Costco Coffee, Starbucks Roast - Anyone React To It?

Has anyone here ever had a reaction to COSTCO whole bean coffee, regular arabica (not decaf), roasted by Starbucks - especially recently?

I am able to drink other brands without an issue, and in the past have used this brand (probably without issue but not sure - I'm still trying to get on the other side of occasional gluten episodes).

Note: It could also be my coffee maker or my grinder. Not sure, so I wanted to check to see if others have had any problems.

Thank you.

Am having tea this morning -- don't want to risk a "test" with our home coffee. Hoping some folks will reply here. Thanks!

No one commented on this, but I will several years later.  I've been gluten free for over 2 years, but kept bloating.  I kept removing other food and chemicals out of my diet.  After a trip away from our home coffee (which was Costco) with less bloating, I eliminated Costco coffee (Seattle Mountain brand which is the Arabica whole beans).  About a month ago, Costco coffee made it's way back into my kitchen.  After many months of almost no bloating, once I started drinking the Costco coffee, I was bloated every day.  I took Costco coffee out of our kitchen.  I was almost back to normal except today.  I had a cup of Starbucks decaf around noon.  It is Arabica beans also.  I bloated right after that.  I can have Starbucks House Blend without issues.

Also notice that my GERD came back with a vengeance when Costco coffee snuck back into our kitchen.  After I took Costco coffee back out of the kitchen, GERD disappeared UNTIL the decaf Arabica coffee from today.  I'd like to hear if others have experienced this also.

As a heads up, my doctor also told me to be aware of teas.  Many factories use a glue to hold together the bag which is wheat-based.

That is an old internet rumor.  Bags are heat sealed usually.  A wheat based glue would dissolve in hot water.

A few teas are "malted" so you would want to check ingredients for barley or malt.

I have been using Folgers Special Roast coffee without any issues. I haven't tried any of Starbuck's since going gluten free. I hope that is of some help.

I am new to this and am still in the diagnostic stage, but would be very unhappy if I have to give up coffee. What  other coffees would you recommend for someone with celiac disease?

Coffee is gluten free. Drink whatever brand you like.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
