I need advise on what type of gift, if any to give to someone who just sucessfully completed his 31 year career. I use to work with him, I was new to the job and he became my friend..not too many did. He is very sweet and I really appreciated him taking me in when I was new. Oh ya..he was the only one that kept in touch with me when I was off on workers comp for surgery. Anywy...need an appropriate/professional gift idea. Thanks!

Does he like to golf or have any pastimes he enjoys, you could always get him something like that. Or take him out to a very nice dinner.

A gift cert. to his favorite store or restaurant

A gift basket of his favorite snacks

Gift cert. to a bed and breakfast for a jump start on retirement.

Movie tickets or concert tickets

plant a tree in his name somewhere

gift cert to a nursery (he can pick out his own plants)

Those are a few off the top of my head :)

Does he have any outside interests?

A cooking class at a local culinary school - or with a local chef?

A wine tasting class? A lot of vineyards offer them.

Dance lessons at a local studio?

A hardcover copy of a book you have really enjoyed with a letter explaining how important his kindnesses have been to you...

A magazine subsription to Golf Magazine- or any other of his interests....seems there's a magazine for everything.....

I was also thinking gift certificate for something he can do in his new free time. Like dance lessons or a wine tasting class. That's what my parents did the minute they retired :)

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
