Very harsh.  I still can't quite accept it.  Every now and then the world seems a little dimmer when someone wonderful moves on to their next adventure.

Loving that things never change in the 'Ville :)

Took the turks out foraging in the front yard today.  They was askeert, but it got more fun when they found the frog.

Struttin' turkeys, kake, good hygiene.....this is setting up to be a rip-snorter!

Am so soooooooper excited about the parade !!!  :D

I don't even know what section it is in...the operashuns of this new phorum really conphuzes me.    Pads and Kareighhhnnne found it.....is it under weight/diet issues?  I think so.....

it's a terribly sad article and.....as celiacs, I think we would ALL have the same reaction in reading it, but I am curious to know.  she hasn't approved my comment.....I read a couple dozen of the 300+ comments and they were all just supportive of weight issues, accepting who you are at whatever weight (her father struggled with weight all his life and died a slow, miserable celiac death - but this was never, ever addressed apparently)....

OH Psills....I think I can join the parade.....where are the seashells for Yeti's braids?  Whose got the filthy jester robes??  I have been sick for weeks with all manner of ague and now I think I am FINALLY WELL !!!  B)   OOMM!!!! <-----(out of my mind )

And dazzling jewelry for the Yeti (and of course for Kween Care-ng and her court). I'll send it through cyber space :D I do wish with all my heart that we could find a midway point and finally all meet. Peoter & Jacquie- I want to be on your next itinerary. Actually all dear psillies are welcome to lovely RI. We have way too much house for two people.

Love

Loey

P.S. glad you're finally feeling better. I still have my ladyparts issues. Going on 4 months. I've been avoiding seeing a uroloist because I had a very bad experience when Tony was a baby. Hopefully my naturopath and gyno will be able to figure this out once & for all.

WELL.......it looks like we are heading to Boston at the end of June, and I will be meeting up with BEVEL!!  :)   :)  SO excited about this. Don't think there are any other Psillies close enough to that part of MA to rendezvous with us....but the invitation is open! Would LOVE to have a Psilly Love-in....

Now, recent news has strongly discouraged me from trying to entice any of youse to this nation's capital for a touristy rendezvous....

I'm only 2 hours from Boston! Perhaps we can find a midway point or it would be even better if I could get over my "issue" and actually come to Boston. I sure could use a psilly love-in!

Wheatwacked, are you speaking of the use of potassium bromide and and azodicarbonamide as dough modifiers being controlling factor for what? Do you refer to celiac reactions to gluten or thyroid disease, kidney disease, GI cancers?
    • Scott Adams
Excess iodine supplements can cause significant health issues, primarily disrupting thyroid function. My daughter has issues with even small amounts of dietary iodine. While iodine is essential for thyroid hormone production, consistently consuming amounts far above the tolerable upper limit (1,100 mcg/day for adults) from high-dose supplements can trigger both hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, worsen autoimmune thyroid diseases like Hashimoto's, and lead to goiter. Other side effects include gastrointestinal distress. The risk is highest for individuals with pre-existing thyroid conditions, and while dietary iodine rarely reaches toxic levels, unsupervised high-dose supplementation is dangerous and should only be undertaken with medical guidance to avoid serious complications. It's best to check with your doctor before supplementing iodine.
    • Wheatwacked
In Europe they have banned several dough modifiers potassium bromide and and azodicarbonamide.  Both linked to cancers.  Studies have linked potassium bromide to kidney, thyroid, and gastrointestinal cancers.  A ban on it in goes into effect in California in 2027. I suspect this, more than a specific strain of wheat to be controlling factor.  Sourdough natural fermentation conditions the dough without chemicals. Iodine was used in the US as a dough modifier until the 1970s. Since then iodine intake in the US dropped 50%.  Iodine is essential for thyroid hormones.  Thyroid hormone use for hypothyroidism has doubled in the United States from 1997 to 2016.   Clinical Thyroidology® for the Public In the UK, incidently, prescriptions for the thyroid hormone levothyroxine have increased by more than 12 million in a decade.  The Royal Pharmaceutical Society's official journal Standard thyroid tests will not show insufficient iodine intake.  Iodine 24 Hour Urine Test measures iodine excretion over a full day to evaluate iodine status and thyroid health. 75 year old male.  I tried adding seaweed into my diet and did get improvement in healing, muscle tone, skin; but in was not enough and I could not sustain it in my diet at the level intake I needed.  So I supplement 600 mcg Liquid Iodine (RDA 150 to 1000 mcg) per day.  It has turbocharged my recovery from 63 years of undiagnosed celiac disease.  Improvement in healing a non-healing sebaceous cyst. brain fog, vision, hair, skin, nails. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis celiac disease experience exacerbation of the rash with iodine. The Wolff-Chaikoff Effect Crying Wolf?

same! how amazing you have a friend who has celiac disease. i find myself wishing i had someone to talk about it with other than my partner (who has been so supportive regardless)
    • RMJ
They don’t give a sample size (serving size is different from sample size) so it is hard to tell just what the result means.  However, the way the result is presented  does look like it is below the limit of what their test can measure, so that is good.
