    I keep wanting to say this to so many with ignorant uncaring doctors. Ask your physician if it's so normal, is that how life is for him/her? If not would he/she care to trade places with you? HMMMMMMMMMMM? Just a guess but probably not.

    Hi, Sarah, and thank you for the explanation. It does make sense. However, when it comes to choosing between a plate of brownies and half a tank of gas in order to get to work or get the kids to school, I'm afraid the gas wins every time.

    Good for him! Very well written. Let me suggest that you print out copies (making sure to show that it was a published letter) and mail them to all the clueless doctors with explicit instructions that it is to be included in his file!

    I have this problem when the weather gets hot. My solution is to drink more water, walk as much as possible, and elevate my feet at night. As I only have the problem in hot weather, I'm not sure whether I should blame salt or gluten. Or the weather!

    There is always the possibility that the customer whose bra you are fitting could be wearing gluteny lotions, make-up or contaminated clothes. You might want to wash up after each customer as a precaution . . . .

    Other than the soft drink handles or rest room doors or faucets that I mentioned above, I don't know. I guess that until every person on the planet has acquired internet experience, there will always be newbies as potential targets/victims.     I can *SO* relate to this issue! I am working on other employees as to what they eat and where, and they are much better at washing their hands after eating. If I had any control over customers there would be no food eaten in the store. Yes customers get gluten on *ALL* of the merchandise.     I was just going to post this! I never tried it because the description reminded me of Alka-Seltzer which I detest. My daughter tried it once and said it tasted "gross." (It didn't work for her, either.)

    Brown rice and rice bran cause problems for me. Minute Rice is fine. I don't know about tapioca yet.

    The rule of good manners is to never make the other person feel uncomfortable. I believe you handled the situation well. Of course if at any time should his behavior change so as to compromise your safety, then a very discreet statement mentioning an "allergy" (what most people could relate to) would hopefully rein him in.
