  1. Your best bet to test just gluten would be something like wheat baby cereal or creamof wheat, perhaps triscuts, try for as pure as you can, no yeast etc for trial. I used triscuts.
  2. Hi and thanks for your replies. I know for sure it was not the cheetos, yayyyyy I haven't been able to find out anything about the seeds either but I think I shall wear gloves when I handle them from now on..
  3. Celiac can cause ulcers, it did in both my kids. You can have a false negative on the biopsy and you can also have changes that are really preceliac changes that doctors don't always recognise. Also please be sure to check all the different names for wheat. Spelt is an ancient form of wheat and is not gluten free. Rice is well tolerated but barley and...
  4. This may be something called livedo reticularis, I had it all my life and it got real pronounced when I was at my sickest. For some reason acupuncture would clear the color before I went gluten-free, it kind of amazed the Dr doing it. Now my skin tone is normal (it did take a long time to go away)- unless I get glutened. I theorize that it is a blood vessel...
  5. I would return that brand and look for one that is lactose free. I found the sublingual B12 to be very helpful even before I knew to be gluten-free. You could of course take them for week and watch for a reaction but myself I would do option 1.
  6. Your pain could very well be coming from the kidney stone. Even small ones can be excrutiating. If you are still in a great deal of pain either call your doctor or go to the ER and let them know about the stone that was found. There are ways of dealing with the stones that are not surgical. A urologist would be helpful also. I hope you get relief soon...
  7. Be patient with your system while it is tring to get used to the decrease in your thyroid med. Celiac can mess with our thyroid and you should take this improvement as a sign you are healing. You sound like you may also be getting some gluten or cross contamination from somewhere, check everything and most particularly any meds you may take. Is there anything...
  8. Don't forget to replace your can opener and also to check any 'arts and crafts' they might use. Unless your plates, glasses and pans are chipped or very worn I would not worry about those, with the exception of cast iron and wood. Just wash them real good. Make sure you empty and vacuum out your cupboards and drawers. It's a good thing it's time for spring...
  9. When seeds are very, very tiny they will coat the individual seeds to make them larger and easier to plant. I have no idea what they might use but do know it would have to disolve .
  10. When I did my symptoms even with the rash I got Celiac as the 4th possibility. I wonder why rashes and excess gas were not considered symptoms of celiac? At least it is coming up as a possibility.
  11. Oh how I wish I could have shared that joy. Celiac wasn't considered in my family until I was sick for over 15 years. If diagnosed when I was first ill, instead of being told 'everything was in my head', maybe they would not have labeled my children as depressives, maybe my DD would not have permanent scars from cutting, a direct result of antidepressants...
  12. Does anyone know what they use to pelletize small seeds in packets? I have definately been glutened and am having a hard time figuring out what it was. I eat very little processed foods but have had a few Cheetos in the last couple of days. Nothing else different.
  13. I agree completely with your post, in fact I could have written it. Any long lost relatives in the US ? Anyway, have you ever tried Acupuncture? Even pregluten free it would give me at least a few days relief from the fibro pain. I know what you mean about the pressure points, I always wondered how people could possibly find any kind of massage relaxing...
  14. I think in many respects this is a good idea. I do have a comment on two aspects of this though. First the 'WE NEED A CURE' aspect of this. For one thing there is a 'cure', it is keeping this toxin out of everyones food! Let the people who want to continue eating this poison do so in the form or their baked goods but stop putting it in everything...
  15. Well of course they didn't order the whole panel, after all if they actually diagnosed the all the celiacs in the country they wouldn't have all the millions of dollars we throw to them before diagnosis. Not only that but if we do get an endo and there are changes if the villi isn't totally destroyed most of the time we are told we just have GERD, or IBS...
  16. Mine were slightly elevated at times. My twin however had his liver deteriorating since birth. We have no way to know if this was celiac related as he passed away at 15, at that time his liver had been totally destroyed. Please be aware that you should not drink or take tylenol if your enzymes are elevated. Especially if you are young and still growing...
  17. Thanks so much for posting this. I hope a lot of people check it out.
  18. I use Loreal Casting Colorspa, that's a temp color. I believe the rep also said that Preference is also gluten-free and she mentioned at least 1 other permanent color that they make that is gluten-free, I wish I had written them down but they were very helpful over the phone, they didn't just tell me about the box I had in my hand. They are the only company...
  19. It could be the soy in these. I got a bunch of bars and chips when my health food store got these in. I also get to feeling not too great when I eat this brand. It took awhile to figure out that though this is a nice organic product it is not simple in composition, and after careful examination of the label and my response to it I decided since I can have...
  20. With true pern.ane. the body lacks something called the intrinsic factor, this prevents the stomach and intestines from utilizing the B12 found in food. Celiacs on the other hand do not lack the intrinsic factor but the damage to the intestines prevents the vitamin from being absorbed. Mega oral doses may have some effect but the best oral way to absorb...
  21. You already found the best. I have joined the yahoo group also but rarely go there as I found the board confusing, but then I confuse easily. I post on other mediacal sites and this is where I send everyone for info. Our members are the best.
  22. Also make sure that if she is taking an art class that she either wears gloves, non-powdered, or is extremely careful about washing throughly and not touching her mouth or nose until she does. Many glues, paints, clays and even chalkboard chalk can be a source of contamination at school. Do replace the pots and pans and your toaster, I would not worry about...
  23. I started restricting my total grain intake a couple of months ago. I eat mostly fruit, veggies, meat and fish. I am celiac and also have DH. While the celiac diet cleared up my problems, everything from neuro to GI, I was still getting DH sores and it was almost impossible to get them to totally clear. I always had at least one that was active. They...
  24. I have to agree with Claire, when I was tested for reactions preGF I was allergic to everything they tested for environmental and food. That was when the allergist started to strongly suspect celiac. Your immune system is in overdrive. After you have been gluten-free for a while and are feeling better reintroduce items slowly, the only thing I have proved...
  25. Both my Mom and I were told we had this. Mom got shots monthly for most of her short life. She died of celiac related cancer almost 30 years ago when I was 20. I've been gluten-free over 3 years now, I desperately needed B12 supplementation before diagnosis, however within a year I was able to absorb it fine without using sublingual or shots. Conclusion...
