ARCHIVED I Swear I Have Celiac Disease...but....
Ahorsesoul replied to ktnhsv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's called withdrawal. You can do this! You have improved so much just keep going. You already have your answer you were looking for in your first post. Remember going gluten free does not mean you have to buy expensive foods. Meat, veggies and fruits are all gluten free. It's the processed items that have gluten in them. Now how many of your kids... -
ARCHIVED Udi's Bread
Ahorsesoul replied to DMarie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
How long does it last? Not long around here, we eat it pretty fast. No problem eating it without warming or toasting, very unbelievable but true. I am not a bread lover so for me to say a bread it good isn't because I just love any bread. I never like bread as a kid. Now that I'm gluten free and have found Udi's I've eaten more bread than I ever did. I... -
ARCHIVED How To Get A Partner To Understand And Support?
Ahorsesoul replied to Quasior's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Julie, Doesn't it all boil down to are you going to let your partner continue to force your children to be sick? If your partner wants to wait until they have been tested he can fork out the money to do so. Dear partner can work an extra job for a few month to get the extra money. This is his problem. Might be hard but being sick is harder for kids. Are... -
Maybe he is using this celiac problem as an excuse. This is a health issue so your other half should be supporting. Too bad it's not easy. It's certainly not easy for you either.

ARCHIVED Plz Post Your Christmas Dinner Ideas
Ahorsesoul replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We have Prime Rib for Christmas eve which is when we celebrate. Prime rib was on sale a week ago so I have it in the freezer. We relax on Christmas day with leftovers. Prime Rib with Spiced Coffee Rub (done on the grill or in the smoker if weather permitting, for some reason when it's 10 below the grill or smoker just doesn't seem to work well) Caramelized... -

ARCHIVED Bread Making Troubles
Ahorsesoul replied to DMarie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This weekend all six loaves of my Banana bread dipped in the middle also. -
You might try adding potassium as a supplement or eat a banana daily. Mayo clinic doctor (not celiac related) told one of my family member to take a Benadryl every night for a few days and it might help leg cramps. This might work for your muscle problems. Wouldn't hurt to try. I use to have some muscle twitches. I couldn't say if it was going gluten...

ARCHIVED Udi's Bread
Ahorsesoul replied to DMarie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Run, do not walk to the nearest store with Udi's bread. There's a Udi's fan club here. I wouldn't have tried it if I hadn't read about it on this site. I haven't decided if I like the white or whole grain the best. It the closest to real bread that I've found so far. It made the best stuffing at Thanksgiving. It's priceless if you're starving for a sandwich... -
ARCHIVED Any Chance Their Is Gluten In :
Ahorsesoul replied to SLB5757's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Your intestines need time to heal. Cut out all gluten (forever), dairy and soy should be avoided for several months until you are healed. Then you can start adding them back to your diet. -
ARCHIVED I Just Tasted Udi's Bread!

Oh yea, obsessed it a great description for how I feel about Udi bread. I have 2 slices left in the refrig and one loaf in the freezer. I'm getting nervous being so low on Udi bread. I like both the white and whole grain. Which ever one I have in my hand in my favorite. -
ARCHIVED Why Is This Such A Popular Condition For People To Self Diagnose With?
Ahorsesoul replied to silvertail's topic in Publications & Publicity
Call this place and explain your situation. Some places will see patients at very reduced rates or put you into a research group so you can be seen. It doesn't hurt to ask, the worst they could say is they won't see you. -
ARCHIVED How Long Before You Start To Feel Better
Ahorsesoul replied to New-To-This's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Time for a food journal (keep track of food and brand name and ingredients put into the meal, all condiments also). It sounds like he's getting something with gluten. Maybe a soda or something no one would even consider has gluten in it. Or it might be cross contamination from a pan, cutting board or plastic ware. -

ARCHIVED Navigating The Holidays
Ahorsesoul replied to Cessairskye's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
People do not understand celiac disease. Since it's a diet that is the treatment, most think you can 'cheat' a little. Tell people you are highly allergic to gluten might sink in a little more but do not trust someone else's cooking. Friend of mine made Chicken Soup with rice. She made it because she knew I couldn't have gluten. She said she was really... -
ARCHIVED How To Clean Gluten Contamination.
Ahorsesoul replied to jackay's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Relax. You will be fine. To get your house cleaned without wearing yourself out, try flylady's method. I started her method to prove her wrong. No one can keep them house clean by cleaning only 15 a day. Sure am glad I was wrong. It will not happen over night but if you continue you house will shine. Start slowly it will all come together and you will... -
