  1. Your previous positive test what was the result and the lab range? Low positives can be the result of other issues but it that result was a high positive you should have had a scope done. Do go ahead and get the panels rerun. Celiac can appear at any time and for women the trigger can often be childbirth.
  2. Low levels of B12 can cause this. You may want to supplement with a sublingual B12 tablet.
  3. Have your doctors done any vitamin and mineral panels on you? Sores like that can be caused by vitamin deficencies. The B vitamins in particular. You could try supplementing with a stress level B + C combo.
  4. If you got a diagnosis of DH no further testing is needed. A diagnosis of DH is a diagnosis of celiac. You can get back on the diet and start healing.
  5. Sure. If it isn't sticky gluten you could also just rinse your hands. I sometimes use my dish soap to wash my hands also.
  6. There are a couple things that I find helpful for hand pain and stiffness. One is doing hot and cold hand soaks. 2 bowls one with water as warm as you can stand and the other with cold water with an ice cube or two. Dunk hands in each going from hot to cold every two minutes or so for a bit and finish with the hot. I also use a parrafin bath. With both I...
  7. Please keep in mind that there are false negatives on biopsy and don't discount the positive blood work and the diagnosis that your doctor gave you based on those results if your biopsies should come back negative or inconclusive. You can get back on the diet the day the biopsies are taken. You don't have to wait for the results.
  8. It can take a bit of time for the antibody reaction to go away. I get joint pain and stiffness also when glutened and find hot showers, gentle stretching and an anti-inflammatory help a great deal. I am so sorry you are in so much discomfort and hope it is over soon. Please be careful and ask questions before consuming any foods you haven't prepared yourself...
  9. You could call 1 800 Wegmans and talk to a rep. I trust Wegmans for their knowledge of gluten free foods and have never been CC'd or reacted in any way to anything they label with the Circle G. Because of this I would likely pass on the ricotta.
  10. You had positive blood work that became negative after a time on the diet and are having a reoccurance of symptoms on a challenge and your doctor has said he considers you diagnosed. Whether you choose to do a biopsy is up to you. You will be put under for the procedure unless you choose to do it unsedated. A very few people have done that but it would be...
  11. Sounds like you are diagnosed. Get back on the diet strictly and hope you are feeling better real soon.
  12. Sorry you are suffering so. have you read the Newbie 101 thread at the top of the Coping section? If not you should do so as you may not be doing all you need to do to keep yourself safe on the gluten-free diet. You might also want to do a challenge and have a full celiac panel done. Your regular doctor can order the tests and we really need the full panel...
  13. I wonder if some of his attitude is driven by the fear that he has celiac also. You may want to encourage him to get tested. I hope he isn't blowing off his need to brush his teeth after that pizza before you two kiss. There are companies that make gluten free pizza you may want to keep a couple in the freezer for times he orders one. If he cares for you...
  14. Many of us have been thought to have psychological issues prediagnosis. I even had a neurologist look at the lesions on my brain scan and tell me they were normal (they were not they were diagnostic of antibodies attacking the brain) and he told me I just wanted to be sick. After I was finally diagnosed my GI asked me the best part and I told him sleeping...
  15. It does for me. Artificial sweeteners and I don't get along well. I just buy gum sweetened with sugar.
  16. Posterboy, The OP was not asking for anyone to give her advice because of issues she was having. She is wanting to interview women celiacs about their experiences. Did you read her post?
  17. Welcome. We have quite similiar stories as far as the length of time it took for diagnosis. I want to assure you that you can heal. I had severe neurological issues and could not walk unaided by the time I was diagnosed and was covered in various places with the joy that is DH in addition to all the severe tummy issues. I didn't think it possible but I did...
  18. I like Tom Sawyer flour for stuff like meats and scalloped potatoes and use Pamela's Mix for baked goods.
  19. Did you stop your supplements before they tested your levels? Your doctor should have told you to do so for a couple weeks so they could get an accurate level. You might want to get an appointment with a dermatologist to get things checked out. Do bring your own shampoo and styling products to the hairdresser with you to be on the safe side. I do it whenever...
  20. Have you ever seen a chiropracter? I have had issues like this a few times and it turned out to be a pinched nerve. I have a good chiro and he was able to help. I should also note that I do have some nerve damage from celiac that has lead to a loss of feeling and motor signals in my right leg. That was helped with seeing a physical therapist. The numbness...
  21. If you have positive blood work you need the biopsy BEFORE you begin the diet. Otherwise you will need a gluten challenge for up to 2 months or the biopsy will likely be a false negative. there are no blood tests for gluten sensitivity. Only ones for Celiac. If you blood tests were positive you are almost for sure celiac. The choice whether to just go gluten...
  22. I let the pharmacy know I am celiac and need gluten free meds. The pharmacist checks. Until I found a pharmacy that I trusted I would call the maker. Most drug companies numbers can be found on line. Some companies will say no gluten ingredients but no quarentee. That is a CYA statement. When I called companies I said I had a wheat allergy as rye and barley...
  23. If you are passing more than a couple drops of blood you need to find another GI doctor for a second opinion. If your present doctor gets offended then you need to drop him like a hot rock. If you can easily get to the Mayo clinic then go there. If not then find another locally. Is it possible you are continually reglutening yourself? There is a lot to...
  24. CC is cross contamination. An example would be items that are gluten free by ingredients but made in a factory that has shared lines. Using a colander for straining your gluten free pasta that was used for wheat pasta is another example as is using a toaster that has been used for wheat bread (you need one that is new and will never be used for gluten bread...
  25. I don't know much about thyroid issues. I simply avoided iodized salt and iodine in my supplements. If the thyroid issues impact your need for iodine do talk to your doctor before stopping it. Do also talk to your doctor about stopping the dapsone. You may need to taper the dosage so the DH doesn't flare up again but I am not sure about that. I can identify...
