  1. Celiac.com 07/01/2021 - We get a lot of questions from celiac community members wondering about various aspects of celiac disease. One question we see a lot is about how genetic makeup influences the odds of developing celiac disease....
  2. Welcome to the forum! If you strongly suspect celiac disease, then you should know that to be tested for it you need to be eating gluten daily for at least 6-8 weeks before taking a blood test for it. I recommend that you get tested before going gluten-free. You may also need to do an endoscopy to confirm the diagnosis, and it's recommended that you keep...
  3. If they used wheat in any way they would need to include this as an allergen on the ingredient label. The only ingredients are "dates": https://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-Pitted-Deglet-Noor-Dates-8-oz/578393789
  4. Did you try Barilla gluten-free pasta? Most people can't tell it's gluten-free. There are many types of gluten-free products, and it can take a while to navigate them all and find ones that meet your standards in both nutrition, taste, texture, etc.
  5. Welcome to the forum. It's doubtful that paper napkins would contain any gluten, but I suppose it's not impossible. You would likely need to contact the maker of the napkins to find out. In the 25+ years of running this site I've never heard that paper napkins could be a concern for those with celiac disease.
  6. This is great to hear, and I did not know this about prescriptions in the UK. I hope the USA can finally deal with this and disclose gluten on prescription meds.
  7. Casein intolerance I believe can, in rare cases, cause villi damage, but it's not very common. I'd like to see more research on this though. I I think you're probably correct, and the long recovery time may be due to your initial really high antibody levels. If they don't go down further consider the casein possibility.
  8. I think it has only happened a couple of time before over the last 20 years, so it is a bit unusual.
  9. Thanks for the update! On one had, you are lucky not to have noticeable symptoms, and it's great to hear that you are still vigilant about your gluten-free diet, but as you may know your health risks are the same as those who are symptomatic, and unfortunately many in your shoes don't take the diet as seriously when they are asymptomatic. 900 tTG is...
  10. My most recent test showed my Hematocrit at 43, so no need to donate blood this time, which is the 2nd time in a row it was lower than normal. My RBC was still high at over 18%.
  11. Celiac.com 06/30/2021 - We get a lot of questions from celiac community members wondering if certain products are gluten-free. One question we see a lot is about bacon. Specifically, what brands of bacon are gluten-free and safe for people...
  12. So 5-6g of sugar per serving would be misleading. They are made mostly of rice, which is a starch that almost instantly gets converted to sugar when you eat it, so the glycemic impact of this is much greater than just the added sugar. I've heard that eating white rice will spike your blood sugar faster than eating table sugar. I'm not sure if this statement...
  13. Celiac.com 06/29/2021 - A scientist has been awarded nearly $2 million to study how venom from parasitic worms, called nematodes, allows them to live undetected in our bodies. He hopes it can lead to new treatments for celiac, and other...
  14. Welcome to the forum. Eating high carb cereals that contain lots of sugar can also cause a variety of gastro issues, so perhaps this is the source of your discomfort? Chex have been considered to be gluten-free for years, and they've never had a product recall. Anything is possible with regard to having bad luck and getting a box that was somehow...
  15. I'm sorry to hear you got glutened. This article may be helpful:
  16. Welcome to the forum @Joanie1! Wow, Feb 2020 for the bad cruise ship virus. Any chance it was covid-19? I ask because this article just went live on our site today:

  18. Celiac.com 06/28/2021 - There is a growing body of data to suggest the intestinal action of SARS-CoV-2, with ciliated cells and intestinal enterocytes serving as target cells, due to high expression of ACE2 and TMPRSS2, could possibly...
  19. Welcome to the forum. For me it wasn't until I began taking magnesium citrate and bonfotimine (fat soluble thiamine) that some of my tingling and neurological issues improved (after 25 years!), so do pursue possible vitamin/mineral deficiencies as @cristiana mentioned. Interestingly B1 isn't one of the common deficiencies mentioned with celiac disease, but...
