations....you, and all mothers!

Anxiously awaiting the big day for you two!

Hey Angie,

My younger son's birthday is also Sept 4th! What a great day for a birthday :D

The year he was born (1984) it was--you guessed it--Labor Day

Guhlia Rising Star

Wow, I'll bet the hospital will be short staffed on labor day... I hope the maternity ward isn't. I'm hoping we go before then, but who knows. My due date isn't until Friday. Plus, if she waits until September to come it won't be so bad, at least she'll have a really pretty birthstone. My birthday is in August and I always hated my birthstone. September 4th wouldn't be such a bad day to have her. Plus, labor day weekend is always still warm out so we would definitely be able to do outdoor birthday parties for her. It stinks with Tori's birthday in March always having to do indoor parties.

Stef, I love that diaper bag!!! It's so cool!!! Is it about the size of the JJ Cole bags? I always thought one of those would be really nice to have, but never wanted to spend the money on it.

I know at our hospital we are pretty well staffed on the holidays. I am not too keen on the Peridot either, I am not a green person though....I am a blue/purple girl.

You should do an ice-skating party for Tori when she gets a little older, that seems fun.

little d Enthusiast

Stef, the fluid that you were speaking of you said that it was yellow in color, it could just be a little meconium, it does not always have to be green it could also be yellow. I know you are past the time that I put for your delivery but it is still the 26th.

Angie, hi

our hostpital on holidays, depending of our census (paients present) we staff accordingly some (RN's, techs) may get to stay home and get called later if Labor and Delivery gets busy then we will eventually get busy. The few holidays that any part of the floor we have 2 sides, one side will get closed are maybe Thanksgiving and Christmas. And it also depends on if your nurse checks on you when she is suppose to, usually every 2hours or sooner.

Good Luck to both of ya'll I hope that ya'lls labors are short and sweet if possible

I am totally a blue/purple kind of girl!!! Purple is my favorite color, blue's my favorite clothing and accessory color. Funny, huh? I could definitely do without the peridot. You're an August birthday too, aren't you?

Yeah, I've thought about that. We have an ice skating rink in Lancaster. I've never ice skated, but I've always wanted to learn. I think that would be a really cool place for a party. I want to give her a skating party too one of these days. I think she'd like that. We have a tiny house and I'm not much for entertaining guests, so we've always had Tori's parties at other places like kiddie gymnasiums and the like. I can't wait until she's a little older so we can start doing more grown up parties like the skating parties. I have no idea what we're going to do for her this year. We've pretty much exhausted all the kiddie stuff around here. Plus, all of her cousins are older, some much older, and they all get invited to the parties. I was thinking about renting a room at the rec center for this year, but I'm not sure I want to take on planning a party with a tiny baby. I'm not a very good planner anyway.

Stef, anything new???

Yep, dying to know...Stef any news!!!

stef-the-kicking-cuty Enthusiast

Hi there, everybody. No news here. Well, I did not go to the movies yesterday, cause about 45 minutes before I wanted to leave, hubby came home. And I found it kind of cruel to go, when he didn't want to go, so I stayed at home... lol. I give it another try today. The first evening show is at 5pm and I hope, this time, he won't be back until then. Otherwise I might have a short change in plans. I will fuss around the house the entire day and practice for the Capoeira Batizado on September 29th in Lancaster. The physical and the history part  . We don't have to learn or know the history, but I thought, either all or nothing. I'm a perfectionist. Well, and physical I only study the basics for right now, no gymnastics, until little Lukas is here. And then he can watch mommy flipping in the living room :P . But if this moving part should get the contractions going and labor started, then so be it. Then I kill two birds with one stone. I will get my baby out and practice for the Batizado at the same time  , plus I like to multitask. Then, when I'm exhausted of all the movement I either nap or learn history or work on the nursery and some arts and crafts. So this will be pretty much my day. I will let you know, if something changes

stef-the-kicking-cuty Enthusiast

I read somewhere, that a glas of wine together with a relaxing bath can get labor going or started. Does anybody know anything about this? I thought, you shouldn't take a bath, when labor isn't really established yet, cause then you relax more and then labor really does not set in??? Or maybe the combination bath together with the wine does the trick? I'm confused. Some sources also tell you, you shouldn't drink alcohol during pregnancy. Others tell you, a glas of wine at the end of your ninth month shouldn't do any harm, cause baby's mostly developed already. Do any of you know anything about this? If you heard about it or even tried this yourself, did it work? I'm sorry, I can't find the thread anymore, where it was mentioned. I'm also not sure, if it was on the preggo board or on the celiac board. Help me, please...

I don't know about the wine thing, I saw MammaGoose post something about the wine, I sure that she knows.

I have also heard that having sex will get things started too, there is a cemical in the sperm that will get things started but I think that if you are dialated any then I might work.

