  1. Hello @gf_kitchen, and welcome to the forum. Is it possible you have a corn intolerance or corn allergy? I ask because Barilla is probably the largest gluten-free pasta manufacturer in the world, and their product is made in a dedicated gluten-free facility, so it's very doubtful that it would contain any gluten.
  2. Was your reaction different than you have with gluten? Nut allergies are very common, as you probably know, but an allergic reaction is very different than the reaction that a person with celiac disease has with gluten, which is an autoimmune reaction. If the reaction was more like a gluten reaction, I wonder if it's possible that you got some gluten in your...
  3. Celiac.com 06/12/2021 - We've been eating more fish lately, and that means we've been looking for nice side dishes to round out the meals. This recipe for English style mushy peas caught our eye, and has become a regular when we make our...
  4. We summarized this research as well, and it certainly means that better tests need to be developed:
  5. The pain I had was primarily in the middle-right area of my abdomen. How long have you been gluten-free, and is any gluten getting into your diet? Have you tried eliminating other things like cow's milk?
  6. Interesting article, and I've seen other studies on too clean environments. The takeaway from this one is "Ultra-sterile living conditions may contribute to common astronaut illnesses, including gut, skin, and immune-system problems." Let your kids play in the dirt!
  7. I was referring to a possible risk factor for celiac disease based on elevated vitamin D levels:
  8. Hoisin sauce is used in some Chinese and South East Asian recipes, and some may be gluten-free, but not this one! Besides soy sauce, beware of oyster sauce and hoisin sauce, as some contain gluten.
  9. Welcome to the forum! I do think it would be worth getting a blood test for celiac disease in this case, and agree with @trents that many people have few noticeable symptoms. Have you had your iron and vitamin D levels checked? Low levels are another possible symptom that lead many to a diagnosis (as well as fat in stool). You would need to keep...
  10. Celiac.com 06/11/2021 - I'm a big believer in soups that feature rice and vegetables. This French Spring soup is a delightful marriage of fresh spring vegetables, butter, cream, and rice, that will help put a spring in your step, and a...
  11. One thing that seems to pop up here over and over is casein/dairy intolerance. Have you tried going dairy-free for a while to see if it helps?
  12. Welcome to the forum! We have a huge recipe section here: /celiac-disease/gluten-free-recipes/ As well as a dedicated topic in our forum: https://www.celiac.com/forums/forum/27-gluten-free-recipes-cooking-tips/
  13. I do find it interesting that there may be a correlation with vitamin D3 supplementation and rates of celiac disease, and it's certainly worthy of more studies. If there is an association it would be important find out. I've always wondered if certain vitamin deficiencies could trigger celiac disease. @Posterboy has posted a lot about various vitamin and...
  14. This is an interesting question, and this site indicates that sterols can be made from "wheat bran and wheat germ," so they could possibly contain gluten. https://www.healthline.com/health/high-cholesterol/statins-vs-plant-sterols#plant-sterols
  15. This article talks about scalloping: "The characteristic appearance of the surface of the small intestine in celiac disease includes superficial ulcerations that are commonly linear, flattening of the folds, notching or scalloping of the folds and a mosaic-like pattern. However, the surface may appear normal and only under microscopic examination of...
  16. If you are doing an endoscopy to confirm diagnosis of celiac disease you need to eat 1-2 sliced of wheat bread daily for at least 2 weeks before the test, otherwise you could get false negative results.
  17. I'm sorry to hear about how bad you're feeling, but welcome to the forum! Do you happen to have the positive cut off marker for your TtG test? Yours does sound very high, and many doctors are now diagnosing celiac disease on blood tests alone, if they reach 10x the cut off for a positive celiac test. In any case, at least you found your answer and can...
  18. I seriously doubt your diagnosis was incorrect, but I have seen many people later question their original diagnosis, do a gluten challenge, only to find that they really do have an issue with gluten.
  19. Celiac.com 06/09/2021 - Distilled from corn, Tito's vodka is gluten-free from start to finish. Just in time for summer, here are seven great gluten-free cocktails made with Tito's Handmade Vodka. Tito's Gluten-Free Bloody Mary Ingredients...
  20. @JoelW1lls I forgot your specific circumstances, but if you've been diagnosed with celiac disease, or have non-celiac gluten sensitivity, these are considered to be lifelong conditions which require a gluten-free diet, so it would not be a good idea to add gluten back into your diet ever.
  21. You have a high TTG result, which is normally interpreted as probable celiac disease. For the doctor to toss this out and ignore it because you may not have vitamin or mineral deficiencies yet is a bad idea. To me, you've caught this early, before it has reached a more serious stage, but you really don't even know this yet, as you haven't had a biopsy. I...
  22. It's possible, but not likely, especially if you also had a positive blood test for celiac disease.
