ARCHIVED Soy Crisps?
ravenwoodglass replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sorry without the capital letters it didn't look like a name. Too many years teaching I guess. Have you tried posting this query under the products heading? It might get more replies. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I hope the maker has some info for you. -
Sure does sound like it huh? "Ducks become unnaturally aggressive towards each other and a nuisance to humans. They lose their fear and will cross a busy highway to get to people with potential handouts. They die in greater numbers than most people realize because a dead or dying duck is preyed on before the body is found by humans." Sounds like...

ARCHIVED Extreme Fatigue After Ingesting Gluten?
ravenwoodglass replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yea, it is part of the neurotoxic effect. I up my sublingual B12 and try to sleep as much as I can. Not much else I have ever found to help. I hope you feel better soon. -
How about because we have no choice if we are not rich enough to move. And the people did not reelect this jerk, the politicians did. Computer ballots with no paper trail, hmmmmmmm Medicine in the US is profit driven, there is no profit to diagnosing us because then we don't develop all the autoimmune disease and cancers that keep that profit margin...

ARCHIVED Gluten Guard
ravenwoodglass replied to Worriedwife's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am going to have to check this product out. I would, from personal experience with Pantene, expect it may be correct. I have seemed to have a gluten reaction, hair falling out and rash, when I used this product so I stopped using it even though others have had no problem. My guess would be that this item has Vitamin E in it. That is often wheat derived... -
ARCHIVED Contaminated Rice Protein?
ravenwoodglass replied to Laura's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As if I needed another reason to push for whole, fresh naturally gluten free food. As far as anyone is telling us it is not in the 'people' food supply. As far as we know, now. They used this chemical to artifically raise the protein level of these so that on tests it would appear to contain more protein and thus be sold at a higher price. We may have... -
ARCHIVED Unedible Products
ravenwoodglass replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Doctors in this country are so ......... well you can fill in the blank. You do need to avoid gluten in non food items. If you choose not to, well they make more money cause you'll keep coming back every couple of months to figure out what else is wrong with you -cause your hair is starting to fall out, whoops better test that thyroid, your still exhausted... -
ARCHIVED No Need For Biopsy
ravenwoodglass replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your regular doctor can do this. Most GI doctors don't think of or look for celiac in the US. If you find one who is not going to ask for a challenge and biopsy you have found a real needle in a haystack. If the above are the main concerns IMHO save your money and time, a GI doc isn't going to help you with those. He is proven by bloodwork and dietary... -
ARCHIVED Soy Crisps?
ravenwoodglass replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Noone can tell you anything if you don't give us the name of the product. Your best bet to be safe is to call the company directly. For one thing some of us react to CC and some of us don't. If they are processed on the same line as gluten foods one person may say they are fine and you may be sensitive enough to react to CC and then you really don... -

ARCHIVED Pain In Lower Left, Anyone Else Had That? Questions..
ravenwoodglass replied to wintersky's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, many of us have had that type of pain, myself included. For me the gas and the related pains were gone pretty quickly. During this trial be sure to try and consume mainly fresh, naturally gluten free food. Fruits, veggies, white or wild rice (no mixes), fresh unprocessed meats and fish. Leave the long lists of gluten free mainstream food until you... -
ARCHIVED Communion Wafers!
ravenwoodglass replied to Jess LeGrand's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Nicole, I realize how important that sacrament is to a catholic, I was a very devot one for years. However if I could make a bit of an analogy here, if I sprayed your gluten-free bread with rat poison and then told you that you only needed to eat a bit of it every week would you still eat it? After all it will be years before you have injested enough to... -
If you are in bad financial circumstances talk to the hospital first and then the doctor. In the US no one can be turned away because of lack of ability to pay but they have to know you can't afford it to be able to get it lowered. It does seem like a lot, be thankful they didn't have an anesthesiologist on call to give her the numbing agent or he would...

ARCHIVED Prechopped Fruit Safe?
ravenwoodglass replied to ReneCox's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I used to get my fruit at a small local market, whole and cut up. I also used to get a lot of 'mystery' glutening. Until the day I walked into the back and found the employees standing around the cutting block they use and utilizing it as a 'table' for their gluten filled lunches. I stopped buying my fruit and veggies there and then after having someone... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms Now Showing Since Going gluten-free
ravenwoodglass replied to Nikki Rediker's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"Am I being contaminated and now can feel the effects?" There is a good chance this is exactly what is going on. Are you eating out? Have you checked your toiletries? Have you checked your pet food and litters? Are you an Arts and Crafts person and if so have you checked your glues, clays, paints? Are you eating a lot of mainstream food? Many companys... -

ARCHIVED My Favorite Shampoo Has Wheat Amino Acid

You got it, love the attitude. I still can't believe I got my body and my life back after so many years. It is so worth the adjustment. -
ARCHIVED Lab Work
ravenwoodglass replied to familyfirst's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There is actually a recent article that is on this sites main page. Up to 20% of us will not show up in blood work. I was finally diagnosed by an allergist who guided me through a complete elimination diet. I had negative blood work for years but no doctor had ever suggested or even told me what the diet was. After the allergist, an MD, diagnosed me through... -
ARCHIVED Communion Wafers!
ravenwoodglass replied to Jess LeGrand's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
"In fact it makes people wonder what I have done bad that I don't go up and get the blessing" Perhaps you could go up and get the blessing but not take the wafer. This might be possible if you talk to the priest first. When I was a child I used to think the light headed kind of floating feeling I got from communion was a spiritual effect. I now recognize... -
ARCHIVED Lab Work
ravenwoodglass replied to familyfirst's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It actually appears that 4 of his tests (the ones I made bold) were positive, although of course I could be reading the results and scale on these wrong. The tTg are quite definative for celiac, even with the positive being on the low side. Be aware some doctors will want the person to get sicker so that positive will be a stronger positive but a positive... -
ARCHIVED Why Doesn't My Doctor Know About This ?

ARCHIVED Lab Work
ravenwoodglass replied to familyfirst's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes you can be celiac without all of them being positive. In fact you can be a full blown celiac near death and still have blood tests that come back negative. Have you tried him on the diet? -
Depression was one of the first symptoms everyone in my family had. It is now one of the main 'tells' when we have injested gluten. Obsessive thinking and anxiety show their ugly heads also along with for a short time an almost 'speed' effect when sleeping is next to impossible. All part of that nasty neurotoxic process.

ARCHIVED No Need For Biopsy
ravenwoodglass replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was another one who lived under the MS shadow. I had problems with movement and reflexes since childhood and also what turned out to be ataxia. Except for a couple residual nerve problems I have recovered pretty much fully. It did take awhile and it was a gradual process but after 6 months gluten-free I realized one day that I had run up the stairs without... -
ARCHIVED Spring Might Be Here.....finally!
ravenwoodglass replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Oh I sure do hope so. Although I kind of like seeing my squill and violets blooming against a light spring snow fall I have really had enough for now. I planted my strawberries yesterday so winter had better be done.