If you have not had you baby yet I guess that I don 't win <_<

Sex works.......not exactly thrilling when you are 9 months preggo, but totally worth it if it gets some contractions going!

Good luck, hope you are holding your baby boy soon!

Is it about the size of the JJ Cole bags? I always thought one of those would be really nice to have, but never wanted to spend the money on it.

Hi there, I have no idea what JJ Cole bags are. Well, when I hang this bag I made over my shoulders, it looks like it's embracing me... lol. It's a little bit big, cause, well, ah, it's guys size  .

And there's something else I wanted to let you guys know. I think, this is it. I'm trickling a little as we speak. The funny part is, if this is it, I was off with my prediction about when the entire thing starts by 15 minutes. Remember, when I wrote, that I think, Lukas starts to want out, after my first division starts on Tuesday 8:45am? And that it would be 2:45am in the US then? Well, I woke up tonight at 3:00am (it was even a few minutes before that, cause I staid in bed a little) and something was running out of me. So I thought, I had peed myself and went to the bathroom. But when I was sitting on the potty, just a little bit came out. So, I was like. Hm, I must have peed so much, that now nothing's coming anymore. By then I had stopped leaking.

Since I had run out of liners (so I thought at first) I put on a complete new panty and went bag to bed. I wasn't lying down for 5 seconds a little bit came out again, but not much. So I tried to squeeze and it stopped. And we learnt, when you can stop it by squeezing, it's not it. I didn't even have time to think about it and immediately drifted off to sleep again. By 5:20 (exactly 2 minutes

before this moon eclipse happened...lol) I woke up again and I had something coming out of me again. This time the second panty was completely wet at the bottom. Again that bubbly stuff. This time it's not smelling sweet and I am having contractions, that I am timing at the moment.

It looks like my water broke and it also doesn't smell like urine. More like sweet kind of..., but since things are progressing apparently I wanted to make sure and that's why I'm still sitting here typing. I think this is it though guys.

Your high lactulose test, indicating out of control Small Itenstinal Bacterial O,vergrowth is one symptom.  You likely have low vitamin D, another symptom.  Unless you get lots of sun.   Celiac Disease is a disease of malabsorption, often leading to subclinical vitamin deficiencies.  A lot of people have these symptoms just before an acute phase of Celiac Disease.  Each of the symptoms can have multiple causes that are not celiac disease,  but when you start having multiple symptoms,  and each symptom is treated as a separate disease,  you have to think, maybe these are all one cause. celiac disease. There is a misconception that Celiac Disease is  a gastrointestinal disease and symptoms are only gastro related.  Wrong.  It is an autoimmune disease and has many symptoms that usually are disregarded.  I made that mistake until 63 y.o.  It can cause a dermatitis herpetiformis rash,  white spots on the brain.  It caused my alcoholism, arthritis, congested sineses, protein spots on my contacts lenses, swollen prostate, symptoms that are "part of aging". You may be tolerating gluten, the damage will happen. Of curiosity though, your age, sex, are you outside a lot without sunscreen?
    • trents
It would be interesting to see if you were tested again for blood antibodies after abandoning the gluten free diet for several weeks to a few months what the results would be. Don't misunderstand me. I'm not necessarily suggesting you do this but it is an option to think about. I guess I'm saying there is a question in my mind as to whether you actually ever had celiac disease. As I said above, the blood antibody testing can yield false positives. And it is also true that celiac-like symptoms can be produced by other medical conditions.

Thank you for the reply In the early 2000's I did not have the endoscopy nor the biopsy I do not have those initial records I have only consulted a GI drs in the USA
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @numike! We sometimes get reports like yours from community members who believe their celiac disease has "gone away." We think there can sometimes be cases of remission but not long term healing and that continued consumption of gluten will eventually result in a relapse. This is the state of our knowledge at this point but there is still a lot we don't know and celiac disease continues to surprise us with new findings on a frequent basis. So, we would not advise you to abandon a strict gluten-free diet. Perhaps you can draw consolation from the fact that at the present time you seem to be able to consume gluten without consequences when in situations where you do not have the option to eat gluten-free. But I would advise you to not generalize your recent experience such that you throw caution to the wind. But I want to go back to what you said about being diagnosed by blood test in the early 2000's. Did you not also have that confirmed with an endoscopy and biopsy of the small bowel lining? Normally, a celiac disease diagnosis is not concluded based on a blood test alone because there can be false positives. What kind of doctor did this testing? Was it done in the U.S. or overseas? In the last few years, it has become common in the U.K. to grant a celiac diagnosis from blood testing alone if the antibody test scores are 10x normal or greater. But that practice has not caught on in the U.S. yet and was not in place internationally in the early 2000's. Do you have a record of the tests that were done, the scores and also the reference ranges for negative vs. positive for the tests?
