  1. I use the Coconut Desert Essence as well. Also, hormonal issues, such as thyroid, can cause problems with your hair. If you've noticed a dramatic change, it may be worth checking into. I did a few years ago and that's how I found out my thyroid hormones were low.
  2. Have you been tested for SIBO, or small intenstinal bacteria overgrowth? My GI mentioned it to me lately and said when people seem to be intolerant to nearly everything, this is usually what they have...just a thought.
  3. I'm right there with you - also throw in the fact that I prefer whole foods vs processed, and I found myself lost for what to eat in the morning. Most mornings, I'm not in the mood for meat so that further complicates matters. But here are some of my standard breakfasts: Raw tahini butter or peanut butter (about two tablespoons) mixed well with applesauce...
  4. I wondered about that too. I called them and they said it was not derived from barley. I stopped taking them as well, but for other reasons.
  5. They do. I know Garden of Life has them for sure. Also, for all those interested in food-based vitamins, many brands require you to take 2-4 capsules per day. Several brands do have one-a-day varieties, but I break those down by two and take one half in the morning and one in the evening. Taking vitamins this way allows you to get a couple of good "flushes...
  6. New Chapter is good as the poster above reports. My husband and I normally take Garden of Life...he's still on them, but I'm currently taking the gluten-free prenatal from Rainbow Light. They are also food based. There are several brands out there, just make sure they don't contain barley or wheat grass. Some brands say gluten-free but still contain these...
  7. Quite a journey you've been on...I hope it ends with some answers. Please keep us posted.
  8. Me too. I only take food-based vitamins. My naturopath says that synthetic vitmains actually rob your body of vitamin and minerals in the long run because "isolates" are not full-spectrum and so they have to find other "pieces" in your body so they can be assimilated. I'm not explaining this eloquently but I watched a DVD about it and it really makes sense...
  9. I've been on a strict gluten free diet for years now. In October I went on a week-long vacation and definitely got glutened more times than I could count on one hand. I was absolutely miserable by the end of it...my stomach swelled to the size of a ball and I had severe C. Well, one week later I had my annual pap smear and it was the first time in my life...
  10. I've known about her for years. She was the first person that I can remember to "preach" the gospel of probiotics. I've used many of her products...they are great.
  11. 5% of the normal population has ANAs and are completely healthy. I have them as well but they have never progressed into anything. If you don't have any worrisome symptoms I wouldn't put much more thought into it. I spent a lot of needless moments in my life scared to death that I would have another autoimmune problem...wish I wouldn't have done that now...
  12. I never eat them out but I do buy Trader Joes fresh cut (not the frozen ones) and then lighlty spray them with olive oil and garlic salt. SOOOO good!
  13. Have you been tested for a wheat allergy. Either way, sounds like gluten is not for you.
  14. God's hands are the perfect place to place your fears. Congrats, momma! This is great news. So many of my friends are pregnant right now, in fact, my best friend just found out she's having twins. A lot of blessings on the way!
  15. No, hpylori is VERY common and does not cause that kind of damage. I have hpylori as well. I've kept it in control though dietary changes only.
  16. Yes, I used to go through spells like this that would drive me mad. I haven't had them since I got on a good supplement program, so my guess it's what the previous poster suggestion (B 12) or iron. I was low in both.
  17. My only tip is that you have to be sure to order real crab...most use imitation which contains wheat.
  18. If you want accurate testing, you'll need to continue eating gluten until you get the tests done.
  19. Also, keep in mind that the recommended daily amount was just raised to 1,000 IUs per day (I think). My doctor says that's still far too low and has me take 5,000 IUs each day. When you're really low, you may have to start off by taking in the upward range of 15,000-30,000 IUs a day (I'd ask your doctor for the recommendation, of course). Always take Vitamin...
  20. Something to keep in mind: our bodies often become addicted to foods we are intolerant/allergic to. I never thought I could live without spaghetti or bread... but I don't even think about those things now. It will get easier as your body lets go of the addiction, I promise!
  21. Me too. I ate a bag of gluten-free granola and paid big time for that. Rib cage pain, D, bloat...ugh.
  22. I have two copies of the 0602 gene Open Original Shared Link
  23. My grandmother died of an asthma attack, and my father was equally as bad. Childhood memories are filled of him GASPING for air and having to go to the hospital. Thank God my dad was savvy enough to make the dairy connection about a decade ago and hasn't since had to use an inhaler, unless he accidentally consumes dairy.
  24. It could be a number of things, I know Tapioca would do it for me. Others are very sensitive to soy, as am I. Also, all the partially hydrogenated oils may be hard to digest if you're still healing. It you find this happens often with processed foods, it may be best to go back to the basics until you're fully healed.
  25. Same with me...resolved after dealing with my adrenal/thyroid issues and really increasing my protein intake.
