  1. Open Original Shared Link is located in Corona. I don't know if they do shipments to individuals, but their website has a store finder. Their phone # is 1-800-797-5090.
  2. Ignorance just means you don't know something. No one knows everything so we are all ignorant about many things, which means we all have room to learn and grow.
  3. No offense to anyone, and please do not fling rotten tomatoes at me, but you guys are exhibiting the exact same ignorance about the source of a common food substance as the people that get made fun of for not knowing that flour is made from wheat. Where did you think gelatin came from? The answer is you never thought about it, just as others never thought...
  4. I think dry cleaning by definition is petroleum based rather than water based. Look at the fabric content. I have washed things in cold water without anything going wrong, but it does depend on the fabric.
  5. The entire medical and pharmaceutical industries would need to be totally overhauled?
  6. Smarties are gluten free. Maybe it was something else in them - like maybe one of the colors? (INGREDIENTS: Dextrose, Citric Acid, Calcium Sterate, Artificial Flavors and Colors (FDC Red 40 Lake, Blue 1 Lake, Blue 2 Lake, Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake) Dove dark chocolates are my favorites right now.
  7. The station down the street from me is now $4.29. ACK! Two families from church blew head gaskets this week. One family has 3 drivers and 5 kids so they kinda have to look at another van. Ouch. The other family lives in Jamul (meaningless to those of you not from the San Diego area - but a significant distance away. They also have 3 drivers...
  8. AARGH! The arch-typical boss! It's OK to be sick on your "vacation" but don't miss any work!!! Happy Birthday!
  9. Scotty, I have no biopsy experience, but from what I read, the tissue they extract for examination is literally hit and miss, which means you might have areas of severe damage and have all of them missed. Pretty sad commentary on the gold standard for an official diagnoses, IMO. That's one of the reasons why I am so intrigued by the pill cam, which takes...
  10. This is what I was going to suggest! Include details, photos, and the emotional strain all this has put on you. Send 2 copies to each doctor - one for them to keep, and one to put in your son's file. Don't worry about how many pages it takes - just do it. It will be important documentation, and it will help you to heal. Fiddle-Faddle is right...
  11. Isn't it amazing who ends up together in life? My mother, who I swear would get sea sick on a water bed, married my dad who was half Norwegian and had salt water in his veins! Being an aerospace engineer, he moved us from the Montana prairie to Seattle to work for Boeing. He loved it the Puget Sound area. All 3 of us kids loved it. My mom thought otherwise...
  12. Are you required to go? Remind your boss that if this is a requirement, they have to pay you! Are the tickets just all together in a section, or in one of the private boxes. In the private boxes, they may be able to accommodate your needs. If you are all together in a section, crawling over each other and spilling things, yeah, it would be a lot...
  13. Lecithin is a fatty substance. Gluten is a protein. There is no gluten in soy, but many people who cannot tolerate gluten cannot tolerate soy, either. I know that many people who are allergic to soy are allergic to the soy protein and can actually eat products that contain soy lecithin. If you suspect you may have issues with soy, you should probably...
  14. You poor thing - you have so many problems! Prayers for you and hope you feel better soon!
  15. Hi, Ericka There are lots of people here who do not have an official diagnosis, including me. I just know what happens when I eat anything containing gluten and although it is not drastic, it is not pretty, either! I do also have a blood relative with a confirmed celiac diagnosis. Ursa is right. It is nobody's business what you eat or do not...
  16. Invite your "friends" to this forum to read for an hour. That way they can see just how sick people get and that you have very good reasons for needing to keep your home gluten free. If they are still unsupportive, then maybe they are not such good friends after all. (ouch) Is there a R.O.C.K. group in your area? For what it's worth, I...
  17. I have heard of this happening with Crocs. Apparently the appeal of Crocs is also the problem. They are soft and pliable and when warm (as they are when being worn) they mold to the shape of the foot, giving the "perfect fit." For whatever reason kids have been known to put their feet up against the side of the escalator and literally scrape their shoe...
  18. You might try buying an inexpensive pair of reading glasses or a magnifying glass or some such and keep it in the glove box of your car. That way you would only have to retreat to the parking lot and not all the way home! Anyway, I know what you mean by the labels. I am still OK with the ones that are black print on white or light background, but...
  19. If your daughter is going to toast gluten-free anything, she cannot use a toaster that has ever toasted regular gluten-containing bread. So, yes, she needs her own toaster. It doesn't matter if it is a regular toaster or a toaster oven, but it needs to be dedicated to gluten-free foods.
  20. I agree with the above posts. With few exceptions, stay out of the center aisles of the grocery store and just shop around the edges where the fresh and frozen foods are. Buy meats and veggies fresh or frozen. Do you have a Farmer's Market? Get good deals there. Our ancestors ate what was in season because it was available. You eat what is in season...
  21. Look at those two statements from your opening post and make your choice.
  22. Thank you! I knew you would have the answer! I have not been diagnosed as celiac, but I have a blood relative with a confirmed diagnosis, and I do not tolerate gluten well at all. Therefore I probably am and it sounds like I should stick with the GlutenEase.
  23. Good for your mom! If your brother has celiac, it must run in your family. Look at your aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc. Are they healthy? My guess is many of them have a lot of health problems. It seems like gluten can cause almost any symptom, so even if it seems totally illogical, there is a good chance your relatives' problems are...
  24. In a couple of other threads, Rachel--24 has mentioned that a product called Peptizyde has helped her a lot. She specifically mentioned one ingredient called DPPIV. I have a bottle of GlutenEase, which I take as needed. I believe it does make me feel better if cc has been an issue, or even if something is bothering me but I don't know what. Here are...
