  1. Hard to explain in a post....as I researched many elimination diets online for quiet some time to combine all their advise into something specific for the research I completed. I'll be happy to send you the excel document that contains my personal food log...info for tracking challenges...some links for part of my research, etc.
  2. I have family in Kingston/Hurley/Woodstock -- my cousin works in a snow sports store every winter -- she made it to our mountain with us one year...unfortunately it was the last days of the season and the snow was crud. How long did you live in Heaven? We've skied all of California and Utah...but still need to do Colorado and BC!!! We live in San Diego...
  3. The doctors you have been in contact with may be done...but you can find the solution. Time to network, here...Celiac Foundation....UOC -- University of Chicago has some excellent resources as do other teaching hospitals -- holistic, etc. Hang in there...the fight seems overwhelming and unfair...but well worth it if you can improve your child's health and...
  4. Wow...very tough road...but good that there is a winning plan. You are in our family's prayers tonight and in the days to come...keep posting...so important for the rest of us to hear your story -- more important for us to support you and your family too!
  5. Thanks everyone! So nice to finally find good health...hope everyone on this forum finds their way to same. Happy Friday...oh it's only Thursday...correction -- Happy three day weekend!

  7. Good Morning All- Three months ago I could not get out of bed for more than an hour per day (had been gluten free for over two years but continued to get sicker and sicker)....you can read my other posts for more back story. Today I am writing as a healthy, active, energetic, thankful woman. On August 10th I began an elimination diet geared...
  8. Good Morning- You sound very similar to me. I don't have time to post history right now, but if you search my posts it will give you a good picture. I started elimination diet on August 10 -- at the time I couldn't even get out of bed. It WORKED -- I am two months into challenges and finding the things that were causing problems AND I feel better...
  9. I had many allergy and antibody tests over the years - both blood and patch tests - the ONLY test that was ever positive was my tTG IgA which came back only mildly positive at age 43. I had been gluten-free for over two years when I recently eliminated all grains, dairy, legumes, nightshades, nuts, eggs and citrus. I am currently challenging food items...
  10. One month after eliminating all grains, dairy, legumes, nuts, nightshades, eggs, bananas and citrus - I feel very good. Have begun challenging removed foods - one at a time every three days. The score thus far is 2-2 = wins are eggs (never thought I'd do a happy dance for an egg) and pineapple (ribs marinating as I type) - losses are red bell pepper (within...
  11. When first diagnosed I tried a lot of the rice and tapioca gluten-free breads and they all tasted like drywall to me so I used lettuce and cabbage for wraps until we started making bread, first in the oven, then a bread maker. Eventually our kitchen went completely gluten free and trying to keep up with bread making for the whole family became too big a...
  12. First, Welcome to celiac.com! It is the best possible resource for the newly diagnosed, as well as veteran Celiac or Gluten Intolerant. Second, You are mostly definitely not alone with your frustration, anger and fear. I was diagnosed at 43. I started going to doctors with mild versions of the same symptoms I was diagnosed from when I was 19 years...
  13. We pack lunches to go every day as it is tough to run in a store and throw a quick lunch together - especially for the newly diagnosed. I recall a few tears threatening to fall during those early shopping missions. We usually eat left overs from dinner; sandwiches on Udi's Bread (when first diagnosed I couldn't imagine spending so much on bread, so I used...
  14. Mine was 16 when diagnosed two years ago...it improved to 38 at a year gluten free with supplementation - thanks for the reminder that it's time to get it checked again
  15. I remain unclear on the less than 20ppm section of the proposed labeling guidelines, but am glad that there will be required labeling for gluten by the end of 2012. For no other reason than to make manufacturers aware of how harmful gluten can be to many of us. Thanks for the info thleensd!
  16. I too am extremely sensitive, having had severe reactions to minute amounts of gluten cc. How does one know what a safe minimum is? What would be an example of 20ppm or less? Thanks!
  17. I received the email below from the Celiac Disease Foundation asking for anyone interested to add their name to a letter to the FDA with regard to proposed gluten-free labeling. Not sure if this has already been posted, but I thought I'd share. Below please find the link for the letter to the FDA along with the email I received: Open Original Shared...
  18. Ravenwoodglass's answer is perfect - great advice - just wanted to add that anxiety/depression can be symptoms of Celiac Disease.
  19. You are absolutely right - I've had the there is nothing physically wrong with you, so it must be mental look from doctors so many times over the years I don't think I count them. I think my thought this morning was more along the lines of docs starting (and I mean only starting) to understand that celiac isn't just a childhood illness anymore
  20. Just wanted to mention something - Since removing gluten I've tried removing varies food items, both singularly and in groups until I was very frustrated and had little to no improvement. The elimination diet I'm on seemed very difficult, but with the improvements I've had in the past five days I wish I would have known to try it years ago! Right now I...
  21. I used to love Chili - until I went gluten-free and it caused stomach upset - guess my gut was trying to tell me something about other lectins - my brain just took a bit longer to figure it out! This diet is extreme, but I woke up this morning (day 5) ready to get out bed and start doing things for the first time in over a year!
  22. I've got some similarity to you. I was dx'd celiac two years ago, went gluten free - had some improvement - especially digestive, but muscle/joint pain, brain fog, sleep problems have gotten steadily worse. The past few months I've had about an hour of functional time each day and my digestive problems have returned even though we are 99.999999% gluten...
  23. I'm not familiar with Glutenease - maybe some others have used it?
  24. Mushroom- Thank you so much for sharing - it is very encouraging to hear that you have been able to add a few things back carefully after a year. Today - Day 4 - I feel like I'm coming out of a year long sleepwalk! I rode my bike and cleaned my kitchen - can't tell you how bad our house got over the past several months. Trying not to get too excited...
  25. I have had some problems similar to yours. When I went gluten-free I improved slowly and still had some digestive issues - I tried removing dairy and nightshades with no improvement. From 6-14 months gluten-free I was in excellent health for the first time in years - then many of my symptoms returned and got worse. Only recently did my digestive issues...
