  1. Celiac.com 06/05/2021 - We get a lot of questions from celiac community members wondering if certain products are gluten-free. One question we see a lot is about beers. Specifically, is Coors Light gluten-free and safe for people...
  2. Yes I agree, it sounds to me like you’ve already figured out that you are at least gluten sensitive with possible celiac disease. There is no test yet for gluten sensitivity, so even if you did do a gluten challenge and get re-tested, it may not give you a definitive answer.
  3. Yes you should definitely get tested. Studies have shown that up to 44% of direct relatives of people with celiac disease also have it. Be sure to keep eating gluten daily until you were tested otherwise the results could be false negative.
  4. Celiac.com 06/04/2021 - In some places rhubarb grows like a weed. And for those lucky enough to know what to do with it, that can mean a whole world of delicious dessert possibilities. If you're looking for a twist on apple crisp, then...
  5. Welcome to the forum @CeliMomi. I see 3 red flags with these results: 1) The very high positive for her Deamidated gluten antibody (DMG) test, which is very specific for celiac disease; 2) The high white blood cell count can indicate an autoimmune reaction is taking place; 3) Her low iron and very low iron saturation are a very common symptom...
  6. I am pretty sure that the ACA has insurance options for those with low income. Check out this site: Open Original Shared Link
  7. If you are positive for both, as I am, you likely got one from each parent, and some experts think going gluten-free would be a wise choice (Roger Deutsch, the owner of the company that does ALCAT food sensitivity testing believes that everyone with both DQ2 and DQ8 markers should be gluten-free.) At the very least you should get a blood panel done for...
  8. At the time of my diagnosis I was also diagnosed with h pylori, and I’ve heard this happening to others as well. After I went gluten-free this cleared up as well. It’s too bad they didn’t do a biopsy, as you can have a ulcer AND celiac disease. Feel free to share your blood tests if you can, but no matter what it could be time to try a gluten-free diet ...
  9. McCormick's and Spicely are gluten-free, but check the labels.
  10. Celiac.com 06/03/2021 - With autoimmune conditions on the rise, and concerns about inflammatory conditions growing, more and more people are looking for dietary alternatives to promote immune health and fight inflammation, especially for...
  11. That is an interesting discovery, and thanks for sharing it! I would imagine that anyone having a DH flare will be happy to discover the BenGay approach.
  12. Nice, and their reply gives us a bit more info about this.
  13. It sounds like you don't wish to eat gluten for 8 weeks to get tested for celiac disease, but have symptoms of gluten sensitivity. It also sounds like your diet may not be 100% gluten-free, and whether you have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, your diet needs to be 100% gluten-free. Here is an older article on geographic tongue, and how it might...
  14. Welcome to the forum! Did you eat gluten daily for 6-8 weeks before your blood tests? I ask because if you didn't then the test results might be a false negative. Regarding weight gain, if you lost a lot of weight due to celiac disease, and then went gluten-free, there is a good chance that you will gain it back as your gut heals. Some people who...
  15. The gluten-free diet alone may not fix all of your symptoms, and the first step for you would be to re-check your diet to make sure that it is 100% gluten-free, this includes medications, supplements, cosmetics, lotions, etc. If you eat outside your home, for example in restaurants, that is a very common source of contamination. The next step would be...
  16. Celiac.com 06/02/2021 - Under the FDA’s 2013 Rule on Gluten-Free Labeling of Fermented or Hydrolyzed Foods, wheat starch is considered “an ingredient processed to remove gluten.” Wheat starch is an allowed ingredient in foods labeled glute...
  17. Possibly, as diarrhea and loose stools are definitely symptoms, however, many celiacs have little to no symptoms.
  18. Guest Laura, you need to back this comment up, as I've never heard before of rennet as a source of gluten. If this were true it would cause nearly all cheeses to not be gluten-free. There is no known reason to add gluten to cheese, and in fact doing so would likely ruin the cheese.
  19. PS - I think it goes without saying that it might be a good time to discuss the possible use of statins with your doctor, as they can slow down, and possibly decrease plaque in arteries.
  20. Welcome to the forum! Have you tried taking magnesium citrate (I use the Nature Made brand available at Costco)? I ask because when I began taking it I noticed that it definitely relieved constipation. Drinking coffee also helps. Also, if you are getting too much fiber, too little fiber, or not the enough of the right type of fiber, can cause issues...
  21. This is the source which indicated that in Canada, Bud Light Selzer may contain malt. We included this info in our article as a precaution: Open Original Shared Link
