  1. I see no reason for not testing your children. This is their health. If I had not been diagnosed my brother and mother would not have been either. It is better to know and live healthy than ignore what might be and let problems occur.
  2. Happy birthday!
  3. If done right, you can be a healthy vegetarian Celiac. I haven't had meat in years and have been a vegan for over a year, too. I work out a lot, do yoga, bike, walk, and run.
  4. Chemicals and chemical imbalances can affect you in those ways. Maybe you should see a doctor and a therapist to get your chemicals and mind in check. If you do not like the ones you see, go to another, until you feel comfortable.
  5. I graduated in July but never had to deal with food at college since we didn't have to have a meal plan. I did have to have one during my Summer Study Abroad. The Administration said they would try to see that I had food but the real help was the staff at the colegio. They were the ones who ensured the food was there and all. I think when it comes down...
  6. a little side not: a personal chef used to come to our Celiac dinner groups meetings becuase she was learning how to cate gluten-free clients. So, there is a need sometimes in the personal chef are for a gluten-free chef. I would assume the same for vegetarian/vegan. Good luck!
  7. You should be able to print an unofficial transcript off of your student site (you know where you have all of your information) and also request one from there. It takes a few days to get an official one and they mail it to the people or give it to you in a sealed envelope. I have never heard of an official transcript being faxed (since it wouldn't be sealed...
  8. Isomalt is a sweetener and does not contain malt. It is gluten-free.
  9. Looks yummie, how do they taste?
  10. I always bring some food for me to eat, that everyone else will like, when I go to potlucks and I also eat some ahead of time. Some advice would be to get a good portion of the food you brought before anyone else touches it, so you do not get cross-contaminated later after everyone has been in it. If it is a potluck or dinner where I cannot bring something...
  11. I did finish puberty and all but stopped growing height-wise at age 12. The advice about a different hormone level in your birth control sounds like a good idea. Good luck!
  12. It depends on where you get them. In Baltimore there is at least one spot that makes Utz fresh in the market while others are made at the factory (you can go on tours). I love them and eat them whenever I am in Maryland. Sometimes, my family orders them for gifts. We are 3 out of 4 Celiacs and do fine.
  13. I find that a bread machine yields better loaves. It might be something to think about.
  14. Hello, I am a vegan Celiac. My boyfriend and I make lots of stir fry, tofu (great when cooked right), crock pot recipes, stuffed peppers, veggies burgers, pizza, cookies, and I bake my bread. Open Original Shared Link is a site for veggie Celiacs. What types of recipes are you looking for? Pizza: We use: Arrowhead Mills to make the crust Ragu for...
  15. If I am going somewhere that I know I can't eat out, I pack a suitcase of food. I like Thai Kitchen products and others that just require hot water and a microwave. I know some people take a hot plate with them when they travel but I have never done it. Cereal, bars, crackers, and such. I usually go to local markets, too, and pick up fresh fruit that...
  16. It is a big learning process for the men in our lives. They should be there for us when we are sick or healthy. Now, this doesn't mean our men have to give up their food but they should be understanding, as should we. I do not hesitate picking up a regular pizza or take out for my boyfriend when he has had a long day and is coming home late. He does not...
  17. How AWESOME! I used to live on 18 Mile few years ago, good to know there is this place if I come back to visit!
  18. Monday is the last day in GA. If you do advance voting they can register you and you can vote at the same time in some areas but that deadline is Monday, too. WOO!
  19. I know Veg News has gluten-free mentions and/or recipes every month. I'll have to check out Vegetarian Times (I'm a vegan)!
  20. Take time to relax and figure out what works best for you. I traveled the world and brought food with me that I could easily and lightly carry (gluten, dairy, animal-free) and did research on where I could eat out. . .even if it is simple and plain. I have dated lots and now am in a serious relationship with someone who understands, there is no point to...
  21. I have my bracelet with my drug allergies listed and when they call it says Celiac Disease but I did not want it engraved.
  22. I use it just fine and love it. I rather like flax seed but some of my family do not like the taste, so, Ener-G wins out!
  23. Cool.
