  1. I checked a NatureMade multivitamin for men bottle and it has 100% RDA of molebdenynum in it. I imagine it is in other multivitamins also? It is certainly one I never thought about though. Thanks for posting about it Shauna!
  2. I agree with the idea of doing a simpler diet for a while. Actually for life is not a bad idea IMHO. Regarding corn and potatoes, it seems like you could just wash the potatoes and get rid of anything on the outside. It's a good idea to wash fruits and veggies from the store anyway before cooking them. It may not be corn on the potatoes you are reacting...
  3. Maybe lyme disease? It certainly is possible from tick bites in the woods. I don't know if the periodic symtoms fit it though. There are some threads on lyme disease on this board for info.
  4. Hi Alan, Your nutritionist is off the mark. He/she should read up on "silent celiac". Silent celiac is when a person tests positive for celiac but has no symptoms. None, nada. You actually had symptoms so you are not in the silent category. You might develop more serious symptoms if you continued to eat gluten. There are some people who post on this...
  5. Soy and nightshades cause me joint pain. So, even if it isn't gluten, maybe it is time to look at other foods that could cause issues. Low thyroid hormone can cause joint pain also.
  6. Ha ha Karen, maybe I could find some dehydrated avocados to send. I don't think real guacamole would make the trip very well. Turns all brown ya know! Just saying though some snacks are easy to make with not much cost or effort. And much better for you than store bought versions with all the preservatives and food colors and such added. This...
  7. Sounds like a meeting not to miss! Thanks for posting this Mike!
  8. How about quinoa and eggs? Avocados?
  9. I like home made guacamole for snack. Or peanuts. Or you can make peanut brittle in a microwave pretty easy. Does Sainsbury have gift cards? That might be simpler than mailing things over the pond. Open Original Shared Link
  10. Well, she made some good points too. Like eating mostly whole foods. She did boo-boo on the statement about having to have digestive symptoms to have celiac disease. Silent celiac would not exist if she were right. And the starting the diet before seeing the doctor for tests is not good advice generally. I hope anyone watching a program like this with...
  11. You could write down all the ingredients of the food items you ate and maybe something will stick out after a while. Most canned tuna and most mayo have soy in them. That is at least one possible common ingredient that is a top 8 allergen.
  12. Ha ha, I never rated a topic either and I have been here longer than you. I have rated posts in a thread though, that is pretty easy. Just click the little '"+" plus sign in the top right corner of the post . Or the "-" minus sign if you want to negatory it. Actually the rate topic option is right above the rate post plus and minus option. Just choose...
  13. Interesting article Simona. Aren't the doctor's brilliant though? They give you a medicine for your head and are surprised when it affects your stomach. Even though to get it to your head it has to go through your stomach. I think it just shows how little we really understand these things. Our bodies are a miracle of design and we are just scratching...
  14. Hi Barry, If you are new to the gluten-free diet your digestive system is probably going through a lot of changes right now. All the bacteria (millions of the) that live in your digestive system are being fed a new diet of gluten free food. Some of them like that a lot and others don't like it at all. There are good and bad bacteria and they can get...
  15. Good idea SA. Loch, Kinickinick makes gluten-free pizza crusts. You can find them in the freezer section of stores.
  16. Could it be you have an ulcer?
  17. Link to an article posted by Scott. I posted just a snippet of the article. Something to think about I figure. celiac com thread: Why Liver Problems Require a Look at Celiac Disease - LiverSupport.com Liver Support com article: Open Original Shared Link February 9th, 2012 Due to an apparent link between the two ailments, those with...

  19. Dropping dairy and soy, and oats for a while maybe helpful. Also taking pro-biotics and avoiding sugar and processed foods. Eating a simple whole foods diet is easier for your body to handle. It can take some time for your gut flora to re-balance and your digestive system to adapt. Avoiding caffeine may help also.
  20. Hi, welcome to the board. you might want to read up on dermatitis herpetiformis on this site. It is an auto-immune skin condition that some people with celiac get. It often flares when people eat gluten. If you do have DH, they would test for it by taking a biopsy of the skin next to a lesion. There are certainly some symptoms you describe that fit...
  21. I've seen plenty of teas with soy, and a few with barley. You really need to read the labels on them just like with any food item. The ones with extra flavors added are the ones to watch out for.
  22. Very interesting. The article is a summation of 10 years research on the affects of alcohol, and cites various studies done over that time. Some of the negative affects listed were not particular to alcoholics, but one time consumption affects. It didn't say anything about those possible one time affects causing irreparable damage though. I think one...
  23. Got it, robots have gluten but bananas are safe. Just need a reference now...probably one in Time Bandits or Hitchhikers Gide to the Galaxy somewhere. How could anyone get mis-information on a great site like this? Good to hear you are sticking around Josh. The perspective of newer members is sometimes different and can be very helpful to keep...
  24. @Katie, Hi Katie, It's nice to have a first hand confirmation eh? Your body knows what it doesn't like, and it sure let you know too. My reactions seemed more noticeable after I had been gluten-free for a while. A few crumbs seemed silly worry about for to me at first but then I found out they do matter. Yep, label reading is an easy thing to...
  25. OK, so I sort of resolved this terrible dilemma. Shroomie, I don't think you are missing anything. I went to my profile page and then clicked settings. On the left side bar I choose notifications settings and then deleted the notifications one at a time. Kind of a slow process but it did work Now I have no more unread notifications. Even though I had...
